The future with Roland_Duchâtelet

What will happen when Roland Duchâtelet passes away.

He is now 79 years old, he could last maybe another 5, 8 maybe 10 years. He still has the ownership of the Valley. Not sure about the training ground.

Personally I hope the ownership of the Valley, will passed to his family.

With luck could sold back to the current owners.

No happy with the current situation.

Any future dispute, could result , with a move from the Valley.

To me Charlton Athletic is the Valley and Valley is Charlton Athletic

I supported the team when they were transferred to Crystal Palace. (as they had no say in the matter)

I will not do it again, Any move away will end my support for our team

I honestly hate Roland as he sold the club to an Arab and a man from Manchester.

How we escaped that was a minor miracle.

There was some valuation work done this year I believe, linked to the property assets; but no idea why, prolly only for the old scrotes accounts, but I live in hope.

Obviously "a man from Manchester" is a given!

His six kids inherit The Valley . All depends on if they are as stubborn as he is. Could get messy .

Believe he has undertaken some company restructuring around the assets - imagine to do with inheritance planning. Unfortunately Belgian company law is not as transparent as in the UK. Lieven de Turck and Katrien Meire are still in the picture as directors alongside family members.

De turk is the sole director of Charlton athletic holdings now, but Baton 2010 has significant control, but De turk is sole director of Baton 2010. Can someone make sense of that? Has De Turk already inherited everything?

Squirrel face gets The Valley and flogs it for property development.

No I hate him because he put the club in a dangerous position.

I called him an Arab because I could not remember his name.

You should not assume I have that opinion.

Answering my own question having read the Baton thread on here, last updated June 2025. Valley Ant tells us, regarding ticket sales and where that revenue goes -

Nothing for Baton or Charlton Athletic Holdings Ltd.
They just earn rental income from the Valley and the training ground and pay a greater sum in loan interest to Staprix as far as I can see.

Which would mean De Turk as sole director of both entities makes sense.

@Weegie Addick, where does Katrien and his family.members fit in as directors or is that a recent thing as you mention a restructuring?

Duchatelet, his son and daughter, Meire and de Turk are board members of the Duchatelet Family Foundation. It’s a structure to allow the estate planning of his wealth and assets.

Then, with the greatest respect, if you dont have that opinion you need to be a lot lot clearer what you're posting, because that's exactly how it reads.

So, not really much of an assumption if it's just reading your words and applying their normal everyday meaning.

My biggest concern wrt to ownership of the Valley is Greenwich Council.
They seem to regard property developers as people who they need to bend over backwards to accommodate, and to delight in the destruction of any architecture in the Borough of either historical or community interest.
I would be concerned about putting much hope in them stepping up if needed.

We best get our owners to buy it then.

Without The Valley back in our hands we are nothing.

It is a travesty how they allowed that block of flats to be built on the old observatory site, and as for the nuclear power station on the previois university grounds, they want shooting!

True, but in the early 2000’s we did have top 10 finishes in the Premier League.
