Off on a 14 night P&O Med cruise tomorrow on Arvia. Booked over a year ago it’s finally arrived. Really looking forward to some much needed R&R.
Big old ship that....was on it earlier in the year.

Just landed in Corfu. EES is off, queue would take 15mins at most to get through passport control
Greg Docherty is in Corfu atm. Keep an eye out.

We were in  Cape Town in March and our Qatar return flight was due to return to the UK via Doha.

To play safe we decided to book  an additional Air France flight via Paris as we didn't think the Qatar flight would be running. Sure enough the flight was cancelled and since the end of March we have been trying to get a refund and still waiting. Don't think we will be flying with Qatar again!.
That’s unusual for Qatar. From my experience they have one of the best customer service teams and quickest to confirm refunds etc.

    Recently got back from Bali.

Not what I expected at all.

Beautiful parts v not so good.
    Wealth v abject poverty.

I suppose a lot, if not the majority of countries/islands are the same but it surprised me.

And the traffic/peds, well fuck me. Describing it as madness doesn't do it justice.

Not having a pop (honest) but that's a long way to go to be surprised. I just put "what's Bali like" into google and the vast majority of articles suggest what you have described.
It was the last stop on our son's tour of SE Asia & Australia so not much research was done by us if I'm honest.

And you're right, it is a long way to go.

I just put "what's SporadicAddick like" into Google and the vast majority of responses said "always having pops at people" :)

How was it? I wasn’t able to make it but know quite a few of those who did go out. Had potential to get very messy.

Off to Tenerife on Sunday for a week - can't wait.
    Whereabouts Bob?

Was in Costa Adeje in January.  Going back in January,  but this time to Los Cristianos

Costa Adeje as well - Grand Hotel Salome. First time at that hotel but my son and daughter-in-law have stayed there a couple of times in the last six months and they recommended it. Looks good.

The JAIO Salome lived up to it's reputation, and some. Simply fantastic hotel and we've booked to go there again at the end of September.

Would recommend it unreservedly - it's pricey but worth it.

Saw them in the bulldog on Friday and they had drunk the place out of Moretti by about 4pm! Saw Tony on the flight back on Sunday eve I was half asleep so didn’t have much chat.

Considered one of the nicest in the area (if not the nicest), hoping the sister hotel we are at in July is equally as nice!

Far west of Ireland end of next week to catch up with my brother for a few days. Joined by my other brother, three old men on a grumblefest.
Not sure that counts as a holiday, but I have changed pounds into Euro’s, and as a change from the usual instead of blimmin Ryanair from Gatwick (easy to get to from SE London) I will do the Elizabeth line to Heathrow and fly Aer Lingus.
Hope that is a good decision.

Just come back from Donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way. Brilliant holiday, people warm and welcoming.
No crowds, beautiful scenery. The seafood is just out of this world. Give me this over the overpriced Amalfi Coast the Spanish Costas.
Flew Loganair to Derry and hired a car. Stayed in Letterkenny.

I have to admit I have never heard of them.

    Do they fly to Shannon?

Two weeks left of a 7 week road trip with the wife and JJ the dog. We are currently in Malcesine, Lake Garda, which is stunning. Then moving to Desenzano at the same Lake and then Lezzeno in lake Como. Then returning home slowly via Nancy in France and Brussels. We visited Mennagio on the way out and had a villa with a pool in Bologna for three weeks and our son and his girlfriend visited us there for a week. Also spent a week in Forli where my dad came from. I have a cosin left and she knows all the best places to eat and the food is stunning. We have been to the beach and Rimini has a dog beach where you get an enclosure near the sea with sun loungers. I just love the food here and it is very reasonable. We had a lovely meal last night on a section of the restaurant on pillars over the lake. Retirement is not so bad!

Should be in the "things that make you feel old" thread. I remember when these aircraft were brand new to the BA fleet and the very essence of modern regional jet travel...

    Thanks Bob.

That's for bed and breakfast (some breakfast!) - half-board and all inclusive are also available but that ramps the price up significantly and probably unnecessary. It's an adults only hotel that's a big chill, so drinking the bar dry isn't really necessary and there are a lot of great restaurants in the area for variety. That said, the pool bar at the Salome does great lunches and the hotel restaurants (6) offer real quality, especially the Poseidon restaurant that offers fine dining (the best steak I've had for a very long time). All the hotel restaurants are very good though - around €80 per head including good wine, the Poseidon around €100 per head with exceptional wine which for me is good value based on the very high quality of food.

The Poseidon and al a carte breakfast restaurant are for Salome residents only, the other restaurants are shared with the adjoining Anthelia Hotel which looks great as well and is designed more for families.

I sound like a rep for Iberostar but it really is a remarkably good hotel for being spoilt rotten and for recharging batteries.

I recently stayed a couple of nights at the Tamadot Kasbah in Morocco in the Atlas Mountains after a 2 week tour. It’s owned by Richard Branson. It’s not cheap but the rooms and staff were exceptional.

We're having a great holiday at the Four Seasons Cyprus, but a bit hot for us so next time we return will be mid May or late Sept.

We went on a great 1/2 day trip yesterday the hotel arrange for guests - there were 16 of us;  4 Russia, an American, an Australian and the rest Brits.

I got chatting to a lovely woman over the lunch and it transpired we had both lived in at least 3 of the same places in Kent, Surrey and London. One of them being Greenwich, so I just thought I'd mention.....and to Shrek's usual delight (not!).......she's also a Charlton supporter!
