It can only be because of what i assume is an expectation that we'll beat Sheff Weds. Otherwise i'm not really sure how they can exclude us when we're only 1 point ahead of Portsmouth with probably a tougher overall set of remaining fixtures.

More likely they're considering who can jump over us and have decided it's far too unlikely that Leicester are winning 3 of their 4 last games and Oxford are picking up 7 points in their last 4, with another 2 from West Brom, Blackburn and Pompey also overtaking us.

They'll be factoring in at least a point more for us from the Sheffield game too, of course

Sky Sports have a lot more faith in us than any of our fans.

During the discussion on West Brom (5 or 6 minutes of which has been uploaded to YouTube) they never mention us once. They do however, repeatedly mention the “five clubs on tenterhooks waiting for a decision”

It's nothing to do with Sky Sports thinking we're safe ... they just don't like us and prefer to ignore us except when they have to show our matches due to contractual obligations. And even they they'll spend all game talking about the oppo.

In 19/20, if Sky Sports said in the 89th minute that Charlton look safe to stay in the Championship, would you take that over the reality in front of your own eyes?

In terms of the above, they (like opta) merely extrapolate points per game, rather than current form.

Well yeah but the reality this year is that we are more likely than not going to stay up. We've not done it particularly convincingly and it is still much more up in the air than anyone would like but purely mathematically it would take a pretty unlikely set of results for us to go down (which of course is not the same as impossible.)
