Yeah, ignore the part where he's captained a poor Stevenage side to the play offs, is one of the highest rated players in the league again, one of the best defenders again, all overshadowed by a balls up at the back.lordromford said:Who was it who always wanted us to sign Piergianni? 😂
Better than every pretty much every centre back we have had play for us in League 1 in recent history that isn't called Lloyd Jones.
Hopefully Stevenage can turn it around as I am hoping we are in for Ethan Pye and will have more chance if he's still in League 1. Such a tidy player.
Plus I would rather Stevenage go up as that's one team down before a ball is kicked.5 -
I don’t see that happening. However, I think Southampton will beat Millwall.Callumcafc said:Don’t care as long as Hull are in the final : -)0 -
Much as it pains me, that got a “like” for being a well reasoned argument. Are you sure you’re not too intelligent to be a Millwall supporter?MillwallFan said:
So in the last 5 years, 4 teams have gone down in their second season. The dreaded second season is a real thing then. I think promotion momentum can really play a part in staying up and doing well in the first season back up but without that in the second season it can be a struggle. Not to give you lot any nerves for next season already of course 😁DyerConsequences said:MillwallFan said:
Interesting. I wonder how many went down in their second seasonDyerConsequences said:Not saying it's not a big step up, however worth remembering only 1 of the last 15 promoted sides from League One has gone straight back down.
Apologies, actually 2 of 15. Should always double check facts I read 🤣
4 have gone down in their second season.
2022 - N/A
2023 - Blackpool
2024 - Rotherham
2025 - Plymouth
2026 - Oxford
I’ve mentioned on here before, our first season back up we finished 8th. Our second season we finished 21st. Avoid the dreaded drop in your second season and I think you’ll go on to be an established championship club again and maybe even challenging top 6 in a couple of years. It’s all about next season though. Massive massive summer ahead for you boys this year. Can’t be understated.2 -

Could be a few twists and turns in the Championship second legs. Soton have been on a great run, but they’ve racked up a lot of games in the second half of this season and it’s hard to sustain such a run. We did it last year from mid December onwards, but i felt that by the time the two Wycombe games and the Orient final came around, we were relying on resolution and solid organisation to see us over the line.Boro went on a dodgy run a couple of months ago, but may have shaken it out of their system in time to pull off a result on Tuesday
Not so sure about the Millwall game on Monday however. I can’t see anything other than a Millwall win. I think they’re a better team for starters and I think Hull may buckle under the atmosphere. I wouldn’t be suprised to see a Millwall Boro final. Wouldn’t have a clue to call out of those two if that’s the case however0 -

Neutrals? Lol.MillwallFan said:
Yeah I thought both teams looked nervy, especially us in the first half. Not a great game. Lacking in quality. We contained them though and bar the first couple of minutes they never really looked like scoring. Second half we were stronger but I agree, over all not a good advert for the championship. Would’ve taken a draw though not a bad result.superclive98 said:What a dreadful advert for Championship football that was.As neutrals, would you lot on here say Leonards goal should’ve been disallowed or just a 50/50 tussle?

Didn't/rarely played centre back for us, not recent but yes, no but not recent, not recent, no, not a centre back, not recent but still no, no and not recent. That's also not the surface, as you've pulled defenders from well over a decade ago. The stats don't lie, he is one of the best centre backs in this league and proves it every single season.MartinCAFC said:

2018/19 is not recent. I am talking the last 3-4 years, where he has emerged.
Of course Bauer & Michael Morrison are better.4 -

You didn't specify how far back was recent so I took all of League One to mean recent history which it still is. I'm sure older posters will remember the days when it was called division 3 and would be able to add suitable contenders. If you really want to keep it to recent history i'll make it even more simple. Piergianni while i'm sure has been decent yes for a season or two, would not have replaced any of Gillesphey, Jones or Ramsay at centre back in League One.Braziliance said:

Both of these teams are really poor. Bradford can’t string more than two passes together and Bolton’s defense looks horrible against any kind of counterattack.
lapslie is doing Leslie things - namely running around like a headless chicken and falling over at every opportunity0 -

The thing about the playoffs is that it becomes very overrated and normally under delivers. Every team is too scared to go for it because they don’t want to lose0
