Got done on the day by some clinical finishes by Idah and Walta. Almost a carbon copy of what we did to Hull last weekend thanks to Kelman and Fevs. That’s football.
That’s the level of quality we’ll be aiming bringing into the building over the summer.
Bring on August already.5 -
Well that was a bit like after the Lord Mayors show..
Not truly bothered so long as we have a really good clearout!
As I said last week you can't do this League on the cheap so we have to hope the Board will do their bit.
Finishing 19th is better than I could of hoped for but we can't do this again next season, tougher teams, probably no points deductions so please buy quality and give us a fighting chance to improve.
Well done on the 2,000 amazing fans trekking all the way to Wales... Outstanding support all season.

What that showed me was how weak and poor our midfield is, strange team choice in the first place. Hopefully seen the Last of Coventry, Kaminsky, Gillespie, Bury, Dykes and a few others.8

Kelman and anyone up top together, he also linked up really well with Dykes when they played together, and even though things didn't click for him personally, early on in the season when we looked the most decent was when Kelman was up top with TC in the hybrid striker/winger roleCovered_End_Lad said:Seems such a wasted opportunity to try things like Kelman and Leaburn up top together, looked really good for the last 5-10 mins but why couldn’t we have done that for the first 60-70 mins?4 -
I don't even remember the last time I walked away from a Charlton game caring so little that we lost.
I think the fact that the nail-biter is for our women today plays a part, but I am also very happy to finish 19th and not 21st. Blackburn were 7th last season and we finished above them.
Does anybody know what was going on at half time? Some stewards came round and started asking several people to show their tickets. Obviously they couldn't ask everybody, but one lad was removed from the ground as he couldn't find his. He couldn't have got in without one, so I am assuming there was more to it and inspecting several tickets was just an excuse?4 -
A fitting end to the season but I am still buzzing that we are staying up. Lots to work on. We have some good youngsters and hope TC, Ibby and Gough all develop and progress. I know there are mixed views on Miles but I like him and still feel he has potential to be our key striker. Don't think we will see Dykes or any of the loanees next season and that's not a bad thing. Let's enjoy the summer now5

Unless I have this wrong, I believe that Idah's two goals today were his third against us this season making a total of seven goals for the season, not much of a return for a six million transfer fee.0

Poor Performance!
Dykes, Coventry & Clarke very poor.4 -
We always look a lot more fluid with Kelman and Leaburn upfront.9

Mirror image of the season really, started ok, but ultimately huffed and puffed with zero quality on the ball and next to no consistent goal threat. Why on earth are we playing loanees in a dead rubber? Why werent Fullah and Gough at the very least given some well earned game time?
Ridiculous dropping Kelman and moving Fevrier to a different position after his performance at wing back last week.
3-1 was a bit harsh, but we did nowhere near enough to win. Conceded two really poor goals, but conversely the free kick was a beauty.
Minimum 5 starters need to be signed in the summer or we are going to struggle next season.2 -
Glad that's all over. Job done last week, and this game showed us the level that's required to be a solid mid champ side, which we're are a long way off, as it stands. They were a cut above, more slick and powerful.
Our midfield needs a massive revamp. Jury is still out for me with Knibbs, today wasn't an indication of he can step up, due to being far from match fit. Coventry didn't offer much today, not sure he can cut it. I hope that's the last we see if Berry, he served us well in L1, but the speed and athleticism of the champ is beyond him now.
Same for Gillesphey I'm afraid, he also needs replacing. Burke can leave, I thought he was going to much better than he is, he's a liability now.
Clarke hasn't shown much the last couple of games, today was another 'meh' performance. If we stick with wingbacks, we need 3 new ones.
I'd be pissed off if I was Kelman, not getting a start after last week. I hope we don't sign Dykes, he's done a job for us since coming in, but I'd like better if we can afford it.
All in all, the season has been a success, we've survived better than I thought, not once did we find ourselves in the relegation places, and that's an incredible achievement.
The greatest challenge comes now, in making the step up to compete with the likes of Swansea etc, who have shown today the gap that needs to be closed.

