I've prepared by following Linda Messi on X.
Actually it's Messy Linda and she has an Onlyfans account.
I bow to your greater knowledge on that one...😉

If it isn’t already happening, then if we are fortunate enough to stay up one of the first tasks is stocktaking.
For example does a promising youngster need to be released to accommodate Ahadme’s contract?

Why haven't we signed anyone yet... The owners have no ambition, they've clearly run out of money as well so expect next season to be a very tough one to even get 0-pts!!
Sheffield Wednesday would love to get 0 points this season.

We need to get a move on, Sheff Wed have already signed a player. I’m getting worried we’re weeks into the summer window and we’ve had one rumour about a road.

Considering they are already relegated what exactly is the point of that?

Might as well save a wage and play an U21 kid (if they aren't already doing that).
As they are under an embargo, I think if they promote a kid from their academy, they take up a squad place which means that slot can be used for a loan player

You are recommending we sign players from Walthamstow Avenue in the Sunday Essex Corinthian League?
    Should be within our budget.

Didn’t have somewhere to put this so kicking off the summer thread in early March…

    https://www.sportsboom.co.uk/football/transfer-news/exclusive-lincoln-ace-rob-street-on-qpr-charlton-radar

I could suggest where you could have put it....

It's just turned March ffs - and you have unleashed the hounds of know-it-all and club bashers already.

I think the naughty step is the place for you.

All jokes aside as soon as we secure mathematical safety (assuming we do) I would turn all attention and focus to next season and not worry about another game but rather fully concentrate on building and recruiting a squad for next season to compete all season with a different style other  than the (arguably wholly necessary) pragmatic football we've successfully employed this year.
I think we need to be careful and make sure we can walk before we try and run. We all want to see better football, Jones included, but I’m not sure it is a change that happens that quickly. I don’t think there will be a dramatic style change between now and August, it’s going to be more of a gradual process to change the way we play
Agreed I think Jones will want to upgrade in several places in the first team but keep the way we play until he has a full squad of players he's brought in or overseen from the academy. Once that base is set then I imagine he'll evolve the style of play.
  • For serious thoughts about Charlton’s long-term stability, go to the thread I’ve opened called Summer 2027 Transfers.

Is that the one where we are discussing whether Kaminski is really a prem league keeper and the need for a complete squad overhaul as we expect to storm the playoffs having avoided relegation this year and make 8th spot next?

Rob Street is decent, the thing is though, he plays in a team that's geared to play very smart attacking football. No point in paying a lot for yet another striker who is not the right mix for Nathan's preferred methods

I'll add my 'choice'. A very novice central defender, Maldini Kacurri, London born 20 year old who has already  been capped by Albania, his parents home country. Ex Arsenal youth, now at Grimsby on an 18 month deal.
Grimsby's owners have access to the acclaimed database owned by Brighton owner Tony Bloom, so they have all the necessary player data, and they don't waste money on long odds outside chances

Nathan Jones said James Bree will 'always be on our radar' in Richard Cawley's latest piece - he's out of contract in the Summer. Jones' comments are pretty clear that we would like to sign him, but ultimately it will be Bree's choice.

Pfft, when has there ever been a decent defender called Maldini?

I think he is on the England cricket thread complaining that there was only 40 overs of play yesterday in the England v India semi final

Yeah, he said he'll be on our radar "... until he's too old to sign." As we brought in Danny Hylton at 35, that means a very, very long time.

Can't wait to sign Bree in 2033, play him for about 60 mins over the season and then make him our set piece coach

Rob Street's name came up as a loan target a couple of years back when he was still at Palace along with another striker of theirs Luke Plange.
Anyone know why we didn’t take the plange on Luke?

Time for Chaple to show why he’s here and for Jones to prove he can be trusted with money. Needs to be a much better window than last summer

Think it’s harder to do worse, we made 10 signings and bell Carey bree the only 3 to be successful

Bree was definitely a success too. Contributed to us winning plenty of points while he was here

Edit: just realised you had listed Bree as well!

According to the Daily Mail, Leicester and Millwall are lining up Lyndon Dykes in the summer. Personally, I’d be disappointed if we don’t sign him after the half season he’s had.

Feels like agent talk/lazy journalism. He's not a top end Championship striker which rules out Millwall and Leicester were interested in January and either couldn't get a deal done or he preferred to come here instead

I think he’d start a decent number of games for Millwall, and probably feature in nearly every game. Would you rather have him or Coburn up top?

With Dykes I think it’s purely going to be down to how much he values playing week in week out vs his wallet. We probably won’t be the best financial offer he has this summer, but hopefully we can give him a good enough offer that he decides to join us and play week in week out rather than play less for a better team

If they go up, neither. I haven't watched enough of Coburn to really make a judgement but Coburn is 7 years younger. Dykes has miraculously played more minutes this season but still has a lower xG & xA as well as worse per 90 stats. Obviously that is skewed by playing in top/bottom end teams but Coburn isn't the donkey some seem to think he is

Millwall won't want Dykes if they go up, and i doubt he will go to Leicester if they go down.
