Saturday was the first time I'd seen a Charlton women's match (I live too far away and watched it on the box), so a question for the regulars ... How good is Sophie Whitehouse ?,Β  how does she compare to the other English keepers in the women's Premier league ? , could she get in the England team ?
Only if Ireland takes over England as a colony.Β

AMAZING VALUE Womens Prem League ST.
Can't believe they are so cheap - Β£65 for 13 games works out at about a Β£5 a match.
Wish I lived a bit closer.
Hats off to the Marketing Dept because at those prices they have really done the right thing IMO.
Good luck girls for next season.
Sophie Whitehouse - what a fantastic keeper she is.
agree - got mine for Β£45!
    Β£35, but then I am ancient.Β

    Less than Β£3 a game!

It would be rude not to...

LCL trying to sign Alexia Putellas from Barcelona. I don’t think we will be fishing in the same pool

We won't know where the away games will be until the fixtures come out, because 9 of the 14 clubs are Premier League or EFL clubs who don't use their main stadium and they'll all shift at least a few games to the main ground once they see the fixture dates. Also, some may join us, Arsenal, Birmingham and Villa in playing at the club's main ground.

The three that have their own grounds (Chelsea, Everton & City) all use those grounds for under-21 men's games and first-team women's.

So with those caveats, and bearing in mind this is the grounds clubs were using last season and they're free to move any time they want:

Chelsea - at Kingsmeadow (women's team ground)
Crystal Palace - at Sutton United

Chelsea have already announced that games will be played at Stamford Bridge. Palace can't play all their games at Sutton United next season. The lights don't meet the TV requirements. Assume they will play all games at Selhurst Park.
They only played 3 games Selhurst Park in 24/25. Source

Think Sutton remains their main home ground for non major wsl matchdays.

But what a statement that would be!Β

For those that aren't really female footballer followers, Putellas is widely regarded as one of the best women's footballers of all time, would be the equivalent of someone like Brentford or Bournemouth signing Messi when he left Barca

Personally I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by our dealings in the summer, there's a lot of talent in the WSL that probably don't play as often as they'd like right now and would see us as an opportunity to play more football, especially seeing as the world cup is in 2027.Β

Worth remembering that although the winter window was poor, some of our summer business was quite shrewd. Kenney has been a decent pick up out of nowhere and Lobato an excellent one. Ellie Mason came from within the division but has been great as has Fitzgerald. All that was with most of the money being spent on Thestrup. I’m hopefulΒ

Rings a bell. They’re the vanity project arm of a multi club project. They’re a bit like a sole mid-2010s MLS. Maybe it’ll pay off but their squad building is very much names rather than cohesionΒ

True for this season too but as I said the lights there don't meet TV requirements (plus some other things) for WSL1.

No idea how true it is but I saw someone say the chance of saving 4/5 pens is 0.02%
Err ..... depends on who's taking the penalties, surely?

Probably just as well we didn't sack Karen then! Well deserved award, this season she completed a calendar year unbeaten, managed to get to March without losing and then took the team up despite having absolutely no budget to work with. She's developed what she had, kept the key players like Hutton, Newsham, Skeels and N'Dow when we easily could have lost them. and then beat a WSL team at the end. We actually beat 2 of the 3 WSL teams we played this season. I think if you added up every transfer fee the women's team have ever paid you'd still not get that close to what Birmingham were able to spend on individual players so it can't really be overstated how big this achievement was, and how important it happen this year before the gap widens again next season.

Didn’t we lose to Liverpool and West Ham?

I forgot about Liverpool! We lost to West Ham and beat Brighton in the silly cup games. We got battered by West Ham in a way that felt quite like quite a traditional WSL v WSL2 match but then we only lost in extra time to Liverpool so it feels like we did make a massive improvement in terms of facing those sorts of teams down. Against Brighton we were very solid and Anna Pedersen put in a performance that made me think the only keeper who could keep her out of the team was unfortunately for her the one we already had. Still going to be a nightmare season but there's usually one WSL team that has an unexpectedly rancid year so we only have to be better than whoever that is, probably Everton, and Palace next season.

It's absolutely fine, as long as Barcelona don't expect to receive the agreed transfer fee
