Newsham has ruptured her ACL, gutting
https://www.charltonafc.com/news/charlotte-newsham-injury-update0 -
In case there was any doubt that Leicester are serious about staying up, they've announced that they're giving free playoff tickets to their women's ST holders and subsidising coach travel.
Meanwhile, we've said we've already sole more than 1000 tickets for the home area. If there's anyone who doesn't like the sound of the new experiment with allowing drinks to be taken into the stand, block A is the one that will be alcohol free.0 -
Absolutely terrible. Not just for us given she's far and away one of our best players but also awful for her that if we do manage to beat Leicester she won't get a proper crack at the WSL season she will have been a huge part of earning. She's done her ACL, LCL, posterolateral corner and hamstring tendon but when she saw the stretcher ready to come she jumped up like she'd got a new leg rather than get carried off the pitch. Well yeah I hope so considering how their whole club is going. Their fans pots is Alisha Lehmann (played 5 subbed on 4) , so don't know if that is cause for concern or nothing to worry about. I just worry what Charlton team will turn up on the day.Swindon_Addick said:In case there was any doubt that Leicester are serious about staying up,0 -
Alisha Lehmann is more Instagram celebrity than footballer these days. She also won goal of the season despite only scoring one goal and that goal being fairly rubbish so her two awards are more indicative of the ridiculous nature of parasocial online relationships bleeding into online voting combined with the fact there won't have been all that many votes from actual Leicester fans anyway. She has 16 million Instagram followers and Leicester get an average crowd of 2,700. I wouldn't read anything into it other than that the internet was a mistake.JustFloydRoad said:

Leicester City WFC are pleased to announce that Annabelle Fatawu and Hanna Choudhury have passed scrutiny and are looking forward to facing Charlton in the Promotion Playoff.
All above board, nothing to see here.

Gillian Kenney shortlisted for WSL2 Rising Star Award - winner announced on Monday

I really hope she's better than shortlisted for the starting line up on the 23rd. We need goals.EpsomAddick said:Gillian Kenney shortlisted for WSL2 Rising Star Award - winner announced on Monday

Leicester concede a 96th minute goal to lose their final game of the season 1-0 away to Everton. Hopefully that dents their confidence even more4

I really don't rate Thestrup and think Kenney is excellent but in Hills' defence on the occasions we have started Kenney she hasn't had the stamina for the press and has tired massively, which means we then haven't had her goal threat in the final 20 minutes. We've then had to bring Thestrup and her negative goal chance on to see out the game and it's made us look even more toothless. Thestrup has been an unsuccessful signing on the pitch and the best time to correct that was January but based on what we have starting her is currently what suits our way of playing bestCrusty54 said:

Interestingly, Kenney has been playing a much deeper role when she's played recently, a 10/false 9 type role. I'm a bit concerned about this weekend's game. Leicester's weakness is their defence and ours is our attack. It's not a great matchup1

I would like to have seen Kenney and Thestrup playing together. A lone striker hasn't worked. Thestrup did get FA Cup hat trick when she wasn't alone up front.Garrymanilow said:

Well, I mean it objectively has worked. It's seen us finish 3rd in the league with next to no budget, one result away from being champions and in a Play-off match. Given the teams around us and the money they have spent that's an incredible achievement. I'm sure there's a multiverse where we would have played fast, free-flowing football with the likes of Muya, Ross, Thestrup and Flannery but it isn't this oneCrusty54 said:

Muya is the classic example. Top scorer for London City Lionesses. Signed for a fee but now expected to play wide.Garrymanilow said:

Terrible decision to change a winning team to bring back players from long term injuries. Dropped players in good form. Lost three games and the top spot.1 -
Think that's harsh. Assuming you mean bringing back Skeels and Mason, that's the club captain and the left-back who was brought in to be our first choice in that position and who has been really good since she came back. Neither of them are the reason we've started losing games. And particularly with Mason, bringing her back meant we could put Newsham back to right-back - so that's one fewer player being played out of position, as you mentioned above.Crusty54 said:Muya is the classic example. And with Muya, we've had enough problems with a lack of physical presence from our forwards this season as it is without playing someone there who's even more lightweight.3 -

Charlton have played too many players out of their best position this season.
Terrible decision to change a winning team to bring back players from long term injuries. Dropped players in good form. Lost three games and the top spot.Muya is an example of Hills making do with what she's got. Muya has her strengths, which are that she's sometimes unpredictable on the ball and is a decent finisher at times, but she's incredible weak, slow to press and when she does she often gives away fouls. The way we play requires more of a physical presence than she can offer up front which means playing her out wide, which is really her natural position, makes more sense. Also I know you like to talk about her being top scorer for Not Millwall but she scored 6 goals in her best season for them and managed 12 goals across 48 games, she was never this prolific star striker you make her out to be. She has 4 goals for us this season, it's hardly cutting the legs out from under her.I do actually agree with you on changing the defence, I wouldn't have taken Lobato out given how settled the defence was but it was hardly the maddest choice to bring the captain back in. It also ignored that while we did have a bad run at the end we were there in the first place because of the way Hills had set the team up to get the most out of a limited squad.5 -

Team trained at The Valley today which is interesting as you wouldn’t think they need to get acclimatised! Either worried about Leicester spies or SL is being used for someone else, maybe Unity Cup related2
