Aribo released by Southampton. I'd be happy to have him back, still only 29
The Aribo of 2019? Yes, I'd love to have him.

The Aribo of 2026? Not so sure.
Seems like the only way we'd be able to get him back is when his stock is low though. Good opportunity for him to rebuild in familiar surroundings. Got Turkey written all over him for me though
In fairness we’ve signed our fair share of turkeys in recent times.

    Rak-Sakyi has been released

Chelsea have also confirmed that 21-year-old striker Ronnie Stutter will move to a month-to-month contract with the club.

I didn’t know this was a thing. Not much stability for the lad.

Not that he’s had a bad career, but when he left us, I was very confident Aribo was going to have an incredible career. Obviously only 29, so still time to go on and do more, but I thought he’d be consistently playing at top tier by now (Premier League, Bundesliga etc)

He did well enough at Rangers, won the league and got to the finals of the Europa league. It was moving to Southampton and then getting relegated with them that seems to have screwed him over. I can imagine an alternate universe where he went to Villa or some other club instead and probably would be looking decent at a higher level.

Aribo is probably on higher wages than we can afford.
After years of league one football I had forgotten the basic standard footballers need to have to play at Championship or higher level.
I was reminded what a proper higher level footballer should be like at the most fundamental level when I saw the estimable Bell last season, and even squeaky Connor Coady.
If he is fit and affordable then Aribo would not be a particular regressive signing given the experience he has had playing at the levels he has.

We inquired about Aribo last summer. Wouldn't be shocked if he trained with us for a bit/came in on trial but his reputation has defiantly taken a hit in the last few years

Some Twitter account has decided to make up that Peterborough are going to spend £850k on Ahadme. Even if he was worth it, they don’t have that money

This endless fascination with ex players on this forum. I would take Aribo of a few years ago in a heart beat. Look what happened when we got Harry Arter back on loan. He was a shadow of his former self.

Agree. Aribo is a busted flush in my opinion.

The fact Aribo was brought in to try and help Leicester not get relegated to L1 and Gary Rowett trusted him to play a total of 53 minutes for that whole half of the season should tell us everything we need to know

I have got no problem with him having a trial and spending some time pre season with us. But we need some legs in midfield with some passing and goalscoring ability.

Appleton also made Lloyd Jones look like an average Cb in L1. Nathan Jones came in and made him arguably our best cb since the prem so always difficult to judge on one managers opinion.

There is definite question marks regarding aribos level of fitness motivation and salary demands so would definitely be a huge gamble but, if he can fix up there’s no denying what he can do it’s just whether he’s too far gone in the abyss at present

Might be £8.50, bite their hands off, that is the best offer we will get.

I imagine we’d let him go on a free if the other team picked up his wages.

We’d be lucky to get 85k, all clubs will know he is not wanted & we want to offload

We won’t get anything for him and will probably have to pay most of his wages to get rid

I think there's been a bit of confusion from the Chinese whispers from when this rumour got leaked. It's okay I'll correct if for everyone.

We will be offering to pay Peterborough £850k to take Ahadme from us. Easy mistake but it's worth every penny.

Yeah will be an expensive one to pay up but I suspect we're going to unfortunately have to bite the bullet because no one will offer a fee for him and another years loan is no use to anyone.

Aribo doesn't work hard enough to be in Nathan Jones team.

It's a no from me. Cult hero for being part of the Bowyer promotion team but he isn't what we were need right now.

He was excellent at Rangers and at the time I thought, it’s quite a sensible choice given his age.  It was a big ask in a poor Soton team, but it’s uncovered his lack of effort as a player for me.  It’s obvious how his career has panned out he’s been quite happy to take the money and not push on.  If he really wanted it, with the talent he’s got, he could’ve had an okay career in the Prem.  He’s not interested and you’ll see him move to somewhere like Saudi before he signs for someone like us and puts his head down and grafts
