West Brom get TWO points deducted (page 8)

It can only be because of what i assume is an expectation that we'll beat Sheff Weds. Otherwise i'm not really sure how they can exclude us when we're only 1 point ahead of Portsmouth with probably a tougher overall set of remaining fixtures.10
-
More likely they're considering who can jump over us and have decided it's far too unlikely that Leicester are winning 3 of their 4 last games and Oxford are picking up 7 points in their last 4, with another 2 from West Brom, Blackburn and Pompey also overtaking us.Chris_from_Sidcup said:It can only be because of what i assume is an expectation that we'll beat Sheff Weds. They'll be factoring in at least a point more for us from the Sheffield game too, of course3 -

It's nothing to do with Sky Sports thinking we're safe ... they just don't like us and prefer to ignore us except when they have to show our matches due to contractual obligations. And even they they'll spend all game talking about the oppo.20 -
In 19/20, if Sky Sports said in the 89th minute that Charlton look safe to stay in the Championship, would you take that over the reality in front of your own eyes?stackitsteve said:Sky Sports have a lot more faith in us than any of our fans.During the discussion on West Brom (5 or 6 minutes of which has been uploaded to YouTube) they never mention us once. In terms of the above, they (like opta) merely extrapolate points per game, rather than current form.0 -
Well yeah but the reality this year is that we are more likely than not going to stay up. We've not done it particularly convincingly and it is still much more up in the air than anyone would like but purely mathematically it would take a pretty unlikely set of results for us to go down (which of course is not the same as impossible.)_uptheaddicks said:

Leicester site noting that a breach by West Brom of up to £2m means a 3 point deduction, £2m-£5m equals a 4 point drop and £5m+ is 5 points off.1

I have always believed a sky subscription is a con.
A Netflix subscription means you don’t suffer adverts because (in theory at least) you have already paid for the service, yet sky makes people pay yet still shoves adverts down people’s throats.
Not only that, people paying sky contribute towards the shocking disparity in football.

Does this mean your in favour of a West Brom points deduction, or against? 🤷🏻♂️🤔jose said:I have always believed a sky subscription is a con.

Personally, I think that without the money there would be no football as we know or nostalgically now think we knew it, whether it was Sky (ie us as subscribers), the UK government (ie us as taxpayers) after Hillsborough or Ambramovich (when the trickle down effect basically bailed out English and World football). Rodney Marsh nailed it imo when I heard his ‘grey’ comments that day back then and initially took offence because he was attacking ‘our’ game and our clubs but immediately thought he had a point. If adverts keep the cost down then so be it.jose said:I have always believed a sky subscription is a con.

Football was doing pretty well in the era when players were paid at a level closer to the pay of the fans that watched. Indeed the fortunes of a club could be boosted by a bumper attendance in a cup game or cup run.letthegoodtimesroll said:

Anyway my complaint (not that I subscribe to be honest) is how a paid subscription service can carry advertisements.1 -
Oh. I didn't know there was a skip function during live events.PrincessFiona said:

Yes, pause then skip - works great. Another option is to mute then......unmute, especially as the volume level annoying increases for advertsjose said:

I wouldn’t put too much stock in Rodney Marsh saying in 2002 that the Premier League was the best in the world, seeing as he was working for Sky as a pundit at the time.
I’m pretty sure everyone on their payroll has said it’s the best league in the world at some point. It’s probably in their contracts.5 -
Right. Could really do with this coming through now.3
-
Don’t think it makes a huge difference if it’s less than 6. They are on a high and will finish above us even with 3 points off.4

EFL probably waiting until next weekend what with 2 games being played by this time next week.
WBA could be safe even with 3 points deducted.0 -

Can see West Brom beating Watford in midweek and Sheff Weds last day so at a minimum they will end on 55 points.
I don't expect their deduction to be any more than 2-3 points so they will be absolutely fine, and as a result they probably won't even bother to appeal.

Hoping it’s not given just yet, may regalvanize Oxford if they have a more realistic team to catch subconsciously the bigger gap may be getting to them

You’re suggesting pause when the poxy adverts come on, and then fast forward back to the programme.PrincessFiona said:

It is live television that in my view should be advert free because a subscription has been paid…like what happens with Netflix or the BBC.
Fartarseing about with the remote control is the only way to avoid the Sky TV scam, not for me.1 -
Not sure it really matters at this stage because Oxford go into every game knowing they must win.Crispywood said:Hoping it’s not given just yet, may regalvanize Oxford if they have a more realistic team to catch subconsciously the bigger gap may be getting to them
There's a chance they pick up 7 points from the last 3 games and even that might not be enough.1 -
Unless you pay a higher amount you get ads on Netflix too so add them to your list of scamsjose said:

And ITV , Channel 4 and Five too come to that. 😀
It’s not a scam. It’s just commerce. But I do agree with the sentiment that the Sky money has gone way too far and players are unnecessarily paid ridiculous sums at the ultimate expense of fans.2 -
I was merely suggesting ways to mitigate the situation, which you can't change, only accept or reject - you're choice. We choose to accept and mitigate, rather than miss outjose said:
