    Are the new owners known?

After Mark Brooker died last year the word was that his brother Danny would take it over following a full refurb. Did that change does anyone know?

New central heating has been fitted.
    Decoration starts next week.
    Opens in May.

Just in time for the end of the season - smashing.

Not fussed, as long as it’s back for next season! Genuinely think it would benefit from the increased numbers of away fans! Closed down at the worst time in terms of the status of the club! A cracking family that ran the pub for years and would be a great way to honour the late Mark with it running well!

Delighted to have it back (🤞) but I’d say keep it home biased- so many more of us now in the Championship and the one thing that put me off a bit about it was being outnumbered by away. Away fans really don’t deserve the best-located pub in easy walking distance to The Valley. I don’t mind a few sensible ones - à la RAH - but not the majority please!!

Lol, so the bar staff are expected to say 'sorry not enough home fans have come today so we cant serve your party of away fans as you would then outnumber the home fans'

Good news - we’ve started parking near it recently, will definitely use once open

The good thing for the pub is the companies in the immediate vicinity are all expanding and taking on more staff so it should get more regulars as well as football and passing trade.

There has always been allocated home and away and agree with the above, why should they get the best.

intrigued to find out who has it, do some digging Baldy.

I’d assume they go with whatever makes the most money.

It’s surely as simple as that.

I think you potentially ignore geography a little for home supporters who choose to drink (and that might be a dwindling number).

It’s a specific location to venture to if you don’t drive / park / commute that side of the ground.

Away supporters are potentially more likely to seek out a specific venue if making  a day of their London visit and if travelling via North Greenwich it maybe gets some added appeal?

it’s a tough climate for any / all pubs. Got to admire anyone even trying to make them work currently which is why I suggest it will evolve to whoever spends the most.

Agreed ut looks a nice pub but never tried it puerly on its location, for fans coming from bexley side its quite a significant detour. When back in the UK I tend to use the Rose which is even a bit out of the way tbh.

Stoped driving to the games this season and now do the walk from North Greenwich to the ground so will be ideal for me , extra stop after the pilot and more time away from the wife so win/win .

  • The pub's location has never really generated much passing trade. It's so quiet down there most of the time...

Part of it's appeal....used it quite a bit when we lived in Eltham and used to do a cycle ride along the Thames Path along to Greenwich and then back home (Well Hall Road).

A lot of people go for a walk along there, i’m sure they could get a good lunch trade.

It is part of the Thames Path, and lots of people walk the whole or part of it during the year, I have friends who have walked large parts of, if yoy think that is out of the way get down to the part between Erith and Dartford.

I walk down there pretty regularly and it's rarely busy - I just question if it will generate enough trade.

On a sunny day and in its hey day it was properly packed all day long. Gets a lot of passing trade from walkers and cyclists. Ideal spot to stop.

Can’t wait for it to reopen.

No ifea why the last crew decided to change its name from Vanbrugh to duke of Greenwich, i kept getting confused and booking the prince of greenwich. Good to see it reopen, as long as they can put on a decent sunday roast cant go wrong with that pub.
