Summer Window 2026 - Rumours

Lyndon Dykes has been linked to Milwall every year. It’s a bit of a running joke in their club from what I gather._MrDick said:According to the Daily Mail, Leicester and Millwall are lining up Lyndon Dykes in the summer. Might be reading something that’s not there, but reading between the lines when jones has talked about dykes with Cawley is that if dykes keeps us up and has a good World Cup he’s ok to get a bigger contract elsewhere._MrDick said:According to the Daily Mail, Leicester and Millwall are lining up Lyndon Dykes in the summer. Apparently Lidl were stocking similar rumours but with weird foreign names, for less money in the second week.AFKABartram said:0 -
I think we stand a good chance of signing Dykes for longer in the summer, he has found a place where he is getting game time, style suits him and he is performing well.
After a fairly torrid few years at this level where he struggled to get into teams that is likely to be quite important to him now.1 -
Dykes might feel like he's found a home here, similar to Lloyd Jones.
He's nowhere near as bad as Birmingham fans make him out to be (though his attempt when Allsop was off his line was awful)0 -
Dykes to me is a journeyman. Works very hard for the team but will not score you many. I must say I am ambivalent whether he stays or goes.1

I think it would be unfair to suggest he hasn’t been a real help and done well for us. Whether he’s considered what we need should we stay up will be interesting, I didn’t want him particularly, now admittedly I wouldn’t be disappointed if he stays with us.raytreacy said:Dykes to me is a journeyman. I think we need to pause and think about our goals for this and next season, then give an opinion on Dykes. I mean that in a complimentary way to him and a realistic approach for us!He's been great for us and it was a smart move. A permanent deal meant he could play against Brum and help us get 3 big points. He's got that edge and senior player vibe we really needed.4

To be fair the 1st game he played showed how lacking in experience and know how we were. Our January business is turning out to be pretty useful.mendonca said:I think we need to pause and think about our goals for this and next season, then give a realistic opinion on Dykes. He's been great for us and it was a smart move. I can already tell that people are going to be having expectations that are pretty high on how we do next season and how we play. Realistically let’s say we stay up this season and then finish 14th next season and aren’t involved in the relegation battle at all then that’s progress. As long as we are improving every season then we should be pretty happymendonca said:I think we need to pause and think about our goals for this and next season, then give a realistic opinion on Dykes. He's been great for us and it was a smart move. I hope the main motivation behind signing Collins early was not because Ramsay has said he won't signed a new deal.
Extending Ramsay, Lloyd, Dykes and Cov would be a great platform to build from and show real intent from the owners4 -
Does that mean if he doesn't keep us up and has a terrible World Cup, Jones will want to sign him?Diebythesword said:

Can add TC to that list too. Him and Ramsay are the ones we might lose this summer if we can’t agree a new contract with themstjohnshill said:I hope the main motivation behind signing Collins early was not because Ramsay has said he won't signed a new deal.

Maybe something like this as a 25 man squad on the assumption we stay up and have some money to spend again.
Gk. Mannion, Kaminski, Brooks
RWB. Clarke, Bree
RCB. Collins, Ramsey
CCB. Jones, New, Burke
LCB. Bell, New
LWB. Edwards, New
CM. Carey, New
New, Docerty
New, Coventry
Striker. Leaburn, Campbell, Kelman, Dykes. New
It's a lot of transfer business with 10 new in, albeit 3 of those in Clarke, Bree and Dykes are well known and potentially out of contract.
Undecided on:
Coady - old and slow but maybe if we need a coach and he wanted to stow into that hybrid role?
Godden - crazy to say it but injured all season and not getting younger.
Rankin Costello and Anderson - midfield is probably the area we need to improve most and they struggle to get in it now.
Knibbs - retain as a finisher/bench player if enough squad places to allow it.
Maybe loans /squad places for M'bick, Kanu, Assimwe, Dixon, Gough, Z Mitchell, Fullah, Mwamba, Laq. I don't know enough about how close any of them may be.
Move on Gillesphey, Tanto, Apter, A Mitchell, Berry, Ahadme, Taylor.0 -
I think we all need to temper expectations over the next few years, staying up for 3/4 years will be a very good achievement. The financial difference between the top 8-10 in this league and those in the bottom 8-10 is massive, without significant investment the chances of a play off push any time soon are highly unrealistic.
Who knows I might be wrong, we might spend 40 million in the summer and get top 6 next year but I think that is incredibly unlikely.3 -

I used to think that about players like Iwelumo years ago, but there’s a lot a decent experienced target man can add at this level besides goals.raytreacy said:Dykes to me is a journeyman. Works very hard for the team but will not score you many. I must say I am ambivalent whether he stays or goes.
He’s not as good as someone like Kermorgant was, but he’s made a difference in our form picking up. He’s allowed us to rotate Leaburn more and got a few goals and assists. We look better for it compared to a few months ago.
Is there better out there? Probably, but can we find that player and convince them to join us?1 -
That’s pretty close to my thoughts. I think realistically you’d have 1 less CB, and trust Sichenje or the new LCB to play in the middle if needed (Burke still there as an emergency). No decent middle centre back is going to sign for us with Lloyd Jones blocking their way into the teamAthletico Charlton said:Maybe something like this as a 25 man squad on the assumption we stay up and have some money to spend again.

Clarke and Bree I think will both be difficult to sign. If we could even get one of them then that would be great. Definitely need 2 proper wing backs on either side this season though
Midfield we need overhaul, but I’d be happy with keeping Knibbs along with yours. So 2 new signings here but both very important ones
Up top I’m pretty happy with Dykes, Leaburn, Kelman and TC as 4 of them. I think the latter 3 will all score more goals at this level next season after their learning experience this season and us hopefully giving them a few more chances. The 5th striker could be Mbick, I’d imagine he will want to be in the squad or he will be demanding a move to Brighton
Overall, if we get the wing back and midfield signings right then I think we will be onto a good thing. I think our defence is fine and our strikers are developing so should be better next season
I make it 7 new signings required, (2 RWB, 1 LCB, 1 LWB, 2 CM, 1 ST) which is a lot more manageable than 10, and probably closer to what we plan on doing this summer. Only other thing I wouldn’t mind seeing is Kaminski sold and a new number 1 but I feel like that’s unlikely to happen0
