Conor Coady - out of hospital and given the all clear (p13)

Can't see why ownership would scale back investment in the summer. Hopefully the new investment materialises and they look to push things on. Could see the very long standing transfer record smashed.
Wouldn't mind a Coady type signing of an experienced head but please no more Reece Burke injury records1 -
Stating the obvious but I think he’s been a great signing. Exactly what was needed after that Millwall nightmare. Don’t think we’d even attempt to make it permanent but definitely always be welcomed back.4

He has been. Not just for his on field contributions but it's allowed Coventry to recover from whatever knock he was carrying.TomCAFC said:Stating the obvious but I think he’s been a great signing. I'm finding it a bit strange that he's lost his place in the side. I thought he was doing fairly well for us and had been an inspired signing plus the added bonus that he scored the winner in his last appearance at Middlesbrough.
Started 7 games, 3 wins, 3 draws, 1 defeat.
Since Middlesbrough he's been benched, not played a single minute and we've got 1 point (via a last minute penalty) from 3 games.11 -
I’m 99% certain he’ll start on Monday. We’ll be the better for it as I thought we were woeful in the middle of the park yesterday.Chris_from_Sidcup said:I'm finding it a bit strange that he's lost his place in the side. Think we already have one eye on next season and Coady won’t be here so can see why he isn’t getting much game time as much as he probably deserves itChris_from_Sidcup said:I'm finding it a bit strange that he's lost his place in the side. Shouldve been a shoe in against a Wiley old Roy Hodgson side that will certainly have learned some of his old tricks.2

We should probably get ourselves mathematically safe before we put any eyes on next season, hopefully we see him MondayCrispywood said:

We're missing his leadership.
He needs to start on Monday.4 -
Good news that he has been discharged from hospital - https://www.charltonafc.com/news/conor-coady-discharged-hospital.I think he may have though played his last game for Charlton. With the FA head injury guidelines, a player has to sit out full contact training for 14 days, meaning he is unlikely to be ready to play for three weeks. That would make him available only for the final game away at Swansea. I doubt we’d play him as he’s on loan and unlikely to be signed for next season. I do though think he was a worthwhile signing on loan, a genuine leader that has played a significant part in keeping us up.Not a player I think we should sign, however, he is 33 and I think is still in contract at Wrexham on hefty wages33

Yes, he has definitely made a difference. Glad he is out of hospital.12

Signed a former English international with 500 games. Came in played a position he hasn’t played in 10 years dropped a worldie against the side that hated him on debut, scored a winner in the most unlikely win of the season and then put his body on the line to the point he got knocked out cold by a shot.If there’s ever going to be a streets won’t forget Charlton player Coady is definitely going to be up there .38

Our Championship Jorge Costa. So relieved he's OK, should stay in the game for a long time once he packs up playing, exemplary bloke to be around the place that hopefully has done or is doing his badges13

He came in and played straight away for us after not featuring for Wrexham for about 4 months so I think he's just a naturally fit guy so if the protocols allow it i'd expect to see him on the bench against Hull.cafc4ever said:Good news that he has been discharged from hospital - https://www.charltonafc.com/news/conor-coady-discharged-hospital.I think he may have though played his last game for Charlton. And if he is i'd hope that Jones gives him a run out so the fans can show some appreciation for his efforts. I think he's been a great signing. We've lost only 1 game in 8 that he's started, including being unbeaten in all 5 away games.12 -
I am grateful to him. He is a massive reason why we are staying up.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

I think he'll be available for selection after the Wednesday match.0

So glad he’s ok, he’s been a great loan signing so well done to whoever made it happen.
Don’t know about the rules but if he’s not available I’m guessing he’ll get to be on the pitch the last home game so we can thank him and recognise his big contribution to our season.
He's the sort of player any club are proud to call their own.2 -
He's already played more games for us than Wrexham, and I'd like to think he's enjoyed it here a lot more than there too.
Unfortunately I think his wages will be too high to sit on the bench and be a good influence around the place with the occasional game4 -
I think Coady and Dykes have proved that there should always a place in a squad for experienced quality players.
Just as Matty Godden reinforced yesterday.
Can't wait for Lewandowski to join in the Summer.18 -
Coady has done a fantastic job , just don't think he wants to be based away from his family again. Can still easily do a job for someone at this level if Parky doesn't want him next season.5

I am sorry I don’t think Dykes is a quality player. If he was he wouldn’t be with us. He is a journeyman who works really hard and scores the odd goal.CaptainRobbo said:I think Coady and Dykes have proved that there should always a place in a squad for experienced quality players.

Think we would be around where Oxford and Leicester are right now without his goals and assists.raytreacy said:

Not saying he is Harry Kane, but is good at what he does and was just what we needed in January.
Also Leaburn could learn a lot from him.22 -

He's shown us the kind of player we need to be getting in at the base of our midfield in the summer. Coventry is good at moving the ball on, works hard and wins a lot of tackles but his positioning isn't good enough and we get run through too much. Coady isn't quick enough to get around the pitch as much as we'd like but he holds the space in front of the defence so well and forces teams wide where they have to cross, which is something our defence is really good at dealing with. Given Coady's wages I'm sure we can go out and identify a player who would cost less to keep around but is a bit younger and faster with a similar profile to compete with Coventry4

We really struggled when he went off yesterday, as we had no height up front to hold the ball or at least challenge for it. As soon as we cleared the ball upfield, it came back again.CaptainRobbo said:

Sorry mate, can’t agree on this one, he is without doubt limited, but he has done a great job for us and at the time it turns out just what we needed and I didn’t want him one bit. He deserves praise and our gratitude for his efforts 100%.raytreacy said:

Coady along with Dykes were inspired additions in January and you have got to give Jones credit for bringing them in ...their experience has been invaluable. Not sure if Coady is affordable or that he'd want to stay longterm. I'd keep Dykes if we could8
