Getting our marqee signing in early for next season... Shame he's used up the entire budget for the summer(Welcome to the mad house Josh)6

Great that he grandfather also played for us. Keith is a regular at Bromley Addicks.
Josh has been impressive from what I've seen in the U21s
A right winger with an eye for goal who came thru the Brighton academy.

He's a confident lad and long been earmarked as at least an L1, if not Championship player. All he really failed to do for Dorking was hit the net as much as he could have (his header going wide at Worthing was a heartbreaker). Still, he regularly got into the right positions and rescued a point with a neat finish at Chelmsford. He's dangerous and quick, and as long as he's willing to listen and learn, will soon be an effective option.23

“If this is the level of our signings we’re going down next season” etc.
Seriously though it’ll be interesting to see how he progresses, definitely had something about him from the u21 streams I saw. No doubt getting those goals and assists have helped convince us to bring him in permanently.
Another promising young winger to add to those in the academy, would be good to get to a point where we use wingers more often in the first team and see some of them make the step up.4 -
Sounds like a good prospect, welcome to Charlton Athletic Josh…👍1

Sounds as though there was plenty of interest from other clubs as well so great news that we held them off.2

Great article. Sounds very well thought of.Henry Irving said:1 -
Sounds a promising player. Not sure how he sees a path to the first team playing as a winger mind!2

A young player. A gamble by the club. Can he quickly step up to upper Championship level? It seems a stretch but we shall see.1

even if he doesn’t loan him to A L2/NL side sell him get a fee a cheeky sell on and it’s good businessRob said:A young player. A gamble by the club. Can he quickly step up to upper Championship level? It seems a stretch but we shall see.1 -
Nothing to lose here in my view. Wouldn't have cost a great fee and if it works fine great, If it doesn't haven't lost too much money on the deal. Still got years ahead of him to develop and learn.1

Good to see Steve Avory is still around.4

Looks like he has a contract until 2027.
Non League Gems also describe us as “partner club”. They have their own database they’ve built up of teenagers playing in non-league, it’s helped various players sign for pro clubs.

Good luck lad. You never know if you make it to the regular first team, you'll soon be getting slagged off with the best if em!4

Welcome Josh and good luck.0

Left handed right winger ? .. does he like to 'cut inside' ?0
-
Seen him play both sides, I think mostly right. Was never really allowed to cut inside when I watched him lol but he did get in the box a lot.Lincsaddick said:Left handed right winger ? .. does he like to 'cut inside' ?3 -
Left Winger as per quote from Dorking Wanderers...Lincsaddick said:Left handed right winger ? .. does he like to 'cut inside' ?

Always like signings like this. Most don't work out of course but we have had some great successes in the recent past with the likes of Aribo, Lookman and Pope from non League. Hopefully he is another success.18

I think they played him on the wing that was closest to the dugout so they could tell him what to do!eastterrace6168 said:

There's nary a young winger that isn't on a short leash.2

4 goals and 2 assists in 5 games is a pretty impressive trial but as we've seen with Dixon doing well at that level is no guarantee that you can step it up to first team football.
I'd expect the plan would be for him to have pre-season with us and then we'll either:
a) keep him with us for a few months so he is getting coached at championship level
b) loan him to the National league or League two.2 -

Not sure about this, he looks too happy. Could be risking a dangerous outbreak of morale within the squad.Scoham said:Looks like he has a contract until 2027.

Not that I know anything about him but I’ve always wanted us to go for some non league players. Josh Stokes on loan at Stockport from Bristol City was from non league he looks like a right player. Same with Ben Krauhaus at Bromley. Hopefully we can see Herbert in our first team in a couple of seasons3
