Where do we go from here !!

I know alot of people will probably shot me down, but hear me out. I know the main objective for this season was to stay up and hopefully we do that, even though we're making hard work of it. But the main thing about this post, is jones !! Where do we go from here ?? The football we produce is so poor and its the same over and over again, go a goal down and we start playing in the last 10 mins. The formation we play really doesn't suit us, with keep picking the same players that really dont deserve to be playing at the moment, fullah is one of our only creative player but hardly plays, I would love to know what JRC has done to not even get a start in this team, when the midfield is our weakest part, our recruitment in the summer really wasnt good enough, its just a catalogue of errors by jones and he doesn't seem to be learning from them, so what would people do, would you say thank you for keeping us up and push on for another manager, or would you stick with him and hope he changes his ways ??

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt with a summer transfer window. Needs to be backed, you aren't going to get away with "bargain hunting"

NJ has taken us from the depths of L1 to almost mid table mediocrity in Champs - give him time.
Do you expect us to be playing like Barcelona from the word go ?

How do you know Jones choices are a catalogue of errors and the choices you think he should have made would have us in a better position then we are now?

No i dont expect us to be playing like Barcelona, but I do expect us to not be making the same mistakes over and over again and handing games to teams
  • It's pragmatic to compete and stay up this season as ugly as it is.

18th in the league when finishing 21st would be meeting this season's objective.

He's got us up here and competing with a league one squad and if he keeps us up he's done very well. We were bookies favourites for relegation pre season.

If we have the same style of negative hit and hope football devoid of creativity next season that's a different story but for now it's all just about survival and looking to build incrementally season after season and become established.

Would've bitten hands off for 18th with 6 games to go at start of season.

You would never know if the choices I would make would make a difference, he's a football manager and im not, but you dont need to be one, to see some of the mistakes he keeps making, like time and time again putting campbell at LWB when everyone in the stadium knows hes a winger, keep playing the same midfielders when there so ineffective

I don't really get it. Everyone can see how poor these players are. Look at our midfield pairing... They didn't even dominate in L1. And yet we haven't been in the bottom three once this season. That is down to Nathan Jones.

So how many points, and where in the table do you think we would be if we used Campbell as a winger and played JRC, Knibbs and Fuller in midfield?

Yeah i not saying anything about this season, like I said the main objective was to stay up, but next season needs to be totally different because if not we will seriously in trouble

Pep Guardiola would struggle to make a team play attacking football with Cov & Doc in CM.

Many Said exactly the same thing after Crawley and Millwall and look what happened. There is zero technical quality in the squad, let him have a summer where he can play around with that midfield and forward line and then we can judge beacause pep guardiola couldn’t even get Docherty to make a 5 yard pass

Not sure how you can blame Jones for a Mannion howler & missing 4/5 guilt edge chances.

He has so much credit in the bank

Where do we go from here?! Carry on with the project that’s taken us from relegation candidates in league one to almost safe in our first season back in the Championship. Back our manager in the summer and hope next season we’re even better.
  • We'd be fucked without Nathan Jones as the last decade before his tenure demonstrated.

He's working miracles with a squad of mediocre (by championship standards) players.

I'm glad he's here and he's stopped the rot and turned the club around.

I know we're in an era of instant gratification, must have everything now but we should stick with him long term as he's best manager we've had since Curbishley and great managers who understand the club, get the fanbase and get results at charlton are rare as hen's teeth as far as Charlton are concerned.

He's doing a great job as the table evidences.

I think there were mistakes made in the summer recruitment and I’m sure lessons have been learned. Our budget is one of the lowest and we’re newly promoted with basically a league one team. We’ll survive and need to build in the summer. Jones isn’t faultless but our rise under him cannot be underestimated. He’s good at getting what’s needed out of the players at his disposal. Back him in the summer and we’ll see where that leads us. Any thought of replacing him is way way out of line.

     Could've sworn the next line was "Ai-ai ai-ai,  ai-ai ai ai! Ai-ai ai-ai, ai-ai ai ai!"
But seriously, as @The Red Robin  has pointed out we've already got a thread for this, so it's probably best continued over there.
