I think with the World Cup and a new manager he'll be heavily involved in their pre-season trip so not available until early August at the latestTalal said:
I doubt he'd be available at the end of the window if he's up for loan now. He wasn't great but not bad either, someone will go for him.fenaddick said:No link to us or real desire from me to sign him but The Athletic are reporting that Luke Chambers is available for loan again. Might be one of our back up options late in the window if we can't get other targets0 -
I was slightly underwhelmed by Chambers. Fine for a January loan signing, but didn't seem outstanding either going forward or in defence.
He filled a massive gap in our squad, but I'd be disappointed if we weren't able to bring someone better in. I'd rather someone more attacking, as we already have a very solid option in that position in Edwards.9 -
I feel the same. We need an upgrade on Chambers.killerandflash said:I was slightly underwhelmed by Chambers. Fine for a January loan signing, but didn't seem outstanding either going forward or in defence.

Re Chambers. He came to us on the back of a long term injury, not much football, short of match fitness. He filled a gap and did ok. I think fully fit, after a full pre season he’d be a much different prospect. Wouldn’t have him as first choice but as a back up, maybe. Depends what other irons we have in the fire.8

There are just so many unknowns - what NJ's priorities are, who is going, who is staying, what the budget is? I thought Chambers was OK and actually improved towards the end of his loan and think he would be fine as backup.raytreacy said:

He also can invert into midfield which could be helpful if we had a more mobile midfield. He wouldn't be my first choice option at all but I think he is better than we got to seeLargeAddick said:Re Chambers. Do they all speak French over in East London?mart77 said:Dodgy translation:
At the end of his engagement with FC Lorient, Sambou Soumano will pack his bags and leave the Breton club. The 25-year-old Senegalese striker has left behind a very correct statistical record since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2024. With 21 goals scored and 6 assists delivered under the Lorient colours, he proved his effectiveness and his ability to weigh heavily on the opposing defences. Today, the player is looking for a new ambitious sports project to confirm his talent.Of course, his status as a free agent does not go unnoticed. If several teams in France and Turkey quickly checked its name to strengthen themselves at a lower cost, it is in England that the interest is now the most bright. According to our information, the player's athletic profile is very pleasing across the Channel, with very concrete touches emanating from Derby County (Championship) as well as Charlton.2 -

Chambers will end up at Lincoln or Cardiff IMO3

Yeah chambers did alright, a bit lightweight but there were moments you could see why he was on Liverpool’s books (some delightful crosses). But would be hoping for a permanent of a more well rounded player0

As long as there is some through the door before Slovina then it doesn't matter. If you’re so obsessed by transfers go play football manager for a bit.5

Personally think that Chambers improved the more he played would be quite happy to sign wand feel he could be a solid starter not just a backup2

I think the issue with Chambers is the way we tended to play.We attack down one of the flanks with the Wing-Back and the other stays defensive...Neither Clarke / Chambers seemed an ideal option staying back, but the right flank seemed our preferred option going forward, so Chambers lost out and apart from the Leicester game didn’t really see him stand out in that regard.Maybe it just boiled down to Jones trusting Clarke going forward more though.0

Not sure Chambers will be the answer , a lot will be depending on what we sign on the right hand side first.
Think Sam is right further up the page with Chambers going to one of the newly promoted clubs1 -
This is the best way for us to set up so that TC can create width on the leftForeverAddickted said:I think the issue with Chambers is the way we tended to play.We attack down one of the flanks with the Wing-Back and the other stays defensive...Neither Clarke / Chambers seemed an ideal option staying back, but the right flank seemed our preferred option going forward, so Chambers lost out and apart from the Leicester game didn’t really see him stand out in that regard.Maybe it just boiled down to Jones trusting Clarke going forward more though.2
