Gutting0

Oh what a shame... Just couldn't clear it0
-
That is so effing unlucky.
Typical Charlton.2 -
Unfortunate. Slightly farcical goal but there’s not really a point in there where we missed an obvious chance to clear it. The ball hitting the bar throws everyone and it falls kindly for them1
-
Was the kind of goal I thought we might have got to nick it, but we've given them a really good game today and it gives me more hope for next season, hopefully in the WSL and with a few key upgrades.
My parents are watching them live for the first time and mentioned how good Siber and N'Dow have been2 -
Oh well. Means we can fully focus on the league now.1
-
So so much to be proud of there4
-
A performance to be proud of. Shame we didn’t take it to pens and it did dawn on me looking at how tired those players were that extra time and a loss probably isn’t the best thing for a team who absolutely need to win their next game but still, if we focus on today it’s a good showing a potentially means that we could have a decent enough performance against Leicester if it comes to it. BT embarrassingly gave POTM to the goalscorer so they could interview her after but N’Dow, Lobato and Fitzgerald are deserving on a huge amount of praise for their effort today3
-
N'Dow the clear potm, but it's always given to a player on the winning side.
A great defensive performance, but it's so hard to keep that up for 2 hours. You're always going to give up a chance, you just hope they miss it.10 -

International break now, they don't play again for 3 weeks.Garrymanilow said:A performance to be proud of. That performance by N’Dow was magnificent4
-
Great game. They put so much effort in. The girls should be proud of that performance.2
-
Held a team from the league above for 117 minutes which is a good thing.
Regroup during the international break and make sure we secure automatic promotion on the resumption.7 -
Can’t fault the effort and grit the team showed today on another day we’d have taken them to penalties. But the girls can hold their head high after that 120 mins amazingly organised and well disciplined. N’Dow was absolutely outstanding at defending throughout the gameOne thing I’d say comparing liverpools team to ours was how much stronger there players are than ours if we do get promoted that is something we may need to address in the future0
-
My first CAFCW game this season.
atmosphere was great, and lots of supporters of the mens side attending too!Clappers and flags a great touch, I look forward to seeing where they turn up over the next few weeks🤣
really hope they get promoted, nothing short of what they deserve! A great togetherness between the players too3 -
We just got home. A brilliant day despite the result, and 150 of us from Medway Town Pinx helped bolster the biggest crowd the women have had in 20 years. I thought they were brilliant. Especially defensively. It felt very much like watching the mens team. Solid defensively, preventing the oppo from creating any clear cut chances but offering very little going forwards. I thought they'd hold out for penalities but they just ran out of gas in extra time. No shame in that performance at all. N'Dow was immense.Thank you to the club for allowing us to bring so many over to be part of the day.15

Spoke to Carla Humphrey before the game, she’s aiming to be available for the Birmingham game, maybe sooner.9

Can only echo what others have said. N'Dow was superb, and you'd never know Siber isn't really a right-back. Liverpool took control as the game wore on (as Bunk says above, one of the priorities in the summer has to be to bring in players who are physically stronger, whichever league we're in) but their goal didn't feel inevitable and it's gutting that it came when and in the manner that it did.
I feel a bit for Kenney. Yes, she didn't do well today - her effort from long range was feeble - but frequently when she comes on in games her job is to chase the defenders and the keeper when they have the ball at the back, with little support from the other forward players, so I'm not too surprised that she quickly looks worn out and that her decision-making then isn't the best when she does get on the ball. I don't really understand why Bissell played out wide when she came on, as another physical presence at centre-forward would have helped.
Despite the result, that was a performance we can take heart from. And the crowd was good too, both in terms of numbers and the support throughout the game. Hopefully we can draw more crowds like that in future.3 -
When Pearse went off I was suprised that the tall left footed Waldie didn't replace her.
McAteer was asked to defend the right flank with Mason in front of her. Didn't work and increased the pressure which eventually led to the goal.
Karen doesn't like new faces. Mia Ross got a yellow card for a clumsy challenge soon after coming on. Didn't do much after that.0 -

We look a much better side with that defensive setup. It's not that they look world-beating, it's that they have a knack for somehow avoiding conceding goals, which is the key task after all. I also think we look better when Muya's playing and it was good to have her back starting. Now hopefully we can take advantage of the international break to reset and try to play against Southampton like we did against Liverpool.2

Here's the BBC's league table plus the remaining fixture for the top three. All remaining games are on Sunday 26 April and Saturday 2 May, except for Ipswich-Sheffield at the other end of the table. Two of the top three go up, the third goes into the playoff. Newcastle could catch Palace in theory, if Palace get no more than one point; failing that the current top three will be the final top three.
Birmingham: Ipswich (H), Charlton (A)
Charlton: Southampton (A), Birmingham (H)
Palace: Sunderland (A), Portsmouth (H)

Reminded me of the Men’s Team.
Great Defensive Work but No Attacking Threat.2 -
I hope they can show that resolve in their last two games in the league, we have just seen the difference between WSL 1 and the rest, that is what many years more of professionalism does for a club. Hopefully it will start to show for Charlton in a season or two`s time.1

Should both Birmingham and Charlton win on the 26th, they could play out a draw on the 2nd to guarantee promotion for both sides…Swindon_Addick said:Here's the BBC's league table plus the remaining fixture for the top three. WE are now guaranteed 3rd spot, but after watching the difference between WSL1 and WSL2 that is not much of a consolation.1

Personally I didn’t think that Liverpool were very impressive. Their defence was too quick and strong for our forwards but their midfield and attack were a lot poorer than I was expecting. Very little creativity or skill3
-
Also, we only need to better than one other team next year, two of whom we will have beaten this season and we have beaten Brighton also. Going up and staying is not as daunting as it sounds as long as we spend a bit to buy some quality.kinveachyaddick said:Personally I didn’t think that Liverpool were very impressive. I think you're wildly underestimating the WSL1. Yes we did beat Brighton (although i think Brighton were pretty much already eliminated by that point) but we also played West Ham earlier in the group who are 2nd bottom in the WSL and they beat us 5-1.BalladMan said:

London City Lionesses won our league last year, they've just posted losses of over 10m, they broke the women's transfer world record by buying a player for 1.4m, signed a number of other international players............and they've won just 6 games and are 7th in a table of 12 teams. The gulf is absolutely huge.

I’m not saying we are winning the league or mid table, I specifically said we need to come second bottom against at least 2 teams in our league and have already beaten this year and Brighton.Much like the men’s team this year, enough to consolidate and then build.0
