Xabi Alonso has agreed to become Chelsea manager apparently.

    Awful move for him IMHO.

Might mean Slot is staying too, thought he'd be a shoo-in at Liverpool otherwise.
Or at City if Pep is going. Imagine Iraola gets that gig now - or Maresca.

Maresca is the favourite, seems to have been on the cards for a few months.

    It’ll be Maresca I’d imagine.

If it isn't Maresca he's an idiot as he was sacked by Chelsea for talking to City

In fact The Athletic are reporting Maresca is the replacement

Apparently Pep was pictured walking around the centre circle a few days ago with all the trophies on display on plinths

Are we sure we don’t have to worry about them coming calling for our Nath?

Maybe City are tired of tippy tappy football and fancy a more pragmatic approach.

There's been way too much noise for it not to be Maresca and given that one of the reasons he left Chelsea was because he'd been talking to City, it makes you think this has been a done deal for some time.

Maresca was an important part of City's treble winning season, so he knows the club and how it works, plus he's a Pep disciple, so he's an obvious choice.

It also means that 4 of the 'big 6' clubs next season will have managers who've all been inspired by Pep.

Arteta and Maresca worked under him, Alonso has said he was inspired by him during his time at Bayern and De Zerbi has said Pep is the reason he became a manager.

Is it just a coincidence that Pep is leaving City just as Tranmere Rovers are looking for a new manager?

its an obvious case that he wants to prove he can do it on a cold wet Tuesday night in Tranmere

Surely Stoke would be a better fit. I'll have a word with John.

115 charges getting sorted in June.
Pep won’t do points deduction footy or Championship footy, so he’s off before it gets announced.

So still maintaining a connection to the City group. At 55 he surely isn't permanently retired?

It's interesting though, where else can he manage? He won't do another PL team or another German team and certainly not a Spanish one. None of the Italian teams will be able to afford him and politcally PSG would be tricky. I assume it can only be international management

Makes me feel that a big fine and a few token points will be taken away from City in the 26/27 season for their 115 rule breaks !
Pep would've been Spitting feathers if that was announced on his watch; why did he need to permanently spit ?

The statement doesn't say how long he's going to be a global ambassador for and as he was previously at pains to say that he had one year still left on his contract then that, perhaps, is the compromise to him leaving right now. He gets a break from the day to day trials and tribulations from being a manager and it affords him time to re-evaluate what his next step will be.

Following the conclusion of an internal investigation conducted in accordance with the clubs policies and procedures, we can confirm that the men’s first-team manager has been dismissed with immediate effect after a finding of gross misconduct.
