Probably find that most of out players have been playing with an injury.4

This is what really gets me as well. I understand people getting frustrated with how he plays. He's quick and people want him to be more direct but he often isn't. He often misplaces simple passes which can be really irritating. His finishing isn't good. I get all that and I can see how someone might add all that up and decided it costs more than he brings but whenever I see someone call him lazy it just tells me that they have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. It's that typical thing of fans mistaking body language for actual output and not watching players off the ball or having a look at how much ground they cover. TC doesn't do enough to do the thinking for those sorts of fans and it shows in them claiming he doesn't care on the pitch. It's bizarre.NabySarr said:So it turns out that TC has been playing through injury for the last month, and in Jones words “TC has shown his bravery and his commitment to the club. That is why I love him”I still find it mental that some fans call him lazy and worse, fair play to TC for putting the club first when he easily could have not played and kept himself fit for what might come this summer22 -
Or fans thinking that he should have an unlimited amount of energy to chase down every single lost cause like a headless chicken, only to be caught out of position when his closing down is ineffective as it's not backed up by team mates. Then blame him for being out of position, then blame him for not having the speed 2 minutes later to acutally chase something worthwhile.Garrymanilow said:

I had someone sit behind me recently, one of the home games we lost. He was quite positive except for Carey's corners and any time Campbell hadn't done something he wanted him to do, whilst ignoring if it was even possible or realistic to expect him to have antiscipated the ball was going a certain way. The worst was when TC had just been put to LWB in the 70th minute or so, Ramsey played some mental diagonal ball that was overhit and just ran out for a throw near the corner flag. Yep, it's somehow TC's fault for not chasing it!4 -
Nathan Jones has his data, fans don't. If Nathan is happy, the person who has the data, we can just ignore those that don't calling him lazy. I don't know either, but at least undertsand how this works. It is those black vests they wear under their shirts FFS!1

Jones the manager rates TC very highly and has noticeably come out in support of him in recent weeks when what is now probably a minority of fans have been on his back. Fair play to the manager for trying to relieve some of the pressure on the young man.2

Its probably because of Ivor the engine3

Considering all the criticism aimed at TC this season, how the hell did he finish 3rd in POTY were all the others that bad?
Equally surprised Sony Carey coming 2nd and no place for Amari Bell?0 -

Vocal criticism doesn’t mean it’s what the majority think, just what the loudest think. Carey scored a lot of goals (by our standards) and Bell’s injury issues likely cost him 3rdsillav nitram said:PWR

I could have made either Carey or Bell second.
I'd probably have gone with Bell on the basis that there was a time when we didn't seem to win unless he was playing and Carey certainly faded towards yhe end of the campaign.
TC 4th for me. Without doubt our most exciting player imo. Knows how to get in yer knickers, but can't seem to make you cum. ( There are probably better analogies)1 -
Calling Tyreece lazy is simply bizarre. We've all seen how much Jines wants a high press, intense workrate and constant movement. If Tyreece played all the games he has, can anyone seriously imagine Jones wouldn't have noticed and dropped him? NJ may tolerate a few sins, but laziness isn't one of them.7
-
He's given his all. But, the reality is, if TC plays 45 games again next season, we'll continue to struggle scoring more than 1 goal a game.3
-
Anonymous yesterday, did nothing.
Without him we played exciting attacking football, always had an out ball and had pace up top.
What does he contribute?14 -
Tyresse Campbell missed having Thierry Small on the other flank being doubled marked as we saw last season.
When TC is the only flair player expected to go past players then the burden can be too great. That's why it was good to see Fevrier step up last week and in most of his cameos over the last 6 weeks.
TC is by nature a right winger and Nathan who praised him a tad too much in public(fine in private)but because of his penchant for wingbacks meant when Edwards got crocked early doors, Tyresse was asked as a right footer to be a LWB and when defending against Champ right wide men to perform.
It was a big ask of TC to fit into the system that NJ wants as his Plan A.
For his first season in the Championship, despite what 'Ronnie Moore' from the Plymouth Gazette states, Tyreese did ok.
I feel next season TC should be used more from the bench when we are in attacking mode trying to garner a point than to use him when we are trying to hold on to a win or draw as he is still careless in general play and I don't just means the higher jeopardy moments of going past his defender.
It was a learning curve for players and fans/critics alike after being back in the 2nd tier after the gap of 5 seasons away in the wilderness of Burton, Fleetwood, Cheltenham etc.

