If I remember correctly Alex Gilbert has been released by Middlesbrough, I gather he was liked by Jones so perhaps both parties might be interested in getting a deal done.
No thank you .  He was a bit better than Berry in league one but not that good .

If I had to choose between Anderson and Rankin Costello I would choose Anderson.
Disagree. You can get fitter and stronger which Rankin Costello needs to, I don’t think you can learn how to pick a pass and be better on the ball which Anderson needs to do and JRC is the best in our central midfield at currently.

If JRC started putting in those Parker-esque tackles Anderson can put in we’d have some midfielder.
This, but literally the exact opposite, cheers
Exactly, Anderson is still young enough to improve a lot on the ball. He’s not played a full season as a first team regular yet, so let him do that this season in league 1 and it will make a huge difference. Then we can judge next summer whether he’s going to make it here or if not we sell him to league 1

Rankin-Costello is not going to have a physical transformation at 26. He’s good technically but Jones is probably never going to trust him because he’s not strong enough in the tackle or able to cover ground like our other midfielders
I’m 35, just spent 4 months going to the gym and I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m sure if a professional athlete hit the weights and/or spent the summer working on their fitness they’d come back physically very different.
But everyone has physical capacities in terms of fitness and pace, if he's at or close to those then no amount of fitness work will change that

Agreed, I did not rate him. He is not what we need.

Karoy has areas of his game he needs to improve but I struggle to recall any attributes Docherty has that are better. Certainly not distribution, pace or aerial ability.
Both are destructive midfielders - there to nick the ball and give it to someone more creative (only we don't have anyone yet).
At the end of last season Doc was superb for us and massively important
Anderson is a year older than Scott Parker when we loaned him to Norwich and he came back a different player.  Anderson deserves time to find his niche.

For what it's worth I am not a fan of JRC in the slightest.  He's a carthorse.  We can do
     better and must do better

We could raid Oxford or even Hull as they need £6m.

Distribution? Anderson can't trap a bag of cement to be able to then pass the ball! And neither are fast to any degree. Docherty is a better leader, tackler, better striker of the ball, better man marker and has a better engine overall.

Some on here look at him playing 5 average games for Blackpool and believe he's the missing piece in our midfield again, absolutely ludicrous

May well not be anything like what happens but he's quoting what has been said on the other site since January.

Might be a few players from Hull that they need to move on...not sure if any would fit our needs or budget.
