Len Deighton RIP

The British author, Len Deighton, who was best known for his spy novels, has died at the age of 97.

Perhaps his most famous work, 1962's The Ipcress File was turned into a Bafta-winning film starring Michael Caine, and was re-made as an ITV series starring Peaky Blinders actor Joe Cole four years ago.

    The Ipcress File is an excellent read. Up there with Fleming in my opinion

    The author of 1 of my favourite WW2 novels,  'Bomber' as well as novels on a very diverse range of subjects .. talented man

    Bought a few of his novels in my teens - iirc they were Bomber, Fighter, SS/GB. Sadly didnt read any of them.......but they looked good on the bookshelf.

    Always enjoyed his writing, both fiction and historical. He moved things along quicker than Le Carre who he was often lumped in with but was quite different IMO.

    My favourires were the Trio of trilogies (Nonology?) Game, Set and Match etc.
