We seriously lack quality especially in midfield.
We need to go for quality over quantity.
Our squad is plenty big enough as it is.
I would rather sign 4 or 5 players that will improve our starting eleven rather than sign about ten players who can't.
Frustrates me when people say we need to sign 'X' player as back up, our next 4-5 signings need to be starters.
Nice to agree with one another eventually  x

Next task is to avoid a second season relegation, something that has plagued the following teams in the last few seasons:

    - Oxford 25/26
    - Plymouth 24/25
    - Rotherham 23/24
    - Blackpool 22/23

We will need some upgrades but also keeping a core of the squad that is willing to battle for every point and continue our consolidation will be vital.

Stockport have a winger who can play on both flanks and also at wing back! Can also score an important goal
  • Right, now we are safe let's restart the debate!

Root and branch cull of this team, have to be ruthless if we want to progress.

I thought Springett looked useful against us at Carrow Road.
    Agreed

Also a local lad, I used to work with his mum at Myatt Garden school in Brockley.

Huge summer ahead, need several new starters that improve us while ensuring we still have depth to handle injuries and suspensions.

I hope we fully explore the options out there rather than focusing on making loanees permanent and offering Dykes. The January signings have all done a good job but we need better if we’re to finish higher.

Won't happen in one window though. Start by getting in even a few of genuine quality to start off with and gradually start shedding the ones we don't need any more. We can't afford (literally) to just bin off most of the squad and start again,  as much work as there is to do.

Have to be careful not to turn the squad into a bunch of strangers who won’t graft. That’s what’s got teams into trouble in the second season before, similar outcomes as teams not doing enough.

6 or 7 high quality additions which push current starters into cameo roles would be my sweet spot.

I’m sure it was said before, but I could see us going for Stanley Mills if Oxford go down as a more attacking RWB option. Showed a few nice touches yesterday and every time I’ve seen him. He just feels like a Jones player.

For a ‘winger’ he has great defensive statistics and contributions (other than the amount of times he’s been dribbled last). And even in a poor Oxford team he still has decent attacking stats, notably number of shots, successful dribbles and expected assists.
I really don’t get why people rate Mills. I’d hope we can do better.

For once, I think we have the football staff in place to have this all planned out already. Makes it harder with the World Cup but hope to get things done nice and early.

Expect released lists etc to come out soon.

We paid decent money for Tanto. If we swap them I'd want some of that money back too.

Hopefully we'll sit down with Ramsay, Jones and Coventry now, all three have their Contracts expire next summer

Today was food for thought,  as two of last summer's signings who've not played much, Kelman and Knibbs were both effective. And in a different style of play to the one we've used in recent weeks.

And Fevrier has gone from a squad player,  to someone who looks an asset.

Coventry is a strange one. I expected him to be a regular this season,  but he hasn't stepped up really.

With transfers, we’ve probably only paid 30-50% of the fee so far…

swap him for Fev and cancel the debt, and be sorted with it!

And why would Stockport be happy to do that?

Lankshear would be worth a punt if Spurs don’t go down

Well, they'd get Tanto back plus the 400/500k fee we have already paid them. Assuming they want Tanto back permanently.

I would be amazed if they do. He’s been limited to 30 mins a game for weeks and hasn’t really made an impact. Meanwhile Fev is starting to show talent against Championship players. We’d prefer Fev and they probably would too

I still think TC may well be off. Looks to me (from
his demeanour which is open to interpretation of course) like he’s had his head turned and will have some suitors.

He will know that staying put is likely not his best financial move unless of course the owners throw caution to the wind on a squad rebuild such that we will be a real threat next year.
Had his head turned ??? The way he played this season be lucky to get a club in league one

We turned down an offer from Middlesbrough in January for Coventry … his injury has restricted his mins he can now have the operation and get fit in time for August

No space for sentimentality, regardless of how good today feels.

Jones, Bell, Edwards and Ramsay are good enough to start imo and everyone else needs an upgrade.
