I think I’m right that we will be away first game, home Boxing Day and at home last game of the season. As they alternate these each season

Would quite like one of the easier away games first to get off to a decent start. Maybe pompey away first game?

Is that true ? First I’ve heard of that.

I don’t think it’s true - we had Bournemouth at home first game two years on the trot, didn’t we?  They got stuffed £5 on the programme not once but twice.

    I think you're right.
There is usually a crappy game between Boxing Day and New Year, often a grim up north one.
Somebody will be at home to us on the fixture before Christmas, which I see as a chance because loads of the home fans will be out shopping ;)

I think when teams are relegated or promoted it’s not always possible for it to be the case. But as a rule they do rotate those fixtures each year if they can

I might be wrong though. The rule might just be if you’re at home first game you’ll be away last game or vice versa, and same for Boxing Day and new years

The first thing they should do is work out the 3 teams geographically closest to each club, and have 2 of those 3 teams as the Boxing Day and between Boxing Day and NYD game opponents. NYD should similarly be someone close to you, or easy to get to (maximum distance being Norwich, Southampton, Watford etc for us for instance)

Same should apply on Good Friday and Easter Monday

Not again. Last season's match was a painful watch.

They do that as much as possible on Boxing Day already. What they can't do is have big derby games on public holidays which is why we end up going to places like Norwich or Portsmouth a lot

The last 6 seasons have seen the opening league game of the season

    25/26: Home - Watford
    24/25: Away - Wigan Athletic
    23/24: Home - Leyton Orient
    22/23: Away - Accrington Stanley
    21/22: Home - Sheffield Wednesday
    20/21: Away - Crewe Alexandra

So if that pattern continues then we will be away first game up in the League

Bolton away looks like the geographic average there!

    I predicted before.
    First game WBA away.
    Boxing day Southampton home.
    Final game Derby home.
    In addition
Crap game between Christmas and New Year Burnley away.
    First midweek home game Norwich.
    First midweek away game Birmingham.

    Please gamble responsibly.

Can't wait to read Millwall away first game of the season whilst England are 30/4 in the 3rd test

At least we know, we’re definitely not playing Millwall in January then.
  • Bound to be Lincoln away first game. Gives them an easy game to start with in the eyes of the EFL

They often go for a promoted side vs relegated side first up. I reckon West Ham vs Lincoln at the running track