But without him, unless we do some very good business this summer, we will struggle to get up the pitch and create the chances to score more than 1 goal a gameLittleAddick said:He's given his all. I do agree with your point though. He still has an important role to play next season if we can get him on a new contract. But a big part of our summer business needs to be to make us less reliant on TC, and that might even help him develop as it will take some of the pressure off him4 -
Need to take a lot of the attacking weight off him. Nowhere near enough pace in the rest of the side.
Go and get another couple of pacey final third threats and I think things will look a lot better.
Then again on the other hand I could see his head being turned if someone came along and said he'd play off the flank in a 433....5 -
The “lazy” thing really annoys me. You can question a players ability, but criticism of effort generally comes from people that think the game should be played in their style rather than the plan of the manager.
if there is a lazy player, the body worn trackers and multiple analysts would point it out, and the player would be nowhere near the team.2 -

I’m not a big TC fan but he was let down by the recruitment over summer. Other than a good few months in the promotion season he has struggled to show anything more than flashes of talent in his career and it was obvious that he wasn’t ready to be the main man in a Championship team. In an ideal world our recruitment this summer will be good enough for him to be a squad player next season, rotating between starting line up and the bench so that he can be taken out of the firing line when necessary without us losing all attacking threat. As poor as he’s been this season I’ve not given up hope.1

This is a very good post:
Gary and I don't see eye to eye on certain players but this is a top analysis on TC.
There's a reason why managers, head coaches and Analyst's watch games back as whatever your view point it's impossible to see every run of every player during a match.
You can see a player on the ball but what positions are players 60 yards from the ball taking up.
Mixing up body language and actual output is a regular thing with fan/critics, pleased others can see it But
reading body language in many situations is a skill especially if you have a hot head player like Romero at Spurs who can be wound up and goes over the edge.
TC has the polar opposite traits of the Spurs captain and he will need to mature and improve to have a top career but he has already achieved more than most of his peer group.
I'm uncertain of the ceiling for TC as he goes hot and cold and I don't think it's laziness, just his languid style.

I feel TC has been poorly managed. He has been asked to play too many positions and I think he is generally confused by what he should be doing in the role he is playing. That is why he just stops running and looks lazy. He should be allowed to concentrate on playing one position well which would boost his confidence before being asked to fill in other roles. In the end he is the one who suffers by Jones insistence to keep playing him when all can see he is struggling.0
-
The debate around TC should never be around 'laziness' as I think his workrate is one of his best traits.
It's simply a matter of quality in the final third and to be I think Campbell is not productive enough in that area of the pitch. His attacking return has been very poor considering the minutes and position he has been playing in all season.
If it were Tanto playing the amount of minutes Campbell has done, with the output that Campbell has produced, we'd be saying that it was a poor bit of business.1 -
I don’t think anyone argues with the fact we need to see more quality in the final third from TCSELR_addicks said:The debate around TC should never be around 'laziness' as I think his workrate is one of his best traits.

I think there is a big difference between someone like Tanto and TC though. When TC is on the pitch, we are usually a better team, even if he’s not having a great game personally. He’s also a 22 year old that’s clearly a work in progress, Tanto is a 26 year old signed for a 7 figure fee so you expect him to deliver and of course would judge him more harshly than you would TC2 -
This is a very fair point but we haven’t spent £1m+ on TC and his wages will be lower than Tanto. He also does a lot more defensively. I don’t think it’s a like for like comparison. The comments from the Stockport reporter on Rich’s substack about how Tanto is bulkier and slower than last season suggest that he was brought in to replace Aneke rather than play the TC roleSELR_addicks said:The debate around TC should never be around 'laziness' as I think his workrate is one of his best traits.

I personally really like TC and was happy to see him get third place in the POTY voting last week. Hopefully he can see from that, that a lot of fans do rate him.
One of the very few players we have (if not the only player) that can skin opposition players, get you off your seat & deliver a bit of excitement.4 -
Like NJ comments about changes in the squad for next season one has to be Campbell if NJ serious about first game next season seeing a vast improvement in the team .. that can not include Campbell …12
-
But he DONT create anything .. what’s the point if he don’t have an end product .. our goals per game is mainly down to Campbell only having 4 assists all seasonOh Eddie Youds... said:I personally really like TC and was happy to see him get third place in the POTY voting last week. I know you’re not a serious poster but he’s created our most chances from open play this season so that’s just blatantly falseRonnieMoore said:
