Maybe, but we were undoubtedly a better team with him in it. It doesn’t feel hyperbolic to say we would have been relegated were it not for his impact. Replacing him with better is a really big call and I think we may miss him next season.Crispywood said:

We were 100% better with him in it and I’m not denying we may have gone down but there was going to be no guarantee he could match the same levels as he’s only getting older, and don’t get me wrong he has been good but I think Coventry playing well below was always going to make him look betterse9addick said:

We’ve had a few good young loan signings recently (JRS, Gallagher, etc) but don’t recall a loan signing as significant as Coady in the latter stage of his career since the late great Jorge Costa. Well played CC. Huge part of keeping us up and I was dead against your signing.14

He's played for Charlton now, so its safe to hire him as a Manager one day - Given we cant seem to get promoted without the Manager having had some form of connection with the club prior to taking on the big job anymore.bolloxbolder said:I reckon he will be a great manager in time5 -
I don't think that's true. Dykes' form has dipped recently but he's been central to us gaining a number of points this season by being direct, putting defenders under pressure and having surprisingly good finishing. The stuff Kelman has done the last two games up against defenders is exactly what Dykes was bringing earlier on; pressing defenders, forcing mistakes and using his strength to get that second ball. His goal against West Brom was him running off the defender's shoulder, taking a great first touch and drilling it under the keeper. Against Leicester it was similar, ran off his defender and latched on to a good cross behind the defence. Against Bristol City he picked the ball up out wide, linked up brilliantly with Kelman and put a good finish past the keeper. He's created goals for us with his head but he's also shown how important it is for us to have a physical presence who can win that second ball on the ground and get in behind defences. Before his recent loss of form he's been far more than just a player who we bung long balls up to, he's pressed and harried on the ground better than any of our strikers since January barring Kelman's burst of quality in the last two games.wmcf123 said:

The thing with Coady (and Dykes come to think of it) is that what he offers purely in technical terms is fairly easy to replace, someone to sit deep and send a few long passes is the straightforward bit to search for when you also need to get someone who also has his experience, leadership and influence... but preferably NOT his wage.1

Connor Coady will be recognised as one of the best loan signings this club has ever made and rightly so. Made a fantastic impact and was pivotal in our survival. Many thanks Connor (I'd love to see you back next season.........)15

I thought Conor was all talk and no trousers at first, turns out he was all talk and plenty of trousers, I’ve no doubt his influence in the dressing room, but more importantly on the pitch was a massive part in us staying up, he was encouraging players constantly on Saturday, one of those was when TC made a run and cross, he was straight over telling him to keep doing it. Hopefully some of the others have learnt from him.7

Although they haven’t played a blinder, as paid £2m for someone who played 5 times for them. Getting to other clubs to partly pay wages is smart, but they still spent £2m which didn’t help there season at all.AberystwythAddick said:

His instagram post saying that people make football clubs, and that our club is full of great people also made me smile.
Aside from the impact he had on the pitch for us, he seemed to really enjoy being here. Superb loan signing of a really good player who also happens to be a top fella too26 -

You could argue that his contribution for us last Saturday assisted their bid for the playoffs , so indirectly he did help their season.stoneroses19 said:

I've always been a big fan of Conor Coady. At the height of his powers he was without a doubt one of the best English CHs and I was so pleased he made it into the England set up.Have his legs gone? I'm not sure they were ever there but that's not his game. What he does so well is to apply his guile, experience, and his reading of the game (football intelligence as they call it now). His influence on those around him cannot be underestimated either - a true leader.Being without him over the past four months would have increased our chances of relegation hugely and of all the January loanees he has had the most influence - that is a tribute to him and also to Jonesy and the back room recruitment staff.Conor should be financially secure for life (deserved) so he can do whatever he wants to do moving forwards, for himself and his lovely family. A model professional and if it's what he wants I'm sure he can be a success as a manager.A heartfelt thank you, Conor - you'll always be welcome at The Valley.33

Of all the talk about the recruitment it has gone a bit under the radar how smart it was to bring him in to play midfield, a position he hadn’t really played for years. It was an eyebrow raiser at first but it makes complete sense with the benefit of hindsight. Someone else likened his influence to that of the late great Jorge Costa. I wasn’t lucky enough to watch Costa but I do know that Coady came in for a few months, added stability, leadership and a bit of class. One of the best bits of business we’ve done in years22

I was really taken by surprise when Conor Coady showed up and even more so when he played as a '6' and not as a CB.
I knew he had played in midfield in his younger days but I presumed those days were over.
Coady's influence on and off the pitch shouldn't be underestimated and despite Conor's legs being slow his football brain is still Sharp.
Conor played 11 games and Cafc always seemed more organised when he was in the team.
I will listen to the normally articulate fan from other Championship club on with Louis Mendez which is interesting but unknown Wrexham fans saying he was crap in his half dozen appearances becomes boring on other media platforms.
Not all clubs fits all.
Top man CC and he will be successful whether he continues as a pundit or goes into coaching once his playing days are history.
10 games for England between 2020/22 as a CB shows someone in our recruiting did well to get this loan deal done.👏🏻💪🏼

Look I'm very aware that it could all just be lip service, and he's probably way too expensive for us, but he's been largely brilliant in his time here and listening to him in the post game interview it sounds like he's absolutely loved it here

Listening to Conor's video interview post Swansea on the OS, sounds like he would love to sign for next season, which I feel would be a good signing, depends how Wrexham are with a sensible discussion8

I was far from impressed when we signed Conor but I was completely wrong been an excellent loan signing and has improved the team when playing
Loved his video interview after the game and feel he would be happy to stay and has a real affection for the club. Let’s see what transpires4
