As good as he was today, it was only a few days ago that he failed to make any impact on a game. I'm still not convinced he's good enough (yet) to lead a front line in this division, but another season to improve from bench and he might bestonemuse said:

Jones, Bell, Edwards and Ramsay are good enough to start imo and everyone else needs an upgrade.

Agreed but I would also look at an upgrade on Gillesphey to potentially even take Bell's place in the team which as good as he's been he's had a few injuries this season and we really need to upgrade on Gillesphey it has to be one of the key areas of recruitment so we don't go through another winter collapse.Croydon said:No space for sentimentality, regardless of how good today feels.

Jones generally has set us up to predominantly defend and sacrifice possession. That has to change for next season. Today when I looked at the team sheet I was pretty surprised. It was a brave and much needed change by Jones and it paid off handsomely. We’re certainly not going to blaze a trail through The Championship next season but to progress we need a fundamental change in ethos and that means quite a few changes to personnel.7
-
Listening to Jones’ interview I don’t see him being too sentimental
I can see a high turnover of players this summer, he clearly doesn’t see us as a struggling side next season5 -
I wouldn’t be surprised or disappointed by any outgoings - our squad individual talents and combined ability means all are replaceable. Lloyd for example might go as potentially has interest from
othersIt is the total squad changes which will be interesting and I doubt any of us know what Jones is plotting. We should remember however Schinjze represents one of the summer signings already.0 -
It’s going to be incredibly difficult to stomach but we can’t be too loyal to players this summer. A lot of business is going to be needed to be done and Jones looks like he knows that’s what needed as well. But hope all the departing players this summer gets the respectful send off they deserve. Besides Taylor, Tanto, Apter, Ahadme all of these lot have given it their all and shown the desire and love to be here1

Is there no way back for Apter? can't help but feel the 4-2-3-1 formation would suit him as a wide option?0

Based on his Bolton spell no chance, quality is one thing but a lot of Bolton fans saying he doesn’t care or puts a shift inMartinCAFC said:Is there no way back for Apter? can't help but feel the 4-2-3-1 formation would suit him as a wide option?7 -

Brechin City FC are delighted to announce the signing of experienced attacking midfielder Scott Fraser on a deal until the end of the season

Sounded like he didnt want to stay and fight for a place/the team, doubt he wears our colours ever again.MartinCAFC said:Is there no way back for Apter? can't help but feel the 4-2-3-1 formation would suit him as a wide option?1 -
Currie and lankshear from Oxford please3

To be fair I didn't see a lack of effort from those four.Crispywood said:It’s going to be incredibly difficult to stomach but we can’t be too loyal to players this summer. A lack of championship ability, then yes.
Taylor is out of contract so will leave.
The others will probably go out on loan again as their wages will be relatively higher than most league one clubs want to pay.
Tanto maybe a swap for Fevrier?
I hope Jones is more open to premier league loans although I get the reasons (developing other's players, January recalls) why he isn't.
Fullah, Mwamba, Kanu and Mbick on the first team fringe or to be loaned again? I'd keep the last two in the squad.
Both Mitchell's to depart. Both will be snapped up.
Anderson and Asiimwe I think will be sold. A real shame as I think both have potential. I hope we include a big future sell on fee.
Coventry I hear will leave. Plenty of league 1 clubs will want him.
Doc I expect to stay as club captain but be further down the pecking order.
All the other U21s out on loan will be released I believe as the very succesful U18s will all step up.
If it was me, which thankfully it isn't I'd be after a new keeper, i'd keep Clarke and Dykes, get a defender fitter than Burke and two left sided defenders to replace Macca and cover Edwards.
I'd like at least three new, pacy, skillful midfielders and two even faster forwards.
And I'd be looking abroad where there are likely to be some more affordable options.5 -
Would love Currie to compete with Josh but think Lankshear is more than likely going to be leading the line for Spurs at this level.AberystwythAddick said:Currie and lankshear from Oxford please0 -

I think personally, if your going to move forward you need a massive clear out
Kaminski
Gillesphey
Burke
Mitchell
Coventry
Berry
Apter
Tanto
Leaburn
Dykes
Unfortunately Godden
Ahadme
Taylor
Anderson
Obviously the loan players will head back, just means theres alot of work to do over the summer ( which i know is alot )1 -
Apter and Tanto weren’t willing to stay and fight for their spots Tanto even said he didn’t feel appreciated when he left. Ahadme deciding to reject the permanent switch to Bolton tells me his first priority is the money, tbf maybe being a bit harsh on Taylor but for me he always had good technical quality but never had that battling spirit which is why I don’t think he got much of a chanceHenry Irving said:

Stanley Mills and De Keersmackaer are the two we should be going for from Oxford and in positions we need too.Although I bet Stanley Mills gets a playoff pushing team as he’s the real deal and only 22.3

There is absolutely zero chance we get rid of all of those players. At least not this summer. Not because of their quality but having to find and afford genuine improvements for that many players at once is just not feasible and if we get rid of them all and can't get replacements/improvements we're fucked purely on a numbers basis.FAVADDICK said:I think personally, if your going to move forward you need a massive clear out

Over the next 12-18 months most of them will eventually be pruned off and (hopefully) improved on but it will be evolution not revolution.3 -

As long as it’s not Mrs Mills.soapboxsam said:elbiglad said:I’m sure it was said before, but I could see us going for Stanley Mills if Oxford go down as a more attacking RWB option. Showed a few nice touches yesterday and every time I’ve seen him. He just feels like a Jones player.
For a ‘winger’ he has great defensive statistics and contributions (other than the amount of times he’s been dribbled last). And even in a poor Oxford team he still has decent attacking stats, notably number of shots, successful dribbles and expected assists.
I have seen Stanley Mills play a few times now including last night and at 22 he looks decent.
NJ would probably prefer George Mills.0 -
Stanley Mills is quality and would be a great signing. I was hoping West Brom would drop and we’d be able to get Imray on the right hand side0

6 (half) of that list were out on loan this season so you're not really replacing them any way and Dykes is OOC. If we don't bring in 5 or so new starters we'll be in trouble again so that list isnt too far off the mark. Id keep godden though for the experience/mentor role though if his wage demands are not too high.thenewbie said:

imray is only on loan no reason we can’t try to make him permanent. But depends what Nathan Jones wants down that sideWoolwichAddick said:Stanley Mills is quality and would be a great signing. I was hoping West Brom would drop and we’d be able to get Imray on the right hand side1 -
I think we’ll end up with a more traditional RWB and a winger who can play there. The obvious first choice for the natural RWB is Bree, Fev could be worth it for the winger. Imray would be more in the Bree mould from what I’ve seen of himCrispywood said:

No chance we pick up Bree now considering how he’s done at Southampton since going backfenaddick said:

Rich Cawley asked NJ if he’d like to sign Fevrier permanently, good to see he wants more of a one on one threat going forward. That’s not what Bree or Clarke really offer, though we probably need to bring in 2 or 3 wing backs so I wouldn’t rule out us bringing in one of them or a similar type of player.
In that position we do need it (strengthened) - more of an individual and one-v-one threat going forward, because everyone has that. That is one thing we’ve asked the recruitment team to really identify.”1 -
For what it’s worth Imray would jump at the chance to play for us certainly that was the case when I last spoke to him about a year ago, he’s a fan.6
-
Surely West Brom blow us out of the water for Imray0
-
Josh Edwards will be like a new signing 😉😆0
