Stuurman's injury is of course worse than expected, so his spell with us is over. That's overseas bowler 2673 we've broken.0

Interesting 2nd XI we've put out in a 3-day game against Sussex if only for the fact that the one person who probably needs less batting than most, Compton, has "retired not out" having scored just 9 runs. One has to assume that he might have some sort of injury.

Left-arm quick Chinmay Mullapudi is one of the three SACA players we have taken on and Cameron Jones is another seamer who came through the Worcestershire system, playing one 50-over first team match for them before last season being a fixture in the Sussex 2s.
Quinn and Parkinson have already bowled quite a few overs this season and the fact that they haven't been included might indicate that they will be in the first team squad for our next outing.0 -
Kent 2s, in their 1st innings, were 196 all out. In reply, Sussex were 267 all out. The one and only noteworthy performance was Ekansh with the ball in returning 4-33. If he can continue to elevate his bowling to become a fourth seamer in the first team then we will have a serious all-rounder on our side.
Now to the concern to come out of the game. Compton retired yesterday as mentioned above and the rumour is that he got hit on the hand. That might explain why Jaydn and Ollie Butterfill are opening the batting in the second innings instead of Compton and more to the point Dawkins given our imminent game against Worcestershire.0 -
Decently strong Sussex lineup out against them with a county experienced top 5 . Bowling attack is Danny Lamb and a bunch of youngsters although Nantes Oosthuizen seems to be one to keep an eye on, ex Surrey Academy and would be the next man up in our first team if Robbo gets injured.1

Curtiss became the third under 20 to become a centurion and the fourth to hit a half-century in the innings.
Add Dawkins to that quartet and we have five youngsters, all with dual disciplines, waiting in the wings albeit that Butterfill, the youngest of the lot at just 18, has yet to be awarded a rookie contract.
The important thing is to manage expectations, allow them to grow in the 2nd XI, call them up when the time is right and play them for the duration of the 50 over competition. Then, in a couple of years time, we might have the basis of a decent young side moving forward.2 -
Jas has Sussex in a bit of trouble at 20-3. He had Thomas LBW and then cleaned up both Tear and Ibrahim.3

Carter is such a weird player. Feels like when you've got a footballer and you think this is going to be their breakout season and it's finally going to click. He's got talent and could be keeping for us next season as I don't expect Simpson to stay but he's never really going to force his way into the CC side barring injury.Addick Addict said:Match drawn. I watched quite a bit of him on stream in Adelaide this season and he certainly didn't impress as reflected by 427 runs at 23.72 from 19 innings. His stats here in all forms of the game aren't impressive either and he might be someone who, ultimately, will struggle to make a career in the game given it's almost five years since he made his Sussex debut.MarcusH26 said:

He's flattered to decieve at County level tbh. Will probably play in the ODC but bar that I don't see the path for him at Sussex , Charlie Tear has leapfrogged him probably in terms of getting in and around the first team picture. Hopefully I don't have to watch Tom Alsop keep at any stage after how poor he's been in the BBL!Addick Addict said:

His dismissal in preseason to Ben Raine against Durham kinda summed him up really, the most ridiculous leave that's taken off stump out the ground.1 -

So, Compton, following being hit on the hand in the 2s game is included in the squad to face Worcestershire - he retired as a "precaution". The not so good news is that, in addition to Stuurman's stint ending prematurely, both Stewart and Quinn are now injured too. Jas and Jadyn have been left out too from the XI that played against Northants.
A squad of 13 has been named with Dawkins, Parkinson, Cohen and Ekansh now included. I have a sneaking feeling that Ekansh might fill the number 8 berth with the other bowling spot being a toss up between, depending on the wicket, Parkinson and Cohen:

Totally dominant start by the Kent openers at 15-0 off 10 overs. Compton, in particular, has been imposing himself with 4 runs off 38 balls. Crawley has been going about his business with 13 (22)3 -
