    Martin O'Neill has agreed to become Celtic's manager on a permanent basis, following talks with Dermot Desmond in London.

    The 74-year-old will sign a one-year contract, with the option of a further year.

    Booing at the first game is never a good look. Tbf to Rangers I was impressed with Dundee United and they should have got the three points had Randall not blown it. Dundee had a Ferry getting up and down the pitch and a handy Croatian midfielder and Fernandez for Rangers looked, to me, their best player, despite Aasgaard getting MoM.

    Have just looked to see who they have played.
    I have a reasonable knowledge of football abroad, but number one I had never heard of this mob, and number two have no idea what country they play in.
    Whilst the Scots are very partisan, they have zero patience and I would not be surprised that the Rangers fans that attended the game would have been throwing their scarves onto the pitch.

    I think with Bloom’s investment and access to Brighton’s research info, they’ll be thereabouts.  But…a kick in the teeth to lose Shankland & McKinney, even if both were pretty predictable.

    Hearts had their chance for glory last season, I can see this season will be another where they finish at least 30 points behind the champions.

    Getting him for 11m is a great deal. Saw him last season in the Champions league and he looked pretty good, scored twice against Man City.

    If he does well he's the sort of player a mid-table Premier league team will buy for 40-50m in two years time.

    Celtic pretty unlucky tonight. LASK Linz is a notoriously tough place to go.

    4-0 up in the tie and lost 5-4.

    According to Flashscore, LASK had 40 shots.

    O'Neill in his post match interview bemoaning missed chances and "we should've had the game out of sight".

    They were 4-0 up with 60 minutes to go.

    Even though I would support Rangers over Celtic I do think Celtic have been hard done by, having to play a qualifier to get into the Champions League. 

    I mean, they WERE the Champions of Scotland ffs !

    Whereas teams in England that finished 4th & 5th qualified  !

    (But it is funny being 4-0 up and still losing)

    Recent European results have highlighted and somewhat vindicated the changes UEFA have put in place regarding Scottish clubs in Europe from next season. Simply not good enough across the board.

    Your league has to be in the top 10 in Europe coefficient (based on your team’s performances) to have a guaranteed place in the competition, without qualification rounds.

    Scottish teams have done that poorly over the last few seasons that they’ve dropped to 19th, behind the likes of Norway, Cyprus and Hungary.
