Slavia Prague fans completely shaft their own team's title win
https://x.com/majkeI1999/status/2053193200022483219
Context: Here there is a (useless) league play-off system similar to the Belgian one. Yesterday if Slavia had won this derby against 2nd place Sparta they would have been home and hosed. 10 mins of extra time, unusual out here, and they are hanging on to their lead. The fans at their noisy end (I'm not going to use the word "ultras") were on the perimeter anticipating the title celebration invasion. OK. But for some unaccountable reason, they start to invade with a full 4 mins left. With their pathetic flares. And some of them attack Sparta players, their keeper took something in the face, maybe a flare, maybe a punch, not yet clear. And they don't leave. After about 5 minutes, they are finally forced off and some of the smoke clears; the Slavia players return, but Sparta refuse to (the Slavia CEO has said he fully understood that and that if it had been reversed Slavia would have done the same). So the game is abandoned. At the very least, the Czech FA will need to give that as a 3-0 walkover to Sparta, thus opening up the playoff table. But given the assaults on players, they surely have to go much harder, probably all other games behind closed doors (because will any other club be prepared to play there now?)
I thought, after some 60 years, I'd seen everything around footie fan misbehaviour. But this is easily the most stupid thing I've ever seen. The only possible mitigating factor I've seen, and it plays to one of my personal grouses, is that the stadium clock isn't allowed to show the extra time being played. Sure that's stupid too, but we are not talking 30 seconds here. And the funniest thing is Slavia are supposed to be the adults, Sparta traditionally the home of knobheads.
It's going to be an interesting week in Czech footie, as there are more playoff games due this midweek.

I noticed that Slavia had two players red carded too.0

Saw something online that the ref apparently blew his whistle twice for something and the fans basically thought it was the final whistle and ran on. Is there any truth in that, because as idiotic as they are i'm assuming they only ran on because they thought the game was over?
Definitely going to be given as a 3-0 away win and they'll get a huge fine. Ground closure is possible i guess but are the Czech FA really going to close their ground on the day they'll likely be given the trophy?0 -
The second one though had already been subbed off. Must have said something. The crazy thing is, this wasn't any kind of deciding match. Even if Slavia had lost this to Sparta (and they have now) they had four more games against mainly weaker teams to comfortably win the title.Algarveaddick said:I noticed that Slavia had two players red carded too.3 -

Match clock definitely needed. Stubbornness because they "do it in America" can be the only reason for not doing it.
Recently watching a game there was five of extra time shown but we were approaching the 115 minute! WTF1 -
That was probably the trigger, then one bloke, probably a masked-up twat, thinks taht's it, and they all follow him. However the focus is now on this image. They were all over the fence and standing on the perimeter for minutes before it happened. That wouldn't happen here, (as at least one Czech pointed out) ,stewards here are out and in place 10 mins before the final whistle. Some Slavia fans are trying to say it's the ref's fault for not seeing that as a potential danger, but that's unfair, he's focused on the action. The 4th official maybe; but ultimately it's the failure of stewarding and that is firmly on the club. They need to get it in the neck for this.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Saw something online that the ref apparently blew his whistle twice for something and the fans basically thought it was the final whistle and ran on. In comparable reputational local derby terms would his be roughly equivalent to the covered end coming on too early against millwall or Wimbledon or some other side?
(I think our stadium clock stops at 90 so losing 4 minutes, could happen stewards or not)0 -
Oh definitely Millwall, or Palace. This derby is tasty, and the two teams usually expect to be in top 3.swords_alive said:In comparable reputational local derby terms would his be roughly equivalent to the covered end coming on too early against millwall or Wimbledon or some other side? There is one big difference though, which amazes me. In the rest of the stadium, especially their equiv. of the East, Sparta fans are sitting among Slavia fans. Often they are mates, but even if not, it is accepted. I found it pretty surreal, but way back when I was a kid this was apparently quite normal. Yesterday in the extended footage when they are on the pitch and nobody can get them off the "East" chants "Hovado" which I'd probably translate as "bell-ends" and while it's often aimed at heavy-handed policing, this time it pretty clearly is aimed at their own fellow Slavia fans.4 -
Hopefully our friendly waiter from Úvoz wasn’t on the pitch @PragueAddick 😉
Idiotic from the fans though and ridiculous stewarding (lack of) which could ultimately cost them a title.1 -
Wasn’t he Sparta though, Tel? Maybe not- as can be seen in the Sint-T thread, my memory isnt what it was…TelMc32 said:Hopefully our friendly waiter from Úvoz wasn’t on the pitch @PragueAddick 😉

The clock used to stop at 90 and just show how many minutes were being added but this year it's shown how much time on has actually been played.swords_alive said:In comparable reputational local derby terms would his be roughly equivalent to the covered end coming on too early against millwall or Wimbledon or some other side?

I don't know if it was a league rule that stopped us doing it before or if it was club policy. No doubt someone in the know can enlighten us.3 -
Well thats a step forward. Not apparently available at Eden yesterday. I’d aslo like to know it it is League-wide.Briston_Addick said:

I think you’re right actually. Although he mentioned so many other clubs in the end, it was enough to confuse anyone…including himself 😉😂PragueAddick said:

So I'm actually quite impressed by Slavia's response. Jaroslav Tvrdik, their CEO (who I used to think of as a massive bell-end even before he got involved in football, and I wasn't alone) today announced that they are closing the north stand (yep, it's really the north) until all the main perpetrators have been identified and banned. Whole of next season if necessary, he said. What's more they have fired the two players who were red carded. I presume they were OOC anyway, but one of them, Tomas Chory is that rare thing here, an old fashioned English style centre-forward. He very publicly criticised their behaviour yesterday and said that in Chory's case he was already on probation after he spat on a prone Viktoria defender in a recent game.. All this before the Czech FA even announce their initial findings. Hats off to him. Too often nowadays we hear that phrase "This is not who we are" followed by absolutely nothing to show for it. He's done something, and he's taken a risk there too. Imagine if we closed the entire Covered End after something like this...5

The owner fired two players just because they got a red card?PragueAddick said:So I'm actually quite impressed by Slavia's response. If that had happened at a Millwall v Charlton game, and the puppy stranglers had ran on the pitch, The FA, EFL and local police would award THEM a 3-0 win... Oh hold on, they would probably of been 3-0 up anywat!1

They were much maligned and rightly so , but what you can’t ignore is that under their leadership it was a golden period for bitches and nice breads.oohaahmortimer said:

He is not the owner, which is also interesting because they have a new owner, so the CEO has stuck his neck out doing this. But re the players, Chory is a wrong’un, who was on a final warning, while Doudela apparently got his red card in the dugout after he had been subbed, for abusing the ref. Turns out that he has put them on the transfer list, which the media loosely report as “fired”, but its still a big call. Both players are in the Czech WC squad.Chris_from_Sidcup said:
