Think that was said last summer too. There's no chance anyone on an internet forum actually knows what our budget is.
Other than Ronnie Moore, who says it’s £18m so we’ve got loads of money
It’s still no we’re near most of the championship  … second season is still going to be tough as other teams have seen ..
You've surpassed yourself with your grammatical errors.

So it looks like we're missing out on our main targets again. I'll snap your hand off at finishing 21st for this season.
Not sure if you're trying to be funny but some of your posts are odd
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we miss out on Barney Stewart? He probably wasn't our first choice but clubs like West Brom and Stoke are doing a lot of business at the moment. I understand we can't splash 5 million here or there but it's always difficult in the second season. I really thought we would push on and get some players in the door.

It’s simple. If the budget is small then we’ll be relegated. The club knows that just the same as we do. I don’t believe their five year plan includes going back to square one.

I wouldn’t give much credence to what reams and dickplumb say over there, both make it up as they go along.

ill be stunned if we don’t have a decent similar sized budget as we had last year

The rules mean we were never going to get a huge budget increase without a drastic increase in income - we’re not going to get big sponsorship deals like Wrexham, and we don’t have players we can sell for big money yet either.

Did we miss out on him? Don’t remember seeing any substantial links to him.

Any news on the offer of an ownership stake that was apparently being put out there a few months ago?

Seen a couple people mention on X that we are interested in Freddie Potts. Don’t know how true that is but would definitely be an improvement to our midfield.
I could improve our midfield and I'm 71.
That's the area we must concentrate on.

Stick you in the middle and you could be our Ray Wilkins.
We actually have something in common
Me and Ray Wilkins shagged the same bird.
    Ray Wilkins shagged your wife?

That's a bit out of order to be honest. Ray Wilkins never played for us, now Nicky Bailey or Sonny Carey  :#
I have been lead to believe that Its not just people who formally played for us who participate in a spot of wife shagging, and that apparently civilians also like a bit of slap and tickle.

Carter dismissed the story in the Athletic months ago but did say they wouldn't turn away potential new owners.

IIRC the Athletic writer guessed at the £20m figure based on the valuation of Ipswich but for some people it became FACT.

What does this supposed £18m figure relate to? Is it additional player budget funds compared to last season? It can’t be just transfer fees as they are spread over the duration of the contract and if we signed someone on a free they would likely be asking for more wages, £20k a week (an average wage in the Championship) is £1m a year, the same cost as paying a transfer fee of £3m on a 3 year contract. You cannot split transfers fee from wages, they are from the same pot.

Didn't they also name the merchant bank tasked with finding the investment?
Sounds a bit elaborate to go to those 'reporting' lengths for little old Charlton?

Gents maybe take the stories of 70's shagging elsewhere unless a child of that experience might be rumoured to join the club this summer.

It amazes me how so many people know the ins and out of our football club, they know the budget, they know where its coming from, they know everything, they even make up transfer rumours, as a certain someone says only believe whats on the charlton website or someone like crawley until then the rest is crap !!!

We’ll sign players. I think that January showed that lessons have been learned. We need Championship experience. I’d expect a couple of decent fees paid and a few out of contracts and some sensible and experienced loans.

All I got told was the figure for budget. Not sure if that is just fees or wages also. They are someone I trust. So we shall see

You may be surprised to learn that some posters on here do hear things from inside the club and then they pass on what they are told as they believe it to be true.

Admittedly some posters do make up shit because they think it's funny or to make themselves sound important.

But as this is a "rumours" thread it is up to the individual if they choose to believe the rumours posted or not.

The proof of the pudding is WIOTOS.
After that, if you feel like it, you can congratulate someone for getting it right or give someone shit for making stuff up.

I think we will spend around the same, probably slightly less, than we did last season on transfer fees. But we will increase our wage budget quite a bit, which is actually what usually determines the quality of player you can bring in

£18m is never happening, not sure why so many seem to have heard that figure. If they have it probably relates to our wage budget for the year, rather than transfer spend

No chance we are spending 18m on wages in a season- that equates to 350k a week.

if 18m is the correct figure I would imagine it’s fairly evenly split between wages and transfer/agent fees

For a squad of 30 it would be an average of 11k ish which seems unlikely given the amount of academy graduates

That makes more sense as a total budget for the season for the squad on wages and transfer fees

TWO MONTHS before the window closes. Reams is NOT a true Charlton supporter anymore, but lives in the past.  He no longer has inside information, but lives off scraps from other pages to protect his news feed. For the past three years he has been doom and gloom, yet Charlton win promotion, and stay in the Championship. TWO GREAT SEASONS!!
Players will be bought and sold, let’s hope for a successful outcome to 26/27 season.
He should work in politics.  never wrong, always got an answer
