So many on here with knives ready sharpened.
Campbell, should of course have scored, but so should several others - yet they don't get the abuse and victimisation of this lad.
There are some sad vindictive people masquerading as Charlton fans.
If you are one of them, shame on you.

I thought he made a difference when he came on. And I do like him as a player. But that doesn't mean I wasn't absolutely frustrated with that chance. What was he trying to do, smash the leather off the ball from that distance and angle? Just hit the target. It's so basic.1

Another game passed, same conversations about TC, bored of it now. He’s a good league 1 winger, a below par championship one.1

This is almost to the Naby Sarr level of disparity of opinion level by the fanbase.1

It was a bad miss and I agree we need to score more goals next season.MartinCAFC said:There is no way as it stands a better Championship team is coming in for him in the summer.I actually thought he had a good game but that miss of course will dominate the conversation and the chant in the Covered Upper was unnecessary and not helpful.
The sad truth is we need to upgrade on him this summer, he’s tried his best but our ceiling with him is 18th and we’re going to need to improve a lot going forward next season when second season syndrome kicks in and we’re not starting the season buoyed by promotion. We won’t keep as many clean sheets as this season we’re going to need more goals as plain as that, something has to give and likely it has to be TC’s place in the starting XIHowever it wouldn’t surprise me if there is some Championship interest in the summer as some will look at this season and believe they can be the manager and club to get more out of him.
The threat of his pace attracts the opposition, which should create space for others, but we rarely benefit from that. That says more about our weaknesses on the ball and in attack than TC himself.
Other clubs will regularly play two attacking wingers, and have 4/5 to choose from which gives them strong competition and allows them to be rested and rotated more.
He could benefit from a set up like that, focusing on being a left winger rather than a striker/winger hybrid or left wing back.
He’s shown he gets and creates chances at this level (admittedly not enough end as goals and assists), so despite criticism about whether he’s trying hard enough, his lack of movement, his poor reading of the game etc (which is sometimes fair) he gets shots away and crosses in, so he’s doing something right, and that’s despite rarely playing as an out and out winger. It’s not a given that every winger, striker or attacking midfielder at this level gets that many opportunities.
He’s probably the definition of a marmite player, he has some very big strengths in terms of pace, fitness and dribbling, but also very big weaknesses including lacking composure in front of goal, poor decision making and defensive aspects as with a lot of wingers.
Jones has already confirmed we’ll activate his contract extension which will give him 1 more year on his deal. I’d have thought TC and his agent will be considering whether he’s best off staying here and signing a longer deal, or if he should take his chances elsewhere if the right offer comes in.
The club may also be considering the latter, as much as he adds pace, something we need, they also need to add more goals and creativity to the squad, something Jones confirmed after he today’s game. An unexpected sale or two could be a nice boost to the transfer budget.7 -
We need to hang onto our better players and Campbell is one of them. Get better midfielders with him so that he isn't constantly double marked because, frankly, you don't need to bother marking Coventry and Docherty in the final third, and he will look better and better.
He has just run past Wan Bissaka and number of times a few days ago.4 -
This - he had alot of time and HAS to hit the target from there at least. It was miles over. Don’t agree with the booing of him but his body language really doesn’t help him. He melted after he’d missed thatqueensland_addick said:Shocking miss, he has to at least get it on target. However there were four other players on the pitch today who missed even bigger "sitters", Godden being one of them.
We did however look far more dangerous after the substitutions. Fev, Fullah, TC and JRC all made a big difference. Going forward, we need to get these players more integrated into the starting 11.
TC needs to really work on composure and decision making. It's time for him to either step up or move on.
No need for any abuse, but fans venting their frustrations is part and parcel of the game.
too many times he checks back and knocks a simple ball - I really like Campbell but he doesn’t make it easy to like him sometimes1 -
If he's ever going to succeed here then it will need Jones to change his formation. Otherwise we should let TC go elsewhere for his own sake.
Making comments about 'attacking defiencies' when you've spent the past 2 seasons playing a winger as a striker is laughable.

There are 23 other Championship clubs who would be happy to take him off our hands in the summer.MartinCAFC said:There is no way as it stands a better Championship team is coming in for him in the summer.I actually thought he had a good game but that miss of course will dominate the conversation and the chant in the Covered Upper was unnecessary and not helpful.

Says it all that my reaction to his miss was “Oh TC…” knowing what the reaction would be, rather than frustration at the missed opportunity itself like with Carey and later Godden.
Suggesting our ceiling with him is 18th as if it’s the 22 y/o who’s our most threatening outlet is what’s holding us back is crazy. WHEN it clicks for him, he will be one of the primary reasons we shoot up the table from 18th.

Very blinkered there….yeah he’s decent but to say 23 other championship sides would take him off our hands is simply laughable7

https://x.com/jogobonlto/status/2040101870660722992?s=46Another opposition team thinking he was good, same every week. He’d have half the championship trying to sign him if he was available8

Hopefully we get him on a new contract. We barely create anything from open play unless he’s on the pitchblackpool72 said:

You know we can sign better players right? Most teams in this league have wingers/strikers that are far more technical and productive/efficient than any of our forwards.2

It’s probably not 23 but he’d easily be signing for another championship team if he was available this summer. But our fans know best and say he’s league 1 level, probably the same lot that wanted Jones out this season and lastElthamaddick said:Very blinkered there….yeah he’s decent but to say 23 other championship sides would take him off our hands is simply laughable0 -
We made similar points that he will attract interest, but every club in the league? Those with the bigger budgets will have better and/or be able to sign better.Callumcafc said:

Ok let’s try and find a player that’s as good as TC is 1v1, one of the quickest players in the league and can run 12km a game and then also has end product. Good luckSELR_addicks said:You know we can sign better players right? Most teams in this league have wingers/strikers that are far more technical and productive/efficient than any of our forwards.

Perhaps we sign some central midfielders and a left wing-back capable of covering the ground. Then we can get a striker with end product.NabySarr said:

It's not impossible and the idea that we are stuck with TC up front/left wing or nobody is laughable.
Every one of the other 22 teams (other than Wednesday) have managed to just fine.0 -
Yes we should be looking to do those things in midfield and at wing back. But we should also want to keep TC as part of this squad next season, you need a player in the squad that can do what he does and I can’t see it being easy at all to replace the attributes he has. Fans should be getting behind him and hoping we get him on a new contract, instead we get morons abusing him every weekSELR_addicks said:

JBG and Bulot may not have had TC’s pace but they had more end product each. And both were signed under the Roland era.NabySarr said:
