Summer Window 2026 - Rumours and Discussion

Don't know about his demeanor, but I think he'll have offers higher up the league despite what some of our fans think of him - if we're sensible and he won't sign a new contract, better getting a fee this summer than having another Small situation the summer after.valleynick66 said:I still think TC may well be off. Looks to me (from
his demeanour which is open to interpretation of course) like he’s had his head turned and will have some suitors. He will know that staying put is likely not his best financial move unless of course the owners throw caution to the wind on a squad rebuild such that we will be a real threat next year.
Will be interesting to see if Ramsay and/or Kanu sign new deals too.6 -
I don’t think the number of midfielders is anywhere near the problem, it’s the quality of themAberystwythAddick said:

As much as I appreciate what Dykes has done for us since the transfer, he is a decent backup not someone you want leading the line. That has been what he has been for most of his career. It is not changing now. That means if we upgrade (and that’s a big if given how expensive center forwards are), one of Dykes or Leaburn won’t be here next year. Between Godden and Kelman, you have a serviceable second striker plus given what we paid for Kelman, it would be hard to move him.8

This summary would very much appeal to our scouts.MillwallFan said:
Apparently he wanted more minutes but we couldn’t guarantee him that. Good on the ball, pacey, could beat a player or two, but more often than not his final ball and decision making in the final third would let him down.DamoNorthStand said:I like the look of Emakhu at Oxford … was surprised scum let him go and he looked decent in the Derby gameStrange player. Seemed to be good when we bought him on in the last hand hour or so to run at tired legs but when he started he usually had a shocker. Apparently he hasn’t impressed that much at Oxford.0 -
Based on his valuations of our players, I reckon £250kChris_from_Sidcup said:
I will humour you.RonnieMoore said:Two players that should be on our list in the summer to improve our wing play and create chances Sorba Thomas of Stoke .. if Leicester go down try and get either Fatawu or Mavididi other players include Smith and Rathbone from Wrexham …
How much do you expect the transfer fees to be for those?1 -
Got a bad feeling Ramsay won’t extend his deal would hope we could get around 2M for him this summerNorth Lower Neil said:

If he doesn’t sign I’d sell him.Crispywood said:

Maybe - but the fact is, none of them are good enough for The Championship.AberystwythAddick said:

We get overrun because we have 3 crap midfielders putting in a 4th will just make it even crapper. Combat the issue is simple sign better midfieldersThe Red Robin said:

Personally I’d love that and think that’s what we’ll do. Kelman can score when given the chance, if we can get Godden and/or dykes on another year that will do us up top imo, with Kanu and mbick returning.scruffle said:Wonder how everyone would feel if we spent all our budget on just getting in a decent championship quality rb/rwb, CM and DCM, then a loan or prem youth/end of contract LWB/LB option.
Then just go with what we've got up top and at the back.
We've got a lot of dead wood to shift/release also to trim squad down to 25 + youth playersI reckon we’ll get another sichenje style signing in the centre of midfield and a championship midfielder. Doc and Anderson to go.Evolution, not revolution.8 -

I’m sure it was said before, but I could see us going for Stanley Mills if Oxford go down as a more attacking RWB option. Showed a few nice touches yesterday and every time I’ve seen him. He just feels like a Jones player.
For a ‘winger’ he has great defensive statistics and contributions (other than the amount of times he’s been dribbled last). And even in a poor Oxford team he still has decent attacking stats, notably number of shots, successful dribbles and expected assists.

Just don’t expect him to play over Christmas.elbiglad said:I’m sure it was said before, but I could see us going for Stanley Mills if Oxford go down as a more attacking RWB option. Showed a few nice touches yesterday and every time I’ve seen him. He just feels like a Jones player.

Great old school name. Sounds like an inside right for Preston or Blackpool in 1932.elbiglad said:I’m sure it was said before, but I could see us going for Stanley Mills if Oxford go down as a more attacking RWB option. And yes i'm aware he is Danny's son.9 -

I have seen Stanley Mills play a few times now including last night and at 22 he looks decent.
NJ would probably prefer George Mills.0 -
That was me, I think he’s exactly what we need but could also see it being quite competitive with other championship clubs in the mix.elbiglad said:I’m sure it was said before, but I could see us going for Stanley Mills if Oxford go down as a more attacking RWB option. And even in a poor Oxford team he still has decent attacking stats, notably number of shots, successful dribbles and expected assists.I think him and Danny Imray should be on the target list for RWB. Imray is having a good loan at West Brom, probably not going to make it at palace so I reckon available on a permanent and is supposedly a Charlton fan which might help. West Brom might be interested but with their financial issues they are a team we really need to be beating for signings going forward5 -
Following on from last night I’m thinking about how many of this squad I’d be ‘gutted’ to lose. Even when we’ve been in League One there are usually a few faces that you just don’t want to see go.With this squad, I’m really struggling to think of players that we’d struggle to replace at this level.Jones and Bell are the only two that I think we’d really lose out on. Even then, Bell has his injury issues and Jones is now the wrong side of 30. Arguments can be made for Kayne, however he’s also been very up and down.
Just feels like there is an absolutely massive job this summer, and I don’t know how we pull it off.5 -
Preston, Blackburn and Charlton are eyeing moves for Bristol City winger Mark Sykes on a free transfer. Sykes, 28, is out of contract at Bristol City this summer and looks set to leave Ashton Gate.

25 starts this season. RW/RWB so would fit the brief. Will probably end up at PrestonEpsomAddick said:Preston, Blackburn and Charlton are eyeing moves for Bristol City winger Mark Sykes on a free transfer. Sykes, 28, is out of contract at Bristol City this summer and looks set to leave Ashton Gate.

Anything we do will indeed be better than what Nathan has offered up this season.1 -

I’m not sure why anyone Championship or above would be looking at him and thinking he’s worth pursuing. I think he’s okay, but I don’t think he’s cut out to play consistently well at this level. I would like him to stay and have a season with better players around him, but if we’re to progress and push on should we stay up, I see him as an impact subLewis Coaches said:

If we stay up, Lewis Wing is clearly one of the best attacking midfielders in L1. 11 goals and 11 assists in an unexceptional Reading team are very good numbers. Good at set pieces, and he's played every game, and nearly every minute.
Perhaps we could offer them Knibbs back as part of the deal...1 -
Shouldn’t we learn our lesson with signing league 1 top players??killerandflash said:If we stay up, Lewis Wing is clearly one of the best attacking midfielders in L1. 11 goals and 11 assists in an unexceptional Reading team are very good numbers. Great player but would be 31 by the time the season starts, and hasn’t touched championship football in the last 6 yearskillerandflash said:If we stay up, Lewis Wing is clearly one of the best attacking midfielders in L1. 11 goals and 11 assists in an unexceptional Reading team are very good numbers. Nothing wrong with signing the right L1 players. The right players, and ones that fit your system, rather than just hoovering up players because their numbers look good.Sword65pf said:

Makama and Galbriath stepped up successfully, Burrell was having a great season at QPR before his injury.
Millwall signed Azeez from Reading in 2024, he's now one of the best players in the Championship.8 -
But we didn’t, do the profile of players you mention want to play for jones?, are we as a club prepared to pay for those players? Many of us were satisfied with the punts we took this season from league 1, went a bit tits up.killerandflash said:
