Yeah both under contract for another yearOh Eddie Youds... said:Are both Burke & Gillesphey under contract next season?
Interesting that you see Gillesphey moving on & Burke staying. Neither are up to the level in my opinion. Both too slow.0 -
A league 1 team might sign Gillesphey, he’s a good player at that level, we’d probably have to loan him out though and cover some of the wages. No one is signing Burke so he will have to stayOh Eddie Youds... said:Are both Burke & Gillesphey under contract next season?

I like a lot of our players, but looking at the squad there is only one that I would say is a must-keep, which is Jones. I'm expecting us to build around what we've got, but if the board makes the decision that the best thing to do is move any of the others on, I don't think any would be hard to justify, especially if we're moving to a more progressive style next year. Genuinely excited about the summer ins and outs.
Would like a cheeky bid for Coady and Fevrier though.3 -
Got a feeling Macca actually has two years left, think he got a further extension last summer (madness)MarcusH26 said:

Only one year plus a club option of another year.Covered_End_Lad said:

That's a good assessment, I think. Depends on if Ramsay and TC extend their contracts as we'll likely look to sell them otherwise. We also have Gough, so definitely no need for more RCB cover imho.sam3110 said:My way too early to call predictions for the squad next season are:
Keepers
Kaminski, Mannion, Brookes
Despite a lot of discontent and talk on here about them not being good enough, keeper won't be an issue in NJ and the recruitment team's eyes and they'll leave it as is
Wingbacks
New, New, Edwards, New
The biggest change to the squad, Chambers and Clarke will move on, Fevrier won't return, and Ramsay will stay at RCB, meaning we'll look to sign an entirely new set of wingbacks, save for the returning Edwards. Expect Bree to be in the conversation.
Centre backs
Sichenje, Ramsay, Burke, Jones, Bell, New
Not much change here, a new LCB in to replace Gillesphey, but as long as they are all fit (hahahaha) then it's not a bad contingent to have
Central Midfielders
New, New, Coventry, Docherty, Costello
2 starters needed here to relegate the rest to squad players, one needs to be a proper box to box midfielder, with an eye for a forward pass, the other needs to be mobile and tough tackling
Attacking Midfielders
Carey, Knibbs, New
A new number 10 to replace Berry, but not much change here
Attackers
Kelman, Campbell, Leaburn, New, New
A target man to replace Dykes and another winger/striker in to replace Apter in the squad
This would see Gillesphey, Mitchell, Mitchell, Asiimwe, Anderson, Berry, Godden, Apter, Olaofe all leave in some way, alongside all the loanees.
Mbick, Fullah, Kanu, Gough and Mwamba all to be the youngsters starting to integrate into the squad, maybe Kanu goes on loan again to league 1 this time.
9 signings, not actually a massive turnover but hopefully enough of them are starters to push us on a bit0 -
L1 teams would be interested in Gillesphey. No one else will want Burke given his injury record.Oh Eddie Youds... said:Are both Burke & Gillesphey under contract next season?

Gillesphey had a successful spell there previously as well. Maybe we could do a 2 for 1 deal with them for both Mitchell and Gillesphey? :-)0 -
The fact that the team we played yesterday are going into the final day joint sixth shows that with sensible rectruitment and coaching/management, the goal isn't insurmountable. Hull really weren't great yesterday. The signing of Sichenje suggests that we will be a bit more adventurous this summer. As long as the club keep their focus and togetherness, I'd be hopeful of a more consistent season next year.15

I'd still be activating the option on Goddens deal. Kelman should be the starter but Goddens experience will still be invaluable.26

Godden is probably on quite a good wage. If we want to keep him, I’d renegotiate a new contract rather than activate the option to extend at his current wageMarcusH26 said:I'd still be activating the option on Goddens deal. Burke is 10x the player Macca is problem is the poppadom Hamstrings. No club will touch him with his injury problems.Whereas Macca is always fit left footed and has a recent L1 promotion on his CV. We won’t get a lot of money for him but there’s enough there to intrigue clubs from L11 -

I agree - transform our midfield/wings in this window and there will be nothing betweeen us and the likes of Hull - people talk about how lucky we were to have teams with points deductions but they forget that we came up with 2 unique clubs in that they were mega spenders - next year's 3 that come up will go straight into the relegation equation - a good summer's transfer business and i think we'll stop looking at this division as the 'monster' that people perceive - Leicester's squad is monster if you go by wages and transfer fees !! Passing around dud overpaid players is what you need to avoid.RC_CAFC said:The fact that the team we played yesterday are going into the final day joint sixth shows that with sensible rectruitment and coaching/management, the goal isn't insurmountable. Always liked Brannagan at Oxford, turns 30 in May but think he’s an upgrade on our central midfielders1

He won’t be leaving Oxford, they’ve managed to hold n to him this long. I think he will be their until he retiresCarl_bratton said:Always liked Brannagan at Oxford, turns 30 in May but think he’s an upgrade on our central midfielders1 -

i did think that but not sure he's what we need tbh - we need some fluid ball carrying players out wide and in the middle - that ain't himCarl_bratton said:Always liked Brannagan at Oxford, turns 30 in May but think he’s an upgrade on our central midfielders0 -
I like Brannagan but I don’t think we will spend a big fee on a player unless there’s some resale value. That seems to be our policy and it’s a pretty good one in fairnessCarl_bratton said:Always liked Brannagan at Oxford, turns 30 in May but think he’s an upgrade on our central midfielders2 -
Weirdly enough I’ve said before we need to stop recruiting league 1 players but there’s three I want to sign and are all playing in that division.Sam tickle (probably out of our budget)
ethan pye
Amario Cozier-Duberry ( providing we play with wingers)4 -
Cozier-Duberry is on loan from Brighton , not sure he'd fit our shape though. Would rather we'd signed Pye than Tanto last summer000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Weirdly enough I’ve said before we need to stop recruiting league 1 players but there’s three I want to sign and are all playing in that division.Sam tickle (probably out of our budget)

I think all 3 will have a lot of interest from teams higher up than us in the league, which unfortunately probably rules us out. Maybe a chance with Pye and he’d be a great signing. Brighton will send ACD to a better footballing/attacking side than us000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Weirdly enough I’ve said before we need to stop recruiting league 1 players but there’s three I want to sign and are all playing in that division.Sam tickle (probably out of our budget)

I dont like Dykes, no threat. AM and MG to Plymouth as px for Pepple might be a decent punt. Also Jatta at Notts County is a 1 in 2 striker and a pacy unit with his contract up. Drip feed Kanu and Mbick, perhaps sell Godden. That would leave money to upgrade our midfield, none of which I want to see as starters next year. Tom Iorpenda as a 10? Convert Miles to midfield? Edwards/Bell as LCB, Mills as RWB backed by JF/Asiimwe the latter underused by JJ. New LWB and Fevrier as cover. A WIP LCB.Fortune 82nd Minute said:

Will be interesting to see how much the owners will invest this summer.
I really do think we need;
- a goalkeeper
- 2 wing backs
- creative midfielder
- ball carrying attacking midfielder
- a striker
- at least 1 winger, maybe 2It’s how we develop goal scoring opportunities that may dictate how we do next season. We need better service to our front line and midfield need to chip in with a few goals too.
I think there are potential signings all over the place, but the clear-out and new business needs to start early doors, like Curbs use to do.
if we are still trying to sort out our squad in July, I will be worried.
NJ needs the Board, owners and scouts to really step up in the next 2-3 months.2 -
