What an absolute legend this man has been and still is… a real "National Treasure", today he celebrates his "ton" of 100 years, born 8th May 1926. Beginning with Life on Earth in 1979, Attenborough set about creating a body of work which became a benchmark of quality in wildlife film-making and influenced a generation of documentary film-makers.

Tonight on BBC 1 at 8:30 we have "David Attenboroug'100 years on Planet Earth", a 90 minute special from The Albert Hall, celebrating his groundbreaking career, and worth a watch…
