When does the club usually announce the released/retained list?
Last year if I remember correct it was around a week after Wembley. This year I would imagine the back end of this week/early next week as NJ is chatting to all the players today and tomorrow about their future.

Just seen Peterborough’s retained list also includes a list of players under contract up for sale curious to see if we do similar

Posh released and retained list. They always put up who’s transfer listed too.

Peterborough always do it and anyway entering their final year is automatically on the transfer list. Can’t see us doing similar with ours

Varies.  I wouldn't expect anything in a hurry as there will offers to be made and accepted/rejected.

Some younger players will announce departures on social media before the club.

Who have we got out of contract?

    Berry, Dykes, Godden?

Would assume we'll activate the year om TC.

And while loan players will go back, that doesn't prevent them returning.

Leicester paid around £1m for Vardy from the same league and that was in 2012.
And where did it get them? : League One

Made a £1M loss on the transfer in the process too when they decided it wasn't worth renewing his contract.

Good goalkeeper, wouldn’t be cheap. Cleaned up end of season awards at Bristol City

Has been excellent for them, not sure Utd would want to sell. Could see a newly promoted side like Ipswich after him.

Will either be no2 at United or end up at a Prem Club. Ipswich isn't a bad shout actually.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we see sales of a few of the younger lads that have been out on loan (DK, Anderson, Asiimwe etc) with decent sell on/buy back fees.

I think we'll see Lloyd Jones depart, he's been superb so there won't be a lack of interest, and he's at the age now where a two or three year contract on bigger money will change his career earnings dramatically. Although I wouldn't sell for less than £4m.
I don’t think so. Not sure there is actually that much of a market for him, he wouldn’t be as good for a lot of teams in this league that play very differently to us. In the middle of a back 3 and our style is perfect for him.

If there was interest I wouldn’t sell unless it was silly money. Rather lose him for free next year than sell him this summer, he’s too important for us. I think he stays though and signs a new contract
There is a good size market for Lloyd and a few like Ramsay too. It is up to the club to show we are ambitious and aren't going to be in another relegation battle, otherwise said players could very well want to leave.

They aren't asking to leave but they are both ambitious and know they can play for a team that won't be in a relegation fight next season. A big few weeks ahead with their agents.

Coventry are prepared to break their transfer record to sign Sorba Thomas from Stoke City … sort of winger we need.
Sorba Thomas who we could have signed from Boreham Wood if we'd managed to agree a fee.

We've got to go and find the next Sorba Thomas from Non League because we sure as hell haven't got the budget for ready-made championship wingers with his kind of production.
They wanted 500,000 for him no way was we going to pay that for a non league player

Spent £500k in the Sandgaard era on enough other players that did absolutely nothing.
Effectively signed Kirk instead for a similar fee to what Huddersfield (in the Championship) paid for Thomas in the same year.

Very poor recruitment given the direction the two players careers have gone in since.

There won’t be many non-league players going for those sort of fees, but a lot of NL clubs are pro now and occasionally a player will be worth it. That’s where good judgement of their ability, physical attributes and character comes into it.

    CHARLTON ATHLETIC MAKE A BID

    16 October 2020

After a leaked article was anonymously put into the public domain yesterday and after much speculation that Charlton Athletic had made an offer for Wood fans favourite Sorba Thomas, the Club can now publicly state, that Charlton have in fact made a bid, but their kind offer falls a bit short of the Club’s valuation of the player, which they were made aware of before making their offer in writing.

We have out of respect to both Charlton Athletic, Steve Gallen and of course the player, reiterated our asking price to Charlton by detailing what would trigger our acceptance and we have also stated that we are very happy to take payments in stages to assist the player in securing his move into the EFL.

The deal believed to be worth up to 650,000 with add ons and sell on etc

He actually struggled at Huddersfield and was loaned to Blackburn Rovers around the time we signed Kirk a year later…

Anderson and Asiimwe I tend to agree, but Kanu only if he doesn't sign a new contract - think we'll look to extend and get him a L1 loan.

Exactly. Poor recruitment as I said. Wouldn't pay the fee they wanted for Thomas. He signed for Huddersfield in January 2021, we signed Kirk in August 2021. Had we offered enough we might have signed Thomas in October 2020 and not needed Kirk.

Thomas would have been playing in L1 rather than the Championship with Huddersfield. Given Kirk's performances I doubt Thomas would have done much worse, and probably a lot better.

They are now both playing championship football with us no need to leave .. Ramsey form dropped off big time after the Millwall sending off so why be  on a bench for another club when he can be a starter for us ..we have no offers for either in fact the only player that has had a bid was Coventry in Jan from Middbro

We were never really in a relegation fight this season we were always arm length away and we never were in the bottom 3 all season

I think Ramsay has had a move fixed up for some time. Another Thierry Small I suspect.

Tbf to him, he’d have been pretty stupid to sign one before last weekend when we were confirmed safe. Now we are we might see some movement with Jones, Ramsay and TC contracts over the next month

Would assume we'll activate the year om TC.
Don’t we have an option on Godden? Someone told me Berry too.

Yeah I think both have club options.
