Seems unlikely but maybe giving the loan/short term players one last performance to impress?
Think he's giving them a sentimental send off game given the result doesn't really matter now.  Same for Coady as captain over Jones.

Not what I've have done but doesn't really matter!
We lost only one game where Coady started out of eleven. Him or somebody like him, with bags of upper level experience, nous and leadership qualities, would be very good to have next season as well.

    Great game last week Charlie.

As a reward you get to watch Lyndon Dykes barely run about and fall over every few minutes whilst failing to control the ball once or register a shot on target.

I know it means nothing but that lineup is dull.
At last someone on here that thinks the same way as me. I just don’t get it.

    Isn’t Kelman carrying a knock?

Jones said that Campbell has been playing through injury so it was likely he wouldn't be playing.

3/4 of that lot will not be here next season. Hopefully a few sign off in style!

No Fullah is the really disappointing one for me. What a chance to get 90 minutes under his belt ahead of next season.

    Strange.
Don’t worry, he’ll probably come on in the 85th minute..

Not a moan, but it's funny that we aren't overly keen on loans (unless essential) to give our own players a chance, and now we've got the perfect opportunity to do just that, but are playing players on loan/short term contracts 🙃.
Pencilled in on the list for summer signings 😉

Been a pleasure supporting Charlton along with you all on these Match Threads this season though. As someone who doesn't go to games anymore, its nice being able to connect with others and feel like I'm not watching the games on my own... Hope you all have a great summer!!
Got to entertain myself on the train for the next 20 minutes somehow mate
You can get knicked for that.

Chances for Dykes, Fevrier and Clarke to show that they should be here next season. A send off for Coady, Chambers and possibly Gillesphey and Coventry. Everyone on that bench except Berry should be here next season so the lineup makes sense from that perspective. Berry will no doubt get his moment to sign off and we’ll probably see Fullah and Gough get some minutes. Given our injuries I wasn’t expecting a team too different to that really.

Just don’t understand dropping Kelman, scores a great goal, plays well, gets dropped. Next season we need more consistency up top. If we want Charlie to be hitting 15+ goals next season he needs a run in the team.
Makes no sense at all unless he's carrying a knock. After last week his confidence must have been flying, don't know why players who won't be here next year are starting.

I’m not sure I said people couldn’t have an opinion?

The relentless negativity this year has been hard work. We’re safe. Can’t we all just try and enjoy it without the usual negativity. It’s draining

Because Jones still wants to finish as high up the League as possible, win today and we end two places higher in 17th
If we achieve that we potentially appear an even more serious proposition to players in the summer

The thing is, if Kelman has a knock, why are we even putting him on the bench
    in a dead rubber?

I don’t like being overly negative but the line up feels like it’s oddly safe in a game where we do have a chance to experiment. That opportunity doesn’t come along a lot at this level.

It’s seriously irked me that he’s dropped Kelman again. If he has a knock it’s understandable but he’s done this so many times when Kelman starts to build momentum.

If it is 3-4-2-1 it is entirely reasonable to make the one up front a bigger target man. Kelman played that role well last week. But it is hardly unreasonable to look to play one of the bigger options. I haven’t watched Dykes and Leaburn train all week or assessed their relative levels of fitness, but I’m happy to go with the management team’s judgment on that

Kelman on as sub in second half once Dykes has worn them out. 0-1 Kelman with a volley 7 yards out.

Unlike some on here, I am going to sit back and enjoy the team NJ has picked without worrying about the score. Of course I want to win, but I hope we put on a good entertaining game, that gives us hope for next season

Jones has been here over 2 years now, I'd have thought we'd have all worked out by now his dream result is grinding out a 1-0 win with an 86th minute Luke Berry winner from a set piece.

Don't disagree though, wanted to see Kelman start and it could have been a good opportunity for Gough and/or Fullah to start.

Unless Kelman is not fully fit - in which case why risk him in a nothing game ?- I truly do not understand why he is not starting.

To quote Jones: 'It is not about trialling anything. What are we going to lean from anything done in just one game? Very little'. He doesn't see it as a chance to experiment, I think he wants to give the loanees one last chance to show something and to finish as high as possible

Could it be that he’s not quite fit enough to manage 90 minutes?

That does beg the question why you wouldn’t start him still, but might explain him being on the bench