Draw would have been fair. Enough opportunities for us second half. Awful from Kaminski for the third. He has to be replaced. Along with a lot of them.
Should we read anything into Lloyd Jones heading down the tunnel while the rest stayed on the pitch?0 -
A statement of the bleedin' obvious I suppose but I don't fancy another season of that. Glad we stayed up but there's an enormous amount of transfer business and improvement needed over the summer otherwise we're getting thumped straight back to League One.2
-
At least the fans got to see Berry one last time which im sure is what they'd have wanted.
Would have taken 21st so very happy with 19th and 6 points clear. A LOT of work to be done in the summer to move us forward.9 -
It’s on them if so. We were told to sit where we liked and people in our seats anyway.AS1987 said:I don't even remember the last time I walked away from a Charlton game caring so little that we lost.

At the game.
Substitutions (apart from Leaburn) weakened us.
Thought we were comfortable first half but individual mistakes cost us again.Clarke, Gillespie, Fevriere, Knibbs, Dykes, Berry and JRC are not good enough for the championship on today’s showing.
Carey was poor today as he had been last few games.Thought Chambers had his best game for us.
Need a clear out in the summer with 6 to 8 new players6 -
I can see Berry staying on at the club as a coachAllHailTheHen said:At least the fans got to see Berry one last time which im sure is what they'd have wanted.

Today was a chance to test out some players and give them experience for next season, not play the likes of Dykes who won't be here.3

Let's be honest last week's game was the one that really mattered and we won it with two fantastic goals.
Today's game wasn't that good but so what.
I shall now be a Hull City fan for the next week or so and then sit back and enjoy the summers transfer thread.
Enjoy the summer boys and girls and look forward to another season of championship football.14 -
At this rate we will have more coach’s than players.MrBurns said:

Lloyd Jones walking away from the applause very early again. Quick clap and beeline for changing rooms. Wonder if something is up with him or if he was just fed up with the performance again.4
-
Well I certainly hope not!.. with the exception of a couple of games he has been outstanding all season. The Red Robin said:Draw would have been fair. Enough opportunities for us second half. Awful from Kaminski for the third. He has to be replaced. Along with a lot of them.

I somehow get the impression that there will be several offers for him in the summer, I am glad that Leaburn had a decent game today, let's hope we can get him scoring again. Really not sure about Kaminski, as well.
It is pretty obvious we need a large injection of investment in the playing. Hopefully Edwards will be back and fit, Not for me Clarke, Gillespie, Fevriere, Knibbs, Dykes, Berry, although I thought Dykes did a reasonable job in some of the games. Unless you invest you go backwards, especially in this league.
I only see games on TV, but I have seen them all, okay it offers a different perspective, hopefully my mobility will improve and can attend a few games.
Wish everyone a happy summer, and a busy transfer window.2 -
Say goodbye to all the loans 👍raytreacy said:Same old shit. I hope that some of these players is the last time I see the likes of Dykes, Clarke etc
Say hallo once again to Kanu and Nathans wonder winger Kaheim Dixon.😂
Thank goodness this season is over.1 -

Looked tired , contained the Swan 9 really well. But when he went off and the City front line started going wide and we looked like we had thrown the towel in.I am off on holiday, and taking a break from CL.Normal old bollox from me will resume in August.
Have a great summer everyone!0 -
A slightly odd starting 11, but it was still 0-0 when we made the 3 changes. After the subs we looked better going forward, but lost our defensive solidity, especially down the right. Clarke isn't a good enough defender, certainly at the moment, to be RB with nobody in front of him.
Carey, Leaburn and Kelman were all effective when they came on, whereas Knibbs looked lost on the right.
NJ disappeared down the tunnel very quickly after the game, a token clap of the away fans then he was off, which was odd.0 -
With 48 points for safety, turns out we’ve been safe since 14 March when we got to 48 with the draw at Oxford. Well done to those Lifers over recent weeks who were confidently predicting we would avoid relegation!7
