I see Evison didn't have the greatest of debuts for Leicestershire - 1 (16) & 9 (26) with the bat and 11-0-58-1 & 1.5-0-10-1 with the ball. Hopefully his second game for them will prove more fruitful.

Just to demonstrate how far, as a team we've come, of the side that just defeated Lancashire, only Dawkins, Ekansh, Finch and Parkinson played in the final game of last season against Derbyshire.

We had five U19s in that side and although we were thrashed, the experience of playing at that level in what was a meaningless game will have done them the world of good and also indicated to us who might be ready for the first team this season.

In reply to Kent 2s first innings score of 426, Somerset were 228 all out. A certain left arm leggie, signed for the Blast and with just three first class games behind him at the age of 33, returned figures of 8.3-0-32-5.

Lintott has definitely put himself in the shop window and one would hope that we will be the buyers.

Kent 2s were 212 all out in their 2nd innings thereby setting Somerset 411 to win. At lunch that's not looking likely with Somerset 64-5. Klaassen with 3-18 and Jas with 2-19 the wicket takers.

Kent 2s win by 206 runs.  Wicket takers - Lintott (4-69 in innings & 9-101 in match), Klaassen (3-18 in innings & 5-70 in match) and Jas (3-54 & 4-107 in match).
  • Lintott looking gold. Don't post this anyone

Yes, looking a decent upgrade on Parkinson

Muyeye still not cleared to play from his concussion incident but Compton has been added to the squad for the game starting tomorrow against Middlesex

Not necessarily saying I’d play him but what’s happened to Crawley? Is he injured?

Basically, he wants a break from red ball:

After discussions between Zak Crawley, the player group, coaching staff & the ECB, Crawley will be rested for this match. This period will allow him to recharge so he can fully commit and give his all for the remainder of the season, with his immediate focus shifting to T20 cricket through to the end of the Vitality Blast.

So, Compton and Stewart in for Foreman and Finch, who can count himself pretty unlucky. Equally, not sure I'm a fan of Stewart batting at 7 given the two 19 year-olds above him and an out of form Northeast. Hope I'm proved wrong and we score 450 plus.

    On my way to Canterbury.

Finch is unfortunate,  being neither a star youngster or a big name.

Kent batting and have scored no runs in the first 3 overs. They've been instructed to dead bat until I arrive.

I've arrived,  so we can start playing now.

Loads of school children here today. Not many watching the game though.

Hope you have a great day, killerandflash.

Looks like a rip-roaring run fest at Canterbury this morning! Maybe not, but a solid start.

Sped up a bit after I arrived, though a bit dot or 4, with not enough singles.

Impressed by the young bowler Sharma.

Feel like Finch gets quite a raw deal in this setup, dropped from start of season, earned his place back, did well last game and dropped again

Dawkins out for 50. Caught off a leading edge.

40 of his runs came in 4s, a strangely high percentage

Very poor over rate here. Just 57 overs bowled, 15 minutes after the scheduled tea interval,  and we're still playing.
