Yeah....another dud recruiter 🤭.1 -
He has good experience of recruiting talented players from overseas.. I would say, this is why he is here to advise on certain aspects of getting transfers over the line, and unearthing gems!2
-
I asked AI what he brought to the Arsenal.
He brought several specific assets and strategic contributions to the club:
1. Transfer and Contract Negotiation
De Facto Sporting Director: While Arsenal avoided the official title of "Director of Football" to maintain Arsène Wenger's supreme influence, Law effectively filled that role by handling the logistics of recruitment.
High-Profile Signings: He was a central figure in completing major deals, including the signing of Mesut Özil from Real Madrid in 2013 and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in 2018.
Buffer for Management: He served as a "buffer" between the management team and agents, managing the influx of players being offered to the club to allow Wenger to focus on coaching.
2. South American Expertise
Language Skills & Network: Trilingual in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, Law had deep ties to South and Central America from his time living in Brazil.
Scouting Project: He spearheaded a project to identify and recruit talent directly from South America, having previously assisted in the landmark signing of Gilberto Silva.
Strategic Partnerships: He was instrumental in establishing Arsenal’s partnership with the Spanish side Salamanca, which acted as a development hub for young Arsenal players on loan.
3. Financial Stewardship and Planning
"Prudent" Spending: During the financially constrained years following the move to the Emirates Stadium, Law operated under a "risk-reward" model,
treating the club’s money with high responsibility to avoid expensive mistakes that could jeopardize their financial stability.
Squad Construction: He coordinated with the Chief Executive (Ivan Gazidis) and the manager on long-term squad planning, ensuring all contracts complied with FA and FIFA regulations.

That’s put a stop to it…😉up_the_valley said:.0 -
Bit of a concern that he appears to have been at Arsenal over a period of relative mediocrity but as said, the post emirates belt tightening would have been a factor - all in all, his knowledge and contacts should be useful so should be a good thing1

Just see Linda law has liked a charlton post regarding the news on insta.14

South American expertise
Will there me more Samba Rhythm starting to play?
or are we finally getting the Christian Bolanos deal over the line?
Exciting times ahead9 -
Apparently he has already in discussions with agents for three exciting players from South America called Thuraminho, Innissta, and Matteo Smithez,Raith_C_Chattonell said:I asked AI what he brought to the Arsenal.

Very experienced at getting deals over the line it seems but he doesn't seem to be a talent spotter as such although he obviously is/was very well connected. Look forward to see what if anything he'll bring to a lower level Championship club though it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we end up filing this in the cabinet with the tie in with Inter Milan, Dane Murphy etc. A bit out of the blue, wonder if he knows our owners ?1

He knows Gavin Carter as GC said he's already been drawing on his expertise.charltonbob said:Very experienced at getting deals over the line it seems but he doesn't seem to be a talent spotter as such although he obviously is/was very well connected. Ah OK hadn't seen that, is it more of an advisory role then ?Henry Irving said:

I am sorry I can’t get past his name being Dick Law. Sounds like a very niche law practice5

Deals in paternity cases?2

He’s already a director at STATSports, so he has the data/performance analytical side covered. Bit late joining to get his firm into Charlton as we already have a contract with a different company but they have a wide coverage across the globe. Not known (STATSport, that is) for recruitment side though that Jamestown have excelled at.bobmunro said:MarcusH26 said:That's a really really impressive CV to be able to call upon in terms of experience. He could give advice without being a director so it could be that the club have given him an official title for a reason.
That could be so he carries more weight when negotiating for the next Messi and can officially act on behalf of the club but that is guess work.
Either way the money men would have had to have agreed the appointment.2 -
Well they’ve already saved a decent amount of money having Carter fill in as a CEO for the last year opposed to appointing someone newHenry Irving said:

Carter is not running the football club as a CEO. He’s not there seven days a week like a Varney. He was appointed as a Non Executive ChairmanCrispywood said:

You could argue that not having the commercially focused CEO that was mentioned by GC has cost us money as we've potentially missed out on new or better deals2 -
