Can you send the DVLA link that's can be used to verify your driving licence categories and endorsements. I don't know if it has age details, but it may be worth checking out.
I’ve just done one as I’m away next week, it doesn’t show your age or DOB.
Your dob is in your driver number, if it shows that
It doesn’t show all the number, the first 8 digits are all X.

Surely you can prove you're old enough simply by showing them you have an active CL account

Just switch your VPN on and set it to Holland and you're good to go.
Oh, not that kind of age verification...

So what would people advise? I received this, should I provide identification or ignore?

I would not ignore it. You risk missing a game.

If you've not done so in previous seasons then yes.

I got an email reply today thanking me for providing proof of age that said my ST has been activated.

So following advice I wrote a message back to the club by hitting ‘reply’ on the age verification message they sent to me. Didn’t work.
    This is what I got:

    Error Icon

    Message not delivered

Your message couldn't be delivered to CharltonAthletic@info.cafc.co.uk because the remote server is misconfigured. See the technical details below for more information.

That because it is a "no reply" email.

Try tickets@cafc.co.uk as per the email

    Oh.
    A no reply email.
Seems weird that something can land in your inbox that you can’t reply to.
I don’t understand why a communication about tickets hasn’t come from the tickets department, and does not allow a direct reply about tickets.
Imagine a marriage proposal, and the person proposed to has to communicate their answer to your mother.

You obviously don’t get many emails if you think no reply’ is unique to the club.

It’s about directing emails to the right teams / people and distinguishing from
the generic mechanism used to send the original notice. An analogy might be a business head office or registered address.

No reply emails are more common than you would think.

Granted, it is very strange in cases.

I have never before seen somebody - across the span of several years and two different accounts - demonstrate such a fundamental lack of understanding about how modern technology works. My mum understands email better than you and she's in her seventies and can barely operate Facebook for fucks sake.

perhaps someone needs to turn him off, and then on again?

I will try out the technology of public transport, and go to the ticket office to sort things out face to face.

So you will go there and let them take a copy of your birth certificate or similar but won’t email it to them?

    I don’t get the logic.

Do I need to worry if I haven't been asked for proof of age for my discounted season ticket?

Good question, I've been wondering that myself as I've nudged into the old codger discount this year. I've not had anything about verification, my confirmation did say prepare to be asked for proof of age if using a discounted ticket, although I'd guess that's standard.

    Not like that.
They can look at my ugly old face and make a judgement, or look at my bus pass, but not copy anything.
I won’t give them that kind of data, if they don’t trust me, then I don’t trust them with personal stuff.

This quite uncalled for. You must also remember that most of these emails are sent to people over 70 who are long standing supporters who keep the club alive.

And what would they do with a copy of your bus pass that would worry you so much ?

You are looking for an issue which isn’t there it seems.
