Untrue we have 18 mill last year we had 12 mill which is the whole amount we got for promotion and tv moneyCharlton43 said:Apparently we have a smaller budget than last year …2 -
People complaining about the thread being taken off topic is more of a tradition than the thread being taken off topic at this pointlolwray said:
Carrying this thread off subject is a yearly ritual especially this early on...its to be expected..Its a near certainty the next few pages will cover Eurovision,Katie Price and Andy Burnham s eyebrows ..tune in after the world cup for anything resembling a signingMajor said:Click on looking for summer window rumours and have to scroll though so many posts that have nothing to do with it.
Obviously some enjoy the pile on about the worst player but can't it have it's own thread?14 -
This thread should just become the shit post mega thread for the whole summer.
I'm actually surprised we've never truly had a thread dedicated to that on here, most forums have one, where if there's no real category for a post but you want to say it anyway, it goes in there0 -
..and you know this how?Charlton43 said:Apparently we have a smaller budget than last year …1 -
I just can't see how an £18m budget for fees is remotely possible even under the new rules. The wages you'd be paying would be way above current levels too.0
-
33m losses over 3 seasons, but last year didn't countnas we came up, only this season counts so far which means we can probably spend about 20m and not be foul of the rules, and then the rules change anyway to 85% revenue the season afterMarcusH26 said:I just can't see how an £18m budget for fees is remotely possible even under the new rules. Not his rap attempt? 😂eastterrace6168 said:

Dael Fry, who we have been linked with, looks solid for Boro. He would be great to slot in alongside Jones.2

Local lad captain of his side, that compete at the top end of the league. He is not coming to us this summer.DamoNorthStand said:Dael Fry, who we have been linked with, looks solid for Boro. He would be great to slot in alongside Jones.16 -
Absolutely fantastic player and defender. We have got no chance of signing him.DamoNorthStand said:Dael Fry, who we have been linked with, looks solid for Boro. He would be great to slot in alongside Jones.0 -
I wonder if any of the budget will need to go towards the newly promoted womens team, or whether the monies are ring fenced?0

I congratulate the woman’s team but I’ve never seen them play live and only on tv twice, both in the last 3 weeks. I doubt I’m in the minority here0

I would think the men's and women's teams are classed as separate identities.2

Barnes also talks warmly about Charlton in his own autobiography.. He compares us with Watford as a similar type of club.Talal said:
Sure whenever I've seen him mention Charlton he's always spoken kindly about us. Think in Curbs' book he mentioned Barnes enjoying his time here and being a good pro with the other players, something along those lines anyway.eastterrace6168 said:

He isn't as complementary about Newcastle and he seems to be grateful we gave him an opportunity to leave there8 -
I agree it’s unlikely but at least it is a rumour that has been on multiple sites.cfgs said:

Charlton 4-2 Bristol Rovers
Akpo Sodje scored our 4th and it also unfortunately turned out to be the last time we’d see Kelly Youga, who never really recovered from an injury in the first half.
The player in question of 2 yellow cards was Chris Lines, which to this day I still believe he got 2 yellows and stayed on.
I was the mighty age of 14, don’t ask how I remember all this so clearly, I just do 😅4 -

A weird parallel in terms of both Bristol Rovers bastards and bizarre bits of very clear pointless memory, a similar thing happened to another Charlton left back against Bristol Rovers around that time. When we played Bristol Rovers in February 2010 Grant Basey, playing because Kelly Youga had been injured against Bristol Rovers, was on the receiving end of a horror tackle 12 seconds into the game from Dominic Blizzard, who only got a booking. I don't think Basey ever really recovered from that ankle injury either, which is sad because he was only young when it happened. I have hated Dominic Blizzard ever since, which I'm sure he's devastated about. I don't think I've seen such a deliberate attempt to harm another player since that game though, it was an absolutely insane challenge.Sage said:

Leicester's released and retained announcement.
Among those is captain Ricardo Pereira, who made 220 appearances for us across eight seasons since joining from Porto in his native Portugal in the summer of 2018.Ricardo was part of the squads that won the 2021 Emirates FA Cup and the FA Community Shield later that same year. He also found the net 15 times from right-back – none more memorable than the late UEFA Conference League Quarter-Final winner away at PSV Eindhoven in 2022, as well as lifting the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship title.Alongside Ricardo, strikers Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew, defender Jamaal Lascelles and Academy graduate Wanya Marçal will also leave us at the end of the season following the expiration of their contracts.Goalkeeper Asmir Begović’s contract is also due to expire this summer, but he remains in discussions with us about the possibility of extending his stay at King Power Stadium. In addition to those players, the loan spells of Jordan James, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Aribo, Dujuan Richards and Divine Mukasa will all end and see the players return to their parent clubs. We have also exercised options to extend the contracts of five players from our Academy - midfielders Henry Cartwright, 21, Tommy Neale, 20 and Ryan Donnelly, 19, and defenders Thomas Wilson-Brown, 21, and Reiss Khela, 19.Contract offers have also been made to goalkeepers Stevie Bausor and Harry French, both 20, defenders Mirsad Ali, 20 and Bobby Amartey, 19, midfielders Silko Thomas and Logan Briggs, both 21 and forward Josh King, 20.Meanwhile we can also confirm that goalkeeper Jake Donohue, 20, defender Jahmari Lindsay, 21, midfielders Alfie Fisken, 20, Toby Onanaye, 19 and Olaoluwa Omobolaji, 18 and striker Chris Popov, 21, will be leaving the Football Club.We would like to thank all players who are leaving us for their contributions during their time on Filbert Way and wish them the very best for the future.0 -
Also, bringing this thread back on topic, I'd like to submit Elliot Omozusi as a contender for worst ever player. God he was terrible. They said his prison sentence in 2011 was for witness intimidation but I suspect at least a little bit of it was for his performances for us3
