Young Player of the Year 25/26

Only Valley Gold members can vote but the nominees are:

Karoy Anderson

Ibby Fullah

Keenan Gough

Tough one as I really like all three, but I've voted for Gough, he's done well in defence under pressure when he's played.

Surely can't be a player who will have spent half the season somewhere else so for me it's between Fullah and Gough.

You're right of course but he's played 529 minutes in the league and the others have played 446 between them

Vote now for your Charlton Athletic Young Player of the Year 2025/26

The end of our first season back in the Championship is almost upon us – and it’s time to vote for your Charlton Athletic Young Player of the Year!

Voting is open to Valley Gold members ONLY and closes on Sunday, 12th April.

The three nominated players to choose from are:

    Karoy Anderson

Although currently on loan at Blackpool to gain further senior experience, it should not be forgotten that Karoy has made 73 appearances for the First Team and 13 of them this season. He made his debut in November 2022 in the EFL Trophy at Plymouth and also scored on his debut.

Karoy signed a new 3 year contract in 2025, and made 13 appearances at National level for Jamaica.

He joined the Academy as an Under 9 player, has always been an all action midfield player, with a never say die attitude. A role model and captain throughout the Academy and now at senior level, always willing to give his time to the younger generation of Academy players. Karoy is genuinely proud of his Academy roots.

    Ibby Fullah

Still only 18, Ibby joined the Academy as an Under 10 and has progressed year on year to make his first team debut at the end of last season against Burton Albion and going on this season to so far make 11 more appearances.

Comfortable playing in wide or central areas, he certainly has the ‘wow‘ factor with his dribbling and goal scoring ability.

Ibby signed a long term contract in April 2025 and marked his full debut in August 2025 scoring in the Carabao Cup. There will be many more goals to come! The youngest nominee, but a highly deserving one.

    Keenan Gough

Keenan signed for the Academy at U9. He played most of his schoolboy years as a central midfield player, but at Under 18 level and onwards has certainly showed his versatility, also playing centre back. Aged 20, Keenan committed his future to the Club, signing a long term contract in November 2025.

He made his first team debut at Cambridge Utd at the beginning of this season, but has continued the senior journey with 4 more appearances, notably making his first start at Norwich City and then going on to start against Chelsea in the FA Cup, an experience he will never forget.

Dependable wherever he plays, Keenan was awarded the Pierre Bolangi Award in 2023, and that tells plenty about his key characteristics as a person as well as a player, particularly his leadership qualities.

Fullah for me although I think all three are deserving.

Anderson has played more minutes and Gough has done well in tough games.

Gough been the best of the 3 in the minutes he has played but had almost none. Fullah is in the middle more mins but not as consistent as Gough. Then you have Anderson with more minutes but has been the worse of the 3 on the pitch.

Really can go which ever way depending on what you think is most important

Gough... Your faults get exposed more as a Defender, and dont really think he's put a foot wrong since stepping up
  • I've gone for Gough but it was tight between him and Fullah.

It's got to be Gough. Fullah has been good but he's also been asked to come in here and there and provide unexpected moments, which he does well. Gough however has been asked to play at centre back in an incredibly structured, organised system. In some ways that helps because he doesn't have to improvise so much but it also means he has to do exactly what's been asked of him or the system falls apart. There's a reason you see a lot more young attackers than defenders and you almost never see a young centre back playing in important games, they're more likely to be shunted out to full back like even Gomez was. Gough has only really played in 3 proper games but he did fine against Norwich, didn't embarrass himself against a strong Chelsea side and was excellent away at Boro. Given that he's seen as more of a defensive midfielder and that is where his development has been aimed that's a very impressive showing
