Ten players from Jamaican side Mount Pleasant have been denied a visa to enter the United States for Wednesday's Concacaf Champions Cup tie against LA Galaxy.

Mount Pleasant, winners of the 2025 Concacaf Caribbean Cup, are set to make their Champions Cup debut against Galaxy at the Dignity Health Sports Park in California.

The Jamaican side have been forced to call up a number of academy players for the fixture.

The BBC article doesn't include a word from the club.

Why don't the Jamaican government just do the same back and refuse visas for the whole of the starting XI of LA Galaxy?

Because they're an actual, functioning government, probably

I guess because the restriction seems to be on Haitian individuals and not based upon their occupation.

So unless LA Galaxy have nationals from countries restricted in Jamaica it isn’t the same (however much it might not be welcome).

Does this partnership still exist, or did it end with Methven leaving?

I’ve not heard about any of their players joining or even training with us since the initial stuff that went on soon after this was announced.

Such thinking has resulted in Charlton establishing partnerships with clubs such as Valencia in Spain, Shandong Lunend in China and Ajax Cape Town in South Africa.

We’ve had quite a few on top of those too, there were Danish and Belgian clubs (pre TS and RD), one in Finland and maybe a few more. The old OS articles won’t be found on Google anymore but the partnerships are in the FM games around 2005-2008 or so.

None of which came to anything in terms of benefitting our first team.

But no doubt generated some overseas jaunts for some.

Meanwhile season ticket prices need to go up…😆

Yeah side called ASEC think none of the players from there ever got a work permit and ended up in Belgium with Beerschott.

People forget about this sort of thing Varney signed us up to. All pointless and came of nothing!

America is becoming/has become the most despicable “democracy” in the world. This just underlines it for me. Racist to the core MAGA.

You're not wrong but what's it to do with the thread?

The Mount Pleasant Team members being denied entry to the USA for a game. I think that justifies my comment.
