To be honest we did well to keep that game live until the final over, that was poor.2

Good seat with the sun in your eyes for the most of it. Surprised it was so close but made it an exciting match1

We sit in the same area every year, always front row opposite the pavilion.McBobbin said:Good seat with the sun in your eyes for the most of it. Surprised it was so close but made it an exciting match
It's not every year though that one of our group has made such an arse of himself on TV.
We've been playing that Sky Sports clip almost continuosly since we left the ground and I hint stopped crying with laughter!4 -
Was he the guy who missed his seat and fell on his arse? That was most amusing0

Yep!McBobbin said:Was he the guy who missed his seat and fell on his arse? That was most amusing
It was Kev's first (and he says last) cricket match.
In the clip I'm the one in the blue cap pissing himself on the left.
We're still watching the clip!

In the pub afterwards a lady came up to Kev wanting a photo with him!!

Didn't watch but just listened to the radio. Ended up being so close at the end.
There was a lot of laughter had about your mate Kev and his unfortunate mishap with a folding chair.0 -
Rumour has it that Evison is going on loan to Leicestershire for the next two CC matches.
There must have been some sort of fall out between Evison and the management which, presumably, followed him being dropped from the CC side and being subbed out by Billings in the last game he played.4 -
A bit odd for a struggling L2 player to be loaned to a L1 county.0

Leicestershire's seam options have been a bit all over the place.killerandflash said:A bit odd for a struggling L2 player to be loaned to a L1 county.
Seems like Joey is going there to cover Ian Holland going to Major League Cricket.0 -
Would have been a time where I would have been disappointed to see evison leaving but he flatters to deceive, really hasn’t kicked on whatsoever0

Let's have a "You're The Umpire". Like all good umpires, you should take your time before coming to your decision - "Out" or "Not Out"?

I genuinely feel sorry for Evison. He came to us as an obvious talent but he hasn't excelled in red or white ball and I'm left me still wondering what type of all-rounder he is.
One first class hundred four years ago with an average of 30.81 and an average of 22.80 at a strike rate of 123.70 in T20 would suggest that bowling is his first suit. But 89 wickets at just 39.93 really doesn't demonstrate that.
Evison, at the moment, is the sort of player who can fulfil that role of fifth bowler and bat at 7 in a successful side but not someone who is likely to win you many games. The one thing I would say is that he is still only 24 and a change of scenery might do him the world of good.
So, I wouldn't write him off quite yet, as he is still young and our greatest ever all-rounder, albeit that he wasn't really one when he joined us, was some four years older at the time he agreed to join us. From 2005:
Darren Stevens, who was not offered a new contract by Leicestershire at the end of last season, has signed a two-year deal with Kent to bolster their middle-order batting. Stevens, 28, made his debut for Leicestershire in 1997, but failed to establish a place in the side until Aftab Habib and Ben Smith had left. He toured with the England Academy side in 2002-03, was in the final squad of 30 for the last World Cup, and has made over 600 runs in each of the last three seasons. But the feeling lingered at Grace Road that he never quite fulfilled the potential that his vibrant strokeplay suggested.1 -

Point taken. Darren Stevens, "our greatest ever modern-era all-rounder".Leuth said:Frank Woolley just flashed you a disgruntled glare from his grave, AA0 -
How many T20 Blasts and One Day Cups did Woolley win?

Disappointed to hear this news.
We've always been fans of Joey & have felt he's not been given enough chances thus far this season to develop his role in the team.
Spoke briefly to him on the staircase outside the away dressing room at Lords when we were guests there of a fellow Addick/ Middlesex Board member & found him very friendly & approachable.
We wish him well in his appearances for Leicestershire & sincerely hope he returns "home" with renewed determination to gain a regular place in the team.2 -
Playing at a higher level might push him on a bit.
Always look on the bright side of life.0 -
The biggest irony of what I've said above is that we gave Evison a three-year deal but offered Stevens just two years initially. Who would have predicted that Stevens would have ended up with 18 seasons with us and would play his last match at the age of 46? Murderers served less time than that.4

Crawley, probably sensibly, has decided to not play in the next two round of the Championship

As I've said previously, I think he will migrate to playing just white ball. This will also give the opportunity to Dawkins to cement his place in the side alongside Compton.3

It saves the embarrassment of Kent dropping him...3

I too, have decided not to play for Kent in the next two rounds of the County Championship8
