    REALLY proud of Ben & Sam today ! A 150 stand when the entire team scored only 28 more in the 1st innings was immense & I thought they showed great character under duress. 

    You might say they were only doing their jobs ...that's what they're paid to do .

    And as I'll always admit, I know very little about the game itself - just know what I like to see, and this time, their patience, concentration & determination was admirable IMHO. Especially in light of Zak's early departure & hence the cock a hoop Northants team. 

    Maybe it's just me, but there were several occasions as the innings progressed that I thought the opposition players could be said to be guilty of gamesmanship when our lads failed to roll over & hand them an early victory....I loved the way in which both players just made them wait, walked away from the crease & annoyed the oppo even more. Great stuff ! 

    OK, we'll inevitably lose by an innings defeat but Rome wasn't built in a day ( or even Canterbury !) & maybe our season will be built on such foundations ....we can but hope.
