Owners cant put in say £18m a season also.
    Why not ?

    They are billionaires
Under new rules owners can only inject 33M over 3 seasons with 15M max in one season. Rest of expenditure has to be generated through income (85% total income) although doesnr include academy costs.

Also end of the day whether they’re billionaires or not, we’d be happy to spend that money if we had that amount on Charlton, but I guarantee if a lot of Charlton fans owned a hockey team in the USA we wouldn’t happily and necessarily lose a ridiculous amount of money per year

The fact Aribo was brought in to try and help Leicester not get relegated to L1 and Gary Rowett trusted him to play a total of 53 minutes for that whole half of the season should tell us everything we need to know
Maybe that says as much about Rowett as Aribo.

Bree wasn’t trusted to play by Southampton’s first manager last season, came to us and played a lot, and finished the season an integral part of Southampton under a difference.

Not saying I want Aribo back, but not right to say it tells us everything we need to know, because one manager didn’t play him last season.

If you have a billion £ then 15 million £ is 1.5% of your total. I realise it’s not my money but I’d assume that for our owners the ownership of CAFC is a hobby. It’s certainly not a good business investment. I’ve never quite understood why very rich people like our owners don’t “go for it a little more”.  It’s like me having £1000 and spending £15 on my hobby. I realise Football Fair Play is a major factor in what’s allowed to be spent and I’m relieved that our owners are sensible in their stewardship of the club but I still don’t quite understand owners of football clubs.

It tells us everything we need to know following the context of the rest of his career. Bree was a good player who Jones liked and knew, and then Will Still who was a disaster didn't like him but the next manager did. That's why we were happy to get Bree, we took advantage of one manager's misjudgement. Aribo however hasn't had a good game in years. He's never been very well thought of at Southampton but they haven't been able to find anyone to take him permanently. He was totally unwanted this season by Still and then by Eckert, the manager who recognised what Bree could bring to his team. He was then farmed out to Leicester who were absolutely desperate and their manager, one who believes in a strong defence and good organisation, couldn't find a place for him in his team. Three managers didn't want Aribo this season and Saints have been desperate to shift him for years. Rowett choosing not to use him to avoid L1 survival completes the story.

I'd absolutely have Aribo back if he was half the player he was when he left us.

Karoy has areas of his game he needs to improve but I struggle to recall any attributes Docherty has that are better. Certainly not distribution, pace or aerial ability.
Distribution? Anderson can't trap a bag of cement to be able to then pass the ball! And neither are fast to any degree. Docherty is a better leader, tackler, better striker of the ball, better man marker and has a better engine overall.

Some on here look at him playing 5 average games for Blackpool and believe he's the missing piece in our midfield again, absolutely ludicrous

Who said he was a missing piece in our midfield? Just about everyone who wants to keep him are saying we should loan him out to a League One team for the whole season and see how he gets on.
Blackpool fans seem very keen to sign him by the way which suggests to me he was a little better than average and must have shown some promise there.

There are 1,000 millions in a billion, so it is 0.15% of your total.  So your point is even more valid.

Judging by the size of him he's twice the player he was when he left us.

Getting Joe Aribo in on a pay as you play deal would be the dream transfer for a certain contingent on Charlton Life (you know who you are).

Ticks a lot of boxes, ex player, clearly past his best, name recognition, idiosyncratic wage arrangement etc.

    Let's make it happen.

It is a sure sign that supporting this club is akin to being in an abusive relationship and escaping ! far too many people wanting to go back to Ex's lol

The Anderson conversation was prompted by the alleged bid from Blackpool, and my comment comparing him to JRC.
Whether he is first team ready right now is an extra part of the conversation.

Pay as you play deals just really don’t exist in reality

Are we in for Danny Imray then or have I missed something? Would be a great signing.

Not liked but he may only have a year left on his contract, is local, and a fan, an not getting a look in at Palace.  Oh and he's very very good

Do we know he’s a fan or are we just assuming because he once wore a shirt on Instagram that was probably gifted to him by one of our players?

He would be a much better option on the right than Clarke (who I like tbf) so hopefully something could happen. Palace have a few decent players on the periphery of their squad… as much as it sickens me to acknowledge.

Even if your gifted a top to then wear it and post a gym photo without any significance especially when it may be used against you in the future. Would be shocked if he wasnt

We can't assume he's a fan because he wore our shirt at the gym once.

Didn't we figure out it was probably Deji Eleweres shirt from being at Bromley? Although I'd absolutely love Imray as a signing

As others have said - he can afford gym clobber.  it just happens to be the shirt of his club's rival.  imagine if one of our current players was spotted in a Millwall shirt in the gym.  And anyway, even if hes not a fan it looked good on him so he should sample he real thing

LCB, 3 wingbacks , 3 CMs and a striker would make sense. Would also probably mean quite a few outs to balance it.

Yes, 8 is a decent number of players,  considering we're talking first teamers, and the number of players we currently have.
