Surprised it hasn't opened a huge can of worms where everyone appealed the speeding penalties. Russell got one, didn't take it properly and got a drive through as a result, completely ruining his race, for instance
Alpine were the only team to appeal in time. Too late now for everyone else. More fool them!
George could only have got 5 seconds back anyway. His own/the team's fault for the drive-through.

Shame Hamilton had a scruffy first sector on his final run, his best first sector would have put him another half a tenth closer to Russell

I think Hamilton's pace is getting to LeClerc and he is trying too hard at the moment.  Hamilton is vindicating his move to the prancing horse and showing all the doubters they have got it wrong. I think Ferrari have changed the way they go about things to suit Hamilton and it is helping them too.

I don't think it is, Charles has always had a crash or three in him, it's the nature of his driving style. Until his crash today he was the faster of the Ferraris all weekend, and by all accounts has still been faster than Hamilton this season more than the other way around

Wondering if he drove conservatively in the first sector in order to keep the tyres for the last two.

They were on the limit for one lap in that session.

Hamilton is just in the zone at the moment and Charles needs to breathe, refocus and come back stronger.

Ferrari have an engine upgrade advantage over the others and the car is clearly already there from a mechanical and aerodynamic perspective.

For me the season hinges on Ferrari clawing back the 20-30hp.

They do that - and at the age of 41, almost unbelievably, number 8 is on

Faster if he takes more risks I suspect.

Indeed. You can be as fast as you like but doesn’t mean much if you keep putting it in the wall.

He will be back and I would still bank him to come out on top over the season.

But the fact a 41 year old Hamilton is pushing him so hard is no slight on Charles. It just shows how bloody good Lewis was in his prime.
