Summer Window 2026 - Rumours and Discussion

Someone who doesn't understand football offered George Dobson a poor contract with not much of an extension.
Luckily, slowly but surely most of the people who haven't got a scooby doo have left. Nathan Jones would have loved Dobson to stay and Dobson wanted to stay as well.
Also a bit harsh to judge him on a performance against Coventry of all teams, and only one incident, he still got motm for Wrexham
Make no mistake, if he joined back he walks into our midfield and would be one of our better players overrall. I'd genuinely need a change of underwear if he joined back as he's still class and fills a void we still need. Someone who gets about a bit and can actually ping a pass.16 -
Charlton in Dundee derby scouting mission as two stars on summer transfer radarThe English Championship side have been keeping tabs on United's Will Ferry and Dundee's Luke Graham. Chelmsford have informed striker Lyle Taylor he is free to leave the club.

Wasn't Will Ferry mentioned as a target a while back? Maybe when he was at Cheltenham?3

And Luke Graham is a left footed CB who's name has also come up before. Pompey had 2 bids rejected in Jan3

It would be surprising if he didn't have a high completion % given how simple most of his passing is.Ruffdiamond said:
But he can’t make a forward passPavoren007 said:
Genuinely not sure where all the background to all this is coming from.thenewbie said:
I suppose for Coventry specifically his consistency was one of his best features though - he was rarely a match winning player on his own but you know exactly what you are getting. He's got quite a limited role but he did it very well.soapboxsam said:Blucher said:
Presumably Millwall's sell-on is 20% of any profit on what we paid (£200,000 ?), whereas West Ham's is a straight 50%, as Coventry was on a free.AddicksAddict said:

Amazing how player's can be praised like Conor Coventry was during last season and the first half of this season but then suddenly being spoken of in the past tense and going from Mr Consistency to losing his place.
No wonder so many footballers are insecure because of the highs and lows of their careers.
As soon as he started losing consistency he becomes someone who has a limited role that he wasn't even doing that well and Coady coming in to basically "out Coventry" him was fantastic for the team but a blow to Coventry himself.
I thought Conor Cov was carrying a knock and having been playing week in week out got a much needed breather and recovery when Coady signed? Nothing has changed in Cov’s game or his consistency from what I have seen. He has either been directed to sweep in front of the back three with short passing or hit the wing or big man - mainly the big man which can look good, bad or indifferent depending how effective the player out top is playing.Cov’s stats on passing are the highest performing in our squad this season at close to 80% -
1. Conor Coventry · 78.9% ; 2. Macaulay Gillesphey · 72.6% ; 3. Lloyd Jones · 75.7% ; 4. Amari'i Bell · 75.5% ; 5. Kayne Ramsay · 75.5%.
Interestingly all of our highest passing players are at the back which helps explain why so few goals were scored as more often than not you would hope a b2b midfielder or CAM would hold the top spot.
Anyway, do not think he is going anywhere and will have benefitted from his first season back in the Championship since his spell at Rotherham.0 -
Ferry is an attacking left wing back who Jones "may" know from his time at Southampton (looks like he may have been on-loan at the time though). Definitely sounds plausible.RonnieMoore said:Charlton in Dundee derby scouting mission as two stars on summer transfer radarThe English Championship side have been keeping tabs on United's Will Ferry and Dundee's Luke Graham. Luke Graham is young player of the year in Scotland and both Rangers and Celtic have been after him. Don't see him moving south with their interest likely to result in bids.0

The English Championship side have been keeping tabs on United's Will Ferry and Dundee's Luke Graham
Charlton Athletic ran the rule over Will Ferry and Luke Graham in the Dundee derby. The Addicks’ head of recruitment Phil Chapple took in United’s impressive 3-0 win over their city rivals. Dundee United’s Will Ferry netted two goals in a man-of-the-match performance. The English Championship side has had the former Southampton player on their radar all season. Ferry is entering the final year of his contract and interest is heating up.Ferry, 25, was the subject of a failed bid from Vancouver Whitecaps last summer.
United have kicked off a player trading model.
They sold Nikolaj Moller for big money to Sandefjord in the winter window.
They also have several of their players attracting interest going into the summer.
Charlton Athletic is also amongst a string of English Championship clubs that have an interest in Dundee’s Graham.
The central defender was the subject of a club record £1.5million bid from Portsmouth in the last window.
Dundee turned that down and since then Rangers, several other English and European clubs have scouted the Scotland under-21 cap.
Graham is also going into the final year of his contract at Dundee.
The Dark Blues have made it clear that the 22-year-old will only be sold if it suits the club and the player.
It remains to be seen if the pair have done enough for Charlton to firm up their interest with bids.
The pair will likely continue to be watched over the final four games of the season.

That Will Ferry has an absurdly high/consistent rating on sofascore in the Scottish Prem.
Never heard of him but he's the 3rd highest rated player in the whole league.
That heat map would make Nathan Jones knock one out I reckon. Looks to have insane work rates.17 -
Can we nickname him ‘Woolwich’ if we sign him? 😉😆
(Lets hope he’s not only able to offer a one footed (boat) service)16 -

Nice rumour that. I'd be happy with Ferry and Graham seems highly rated.6
-
There’s your LCB and LWB sorted. Actively known that Portsmouth wanted Graham and Blackburn want Ferry so good opportunity to see how we can compete with other championship sides11
-
As we all know Josh Edwards came from the Scottish Championship so I'm more than happy for us to be scouting in Scotland, clearly there is some affordable talent to found north of the border.9
-
I hoped we would go for Graham last summer, looks very promising.0

Wow, he looks the part in those clips. Hope we can get him. Perhaps Josh and Doc can have a wee word.0

There was a Woolwich Ferry boat named the Will Crooks (after a local MP) in the 60s.EpsomAddick said:

Was another Dundee defender a couple of years back Josh Mulligan who we were very heavily linked with. Ended up at Hibs in the end.0
-
I seem to remember Ferry and Graham being mentioned in JanuaryAm definitely surprised though we've not signed more players from Scotland already given Edwards' successBut then I also think that Jones wanted players he knew, didn't need to take much of a risk on, and has previously worked with last year, simply to help secure Championship Football. Now we've done that, we'll hopefully be a bit more daring with our signings.2

Cheers Callum for the clips! A 6ft 4 left footed CB that can play out like Graham looks absolutely ideal for what we need. Just hope he's someone we don't get gazumped by the Old Firm for.5
