We won't be signing strikers from L1 if all goes to plan. NJ's comments about Godden yesterday make that pretty clear
I've missed that. What did he say about Godden?

(Hopefully I'm giving him a new contract)

He said we’d missed his Championship experience and said how hard it was for our strikers to adapt to the Championship with no (or very little) Championship experience. The implication there was that we don’t want to be spending money on players who need to adapt that much again. It also seems to me that we’re likely to trigger Godden’s extra year but we won’t know for a few days at least

Jones: “If we’d had a fitter Matty Godden then we’d have had 60-plus points. He would’ve scored goals with his know-how.

We really wanted Godden to be a top player for us but he has had a really frustrating year. If we’d had him the whole season then I’ve no doubt he would have scored 10 goals. If Matty Godden scores 10 goals it means we could have had six or seven more points. You don’t know, but that is the reality of it.

“We’ll have conversations and see where we are.”

Might be worth seeing if there are any Plymouth players we might fancy, pebble and Tolaj the two I can think of and use Alex as a makeweight
Can see us being keen on both of them but Tolaj is likely to attract bigger clubs (or at least ones that can pay more)

Fairly sure Jones signed Pepple for Luton.
Pepple also has a release clause if its very low then that would potentially be something Jones would make an exception on with no real risk

We’ve already got a lot of young strikers with potential contracted. I think any striker signing is going to be more experienced

All the very best to him, he did a super super job for us and he's going somewhere he's known and loved, what's not to like, good for Plymouth in getting him back and thanks for everything AM.

Another one out of the blue.

Liked him but a better fit for Argyle in lg 1 than for us in the championship.

    Good luck and thanks.

Cawley reporting that the rejected Wycombe bid was £200k

Good luck to him, I liked him a lot.  Always gave 100%, despite not being the most technically gifted.  A very good L1 defender and still young enough to improve.  If the fee was £200K it seems a bit low to me, he cost more than that when we bought him iirc and has just come off a season being player of the season.

Given we rejected £200k from one club I’d be surprised if we accepted it from another

There was speculation yesterday that the transfer fee was £600k but that seems waaaay too high to me. Likely somewhere in between, hopefully closer to the higher end of the range.

You need to read between the lines of Cawley’s writing, rather than seeing a number and jumping to a conclusion!

Good to see a loan move which was so successful, it led to a permanent transfer.

You could see how well he fitted in there, both on and off the pitch.

A poster on the PASOTI forum is saying the fee is "100% 600k with add ons".

Cawley says Mitchell rejected the move to Wycombe, not us.

I've no qualifications or experience as to player valuation except watching cafc like every poster on here.
Can never resist giving a player a valuation though.
Reckon AM... Big old fashioned CB, great attitude/ Leader on & off pitch, but not very mobile.
    Not championship standard.
    Reckon between £225k & £325k

Top end league 1 is his limit I think, doesn't have the pace or technical ability to play much higher.

Jones is an anomaly that doesn't have much of either, but is so physically dominant that he more than makes up for it, and I don't put Mitchell in that same category

    Good luck to him

Best of luck to him, always gave his best, made one or two bad errors and got some stick for it,but never let hit get him down, and he never hid.
