    From the looks of it Holsgrove can probably play either of those roles. He looks like a player that can pick the ball up off the defence and start moves, which would replace Coventry. But he also looks like he’s comfortable higher up the pitch receiving the ball in more advanced areas. 

    He’d be a huge upgrade on either in terms of in possession for those roles, but maybe a downgrade out of possession. If we do sign him, I’m sure he will be paired with someone who is less technical and more about covering ground and winning the ball back so that we are still defensively strong

    Was gonna say I am surprised he has never been capped by Scotland, but then again it is comparatively the strongest part of their team really.

    3 whole centimeters taller than Coventry and therefore clearly better.

    Well ideally you have two players in a Holsgrove style mould. Part of what held us back last season was not having much positional flexibility in the team. If one of your midfielders can’t get up the pitch but can pick a pass he’s easy to nullify, as is the player who runs a lot but can’t pick a pass. If we had a double pivot able to do both then the creative responsibility isn’t left to your wingbacks and no 10

    Like the look of holsgrove, can play first touch passes with both feet, great forward passing and not afraid of carrying the ball. Basically all the things we completely lacked in midfield last season.

    If true, Holsgrove would be a good signing, and for me I am pleased we are shopping in this market. I honestly don't get the harshness towards Cov. I think he is a good player, and if we are going to play with the ball more, it will benefit him and us. Just the style of football, doesn't overly suit him!

    Surprised to see he’s only just 28. 
    Bags of experience and maybe one to replace Coady in the DM role.

    I actually saw Holsgrove play in November 2024 against Porto. They lost 4-0 that day and the whole team was dreadful. Can’t say he stood out that day but his stats in general look impressive

    He also scored the winner against them in 2023 which was an upset.I do also wonder about the level of the league as a whole in comparison to the championship as someone also stated above but they do have some big teams in Porto, benfica and sporting lisbon etc which you would think would fair well in the prem.
