Why do they need a hearing, everyone knows Southampton are guilty, just get the scaffold set up at Tyburn...🙄1

Hull should spy on both of them to be safe.ForeverAddickted said:Hull are going to be the potential biggest losers... The fact that Boro might play the final having lost the semi final doesn't sit right with me but I can't really think of a similar situation happening before. Has this ever happened in football before?
I believe in tennis if a player was disqualified, the player they have just beat wouldn't take their place in the next round. But I think this has only happened for misconduct reasons and not for cheating reasons in the past so it's not quite the same.
It's such a mess, the EFL love a hearing don't they. Feel for Hull and their fans, especially after treating us so kindly recently.3 -
Sunderland lost the play off final to the top division to Swindon but still went up in their place.Leeds_Addick said:The fact that Boro might play the final having lost the semi final doesn't sit right with me but I can't really think of a similar situation happening before. Not sure the EFL have done much wrong here. The offence only took place last week, then Southampton were charged, teams usually get 14 days to respond to a charge but that has obviously had to be fast tracked and now we're told the hearing will take place on or before next Tuesday.ShootersHillGuru said:Typical EFL though. Why the delay in holding the hearing. Thrown everything into the usual confusion on anything EFL. Hull are becoming the victims here.
So from original offence to hearing that will be less than 2 weeks, that is absolutely lightning pace considering the usual timescale of EFL charges. What more do you think the EFL could have done?

For all their faults it wasn't the EFL that did the spying.3

Apter not in the Bolton squad. He's going to need a real arm around the shoulder in pre-season, and another L1 loan next season. Hopefully he gets one where he plays as a wingback so he hopefully learns how to adapt to our system. Either that or flog him somewhere he'll play every week regardless of the outcome and just hope he recoups a bit of value.0

It's also highly likely that whatever verdict we get is then appealed by someone.
If Southampton get kicked out they're going to appeal and say "well Leeds only got a fine" and if they don't get kicked out Middlesbrough will probably appeal.
Meanwhile the Hull fans can't book travel or hotels because they don't know when the game will be.3 -

They could always send in a spy…to both…😉0 -

I was listening to the Second Tier podcast yesterday and they brought up the fact that Soton could have done this more than once and doing it during the season.
That, for me, potentially crosses the red line and creates a massive decision for the EFL. I think if they can only prove Southampton did it the once, then they can give them a points deduction and a fine. But more than once, I think that's where you get into the territory of "is their place in the playoffs legitimate?" and then they have to think about kicking Southampton out of the playoffs.
And then all hell will break loose.3 -
Quite some goal. Well done, Alfie, for making it all possible.Callumcafc said:0 -
By all accounts the EFL changed the rules after the Leeds thing, so think just a fine will be off the table.Chris_from_Sidcup said:It's also highly likely that whatever verdict we get is then appealed by someone.

So is the independent hearing is just to say guilty or not guilty and then the punishment (or not) will be up to the EFL?
I can’t see how they can be anything other than guilty.0 -
Yet again all this could be avoided if the EFL had clear punishments set out for all rule breaks, then no one can appeal and they can apply punishments immediately.3
-
With all the evidence put out on social media and the fact the manager hasn’t come out and flatly denied it speaks volumes, they are guilty as fuck. It’s going to be about the punishment, and saints hoping they’ve not been caught at it somewhere else over the season, that will be a big can of worms opened up, I reckon we were spied on, We would have only been smashed by 3 otherwise!!😂😜Arsenetatters said:So is the independent hearing is just to say guilty or not guilty and then the punishment (or not) will be up to the EFL?

I don't think any rule breaks are so 100% conclusive that lawyers acting for the clubs won't be able to drag things out.Covered_End_Lad said:Yet again all this could be avoided if the EFL had clear punishments set out for all rule breaks, then no one can appeal and they can apply punishments immediately.2 -

Burstow starting for Bolton and Lapslie on the bench for Bradford. No Apter - back with us or not even in their squad?0

This tie desperately needs a Bradford goal. Bolton look far the slicker side though.0

Decent game this, Bolton look the better side
Bradford’s ground reminds me of The Valley, similar on 3 sides and both got rubbish away ends2 -
It’s a huge ground. Can see it for miles around Bradford peaking out above various buildings. They really should be in the second tier.Southendaddick said:Decent game this, Bolton look the better side

It would be so funny if the EFL throw out Southamption and award promotion to Hull. That would really piss off Millwall 🤣🤣6
-
Just awarding the promotion to Hull seems the most sensible thing to do if they are found guilty tbh. Pissing the other clubs and the fans about doesn't seem in the best interests of the sport.
Massive fine and at least 12 points deducted, if not more, for Southampton seems about right.
Perhaps the fine should be based on all costs from a cancelled Wembley, including the payout to the winners, plus 10%1 -
Think they knew the password, the way they were in the first half against us at The Valley.ArmchairAddick said:
