Rumour central all of a sudden!

C'mon Charlton...
A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain't satisfactionin' me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark...0 -
The link to another forum above where the poster references Wrexham as a potential hunting ground for a loan or two is very valid. Coady was surplus there and they have a quite a few players that they will be looking to upgrade who are all probably better than we currently have on the books. It’s a problem their MO produces. Sign very decent players who will be improved on just a year later. Keeping them all happy is virtually impossible.3

LWB. Not made many appearances in the last few years but was a regular in 23/24. Seems to be good in a duel and not scared to take a shotRed_James said:Potential Rumour:

Charlton are also my preferred choice but are yet to make contact. I continue to wait patiently by the phone. It's been 18 years.46

Sorry but I still don't understand which week you are referring to.Charlton43 said:A lot happening next week…0 -
Holsgrove would be a mint signing, but wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t want to return to the uk. Glad we’re still “in” for him, even if he’s not keen, feel he’s going to be another Galbraith that we miss out on.stjohnshill said:A few updates -
Holsgrove - Nathan Jones is “desperate” was the word I got, to sign him. They have spoken a few times. However, the lad at the moment favours a move to Germany where he has some offers(wasn’t able to get the clubs). At this stage seems very unlikely.Lloyds contract - Will get more info next week as I was told last Friday him and Godden deals were pretty close. One of the players whose contract we are in talks to extend has told the club, the team needs 7-9 signings this summer. 2/3 squad/ rotation players and the rest starters. Also that the squad needs more pace and power too.If the players don’t see much ambition and have offers from elsewhere then they would they stay? It’s all very quite on the incomings front at the moment…1 -
Dundee Utd have accepted a £1.8m bid from a Czech club for Will Ferry

Am I right in thikinng he's a winger who has been shoehorned into wingback? I have a mate who's a Boro fan and can vaguely recall him saying Silvera is a bit crap but I'll take any wingback at this stagefenaddick said:

Can't see us competing with that Ferry bid when we've got Josh Edwards , we won't be spending around £2m on competition.

Is a Scottish premiership defender worth £2m?
80% of the division is League 1 standard at best, the remaining 20% is upper championship, maybe?

Correct according to Transfermarkt, FotMob has him as LWB/RW though so who knows. Versatility probably a useful assetYannTheMann said:

The question is whether Ferry would accept a move to a Czech team. Even if he doesn't though, Dundee will point to that as their price point either way so that price won't be dropping any time soon3

If we are to actually play with proper wing backs this year we really need 2 first team WB on either side, its such a high intensity role I don't think its as easy as having a first choice and back up for that position, with the amount of subs allowed these days you'd rotate that position probably most if given the choice.MarcusH26 said:Can't see us competing with that Ferry bid when we've got Josh Edwards , we won't be spending around £2m on competition.15 -
We need another LWB, if we’re just going to bring in cover we may as well just stick with what we have and not saddle the wage bill with another backup. Better to spend proper and bring in a LWB to compete with Edwards especially given the injuries he suffered last two seasons.MarcusH26 said:Can't see us competing with that Ferry bid when we've got Josh Edwards , we won't be spending around £2m on competition.£2m isn’t unreasonable to spend on such a key position too.8 -
I like Ferry. He'd cruise it in The Championship.10
-
If we want players who are an upgrade on what we have and are going to make an impact in the championship we will need to be spending at least £2million on individual players. That really isn't a lot in this crazy world.9

If we're unable to spend 1.8m on a starting wing-back, I am very fearful about next season22

Hopefully we'd be unsinkable With Ferry in the ranks. The Red Robin said:I like Ferry. He'd cruise it in The Championship.4 -
Agreed, that should be chump change for a team in the champLeuth said:If we're unable to spend 1.8m on a starting wing-back, I am very fearful about next season3 -
Needs to be at that level, though, if we want to improve as a squad, and that's not even considering we don't know how Josh has recovered from his injury.fenaddick said:

Jones does quite like turning wingers into wingbacks, admittedly his success rate in doing so is patchy at the very best (at Charlton anyway) so it seems plausible honestly.YannTheMann said:

Sure but we can’t buy new starters in every position. We’re clearly banking on Edwards being a good enough starter, that’s probably sensible when we need to buy at least one new starter at both RWB and in midfield as well as a fair few back ups. £1.8m is what we spent on Sichenje which was supposedly brought forward from the summer. That suggests the money is there for the right playerAddickhead86 said:

We also might have just decided he isn’t worth £1.8m to us1

Loan appearances with Pompey in champ and Blackpool in league 1 as well as 3 seasons in Champ with Boro.

1.8 million isn't a lot for squad rotation. It's peanuts for other teams in our division5
